The revenant moved its blade to block the knee strike, failing to notice Q's second strike until it was too late. The hand fell to the floor, black blood spewing from the wound.

The Gray Man smiled joylessly and executed a jerky bow. He backed into the shadow, eyes locked on Ellis's.

"Melody!" cried Gerald. "Quick, the sword, before it-"

But he was gone.

They would not be harming us.

I ran towards the revenants, slashing at the both with inhuman speed. His influence... a plague. I cut it out.

The spirits of the dead rose and drifted off, flowing to rejoin their master.

Q backed off in time for Ellis to cut down the revenants. She studied his movements, thoughts clouding her gaze as she carefully placed her blades back in her sheathes.

"That's that, then," she said cautiously, sensing the spirits leaving their presence.

I breathed. Panted. In and out. The blade in my hand was held steadier than ever; it seemed to emanate the same darkness as the old power.

The Dark Lord.

But... also Ellis.

Still Ellis.

"Are... you guys okay?" I asked tentatively.

"Yeah," Q said, letting out a breath, then rose an eyebrow at him. "How 'bout you?"

"I am not injured," said Gerald tersely, looking intently at Ellis.

Filled.

Restored.

Completed.

"...alright."

Q didn't look convinced. "If you say so," she still said.

"Melody, you're alright?"

After Melody responded, Ellis felt a pull from the amulet down the tunnel.

I started striding towards the pull. There was no need to wait.

"After him," declared Cupra, following Ellis down the tunnel.

I began running; towards, not away. Following the call.

"After him it is." Melody ran after Ellis and Cupra.

"Ellis!" cried Gerald, desperately trying to get his attention. "ELLIS!"

Gerald gritted his beak. There was one thing he could try.

Focusing his will, he extended his tentacle towards Ellis and pulled.
