Eryn sighed. “One grey dress. That fabric.” She pointed to a roll of shimmery silver-gray silk, woven through with pearly threads giving the impression of Mist trapped in fabric. “Will make nice dress for Sovereign’s daughter.”

She lifted a folio from the counter and handed it to Zola. “See if like any dress.”

The seamstress took down the fabric roll, then headed to the back for the pre-made clothes.

Zola closed her eyes, then, squinting, opened the folio to a random page. It was a large ballgown. Zola dropped the folio.

You know the clothes Samantha wears in American Girl doll? That’s pretty close to the style. Big ball gowns are SOOO last century, lol!

"Okay." She walked to the exit.

Adilie stopped storing her Connection to Kelsier, contrary to with Marie she hadn't stored all of it but she still had missed him calling her 'the puppeteer' was an insult "Er, Ladashwi? Do you think I act like a puppeteer?"

Alright. Shame. :)

"Okay." Zola picked it up. "Are the dresses I get going to be like that?"

"Not really, but you were controlling Marie..."

Eryn shook her head. “Not for child.” She turned the pages toward the children’s section. “These for you.”

She showed her a picture of dresses with large collars, narrow sleeves, and ruffled skirts that fell to mid-calf. Some of the dresses had long sleeves, while others had puffy cap sleeves. Some had a ribbon about the waist and others had a smock.

”Can be many colors,” Eryn added. “Will also get tunic and trousers for travel.”

She is going to get one a-line ball gown a small bustle. But that’s special.

She didn't like the world 'controlling', it implied things even worse than what she had been doing, but she couldn't think of a more precise word so they'd have to go with it for now.

Zola took the folio, looking at the dresses. "Can I just wear 'tunics and trousers' all the time?"

“For work,” Eryn told her. “And some play. Dress for rest of time. I wear dress. Is not so bad. You are wearing dress now.”

Zola considered that. "It's a deal."

“Glad to hear it!” The seamstress said happily. She laid out four sample dresses on the counter. One was a pale cornflower blue, the second a soft pink, the third a rich green, and the fourth was a warm yellow. “Which would you like to try first?”

"Mmm... the blue?"

The seamstress handed Zola the dress. “There’s a changing area in the back.”

”Will wait for you,” Eryn assured her, settling down.

Eryn nodded happily. “Is nice. But too loose. Need fix.”

The seamstress nodded. “It’s a sample dress, as I said. I’ll have to do some alterations, but it shouldn’t take long.” She smiled sweetly at Zola. “If you’ll just step on this pedestal I’ll start getting it to the right size.”

“Stay still,” The seamstress warns, “and this will be done quickly.” She expertly pins the dress, then steps away nodding. “There we go. Now, which would you like to try next?”

Zola held as still as she could until the dress was done. "I don't know. Which do you think?"

“I think you’d look very sweet in the yellow,” the seamstress said, fingering her spear necklace. “Or the pink. The green is a bit dark for you.”

"All right, I'll try the yellow." Zola grabbed it and went into the changing room again.

She walked out dressed in the yellow and holding the blue.

The seamstress took the blue dress and laid it neatly on her work table, before motioning again at the pedestal.

Meanwhile, Eryn studied the rolls of fabric. She chose a charcoal oil cloth and another of soft blue. She then chose a roll of green worsted, another of lavender, and a third of charcoal. Finally she took a roll of blush satin, placing it next to the grey silk.

Zola stepped onto the pedestal again. She had to admit, this dress was a pretty colour.
