The Linear Thread

Here we go! Remember, this is like The Longest Thread except linear, so speak in bold, have a character, and go ahead and join in! Please try not to be random and I'd prefer it if no one godmodded.

Melody sighed and looked around the garden. Ever since her four older sisters had left and she was left at home with Mother, Father, and Song, she had had nothing to do. Song wasn't any help, she was always playing with her dolls. To be honest, Melody thought she took that 'youngest' thing a bit too much to heart. She was the youngest of sextuplets, it's not like there was any noticeable difference. Melody rolled onto her stomach. Today she had taken her blanket out to the garden just for a change of scenery, but it was actually really nice out here. Without noticing it, she fell asleep.

Okay, so let me know when you get here, and I'll have her wake up and notice someone in the garden. If someone posts but doesn't want to participate, it'll just be Song.

[Channelknight Fadran]

Umm...

A random guy named Ellis wandered into the garden. "Am I in the right place?"

[Condensation she/her]

Melody woke up and saw a stranger in her garden. She shrieked and jumped to her feet. "Who are you, and what are you doing in my garden?"

[Channelknight Fadran]

"I was just asking myself the same thing! Do you have any idea where I am?"

[Condensation she/her]

"Um, in my garden? Can I help you get somewhere?"

[Channelknight Fadran]

"I don't know who I am or where I'm going." He frowns. "Who are you?"

[Condensation she/her]

"I'm Melody."

[Channelknight Fadran]

"I'm Ellis... I think."

[Condensation she/her]

"Hi, Ellis. Um, this is awkward."

[Channelknight Fadran]

"Couldn't agree more, seeing as how I have no idea why I'm here." He looks around. "I think I'm in the right place, though."

[Condensation she/her]

"How is this the right place? Absolutely nothing happens here that could attract anyone."

"Decidedly false," said Gerald the squid gloomily.

[Channelknight Fadran]

"Don't ask me. I thought we'd established that I don't remember anything."

[Condensation she/her]

"Wait. How did you get here? And how is that false? I mean, about 16 years ago there were sextuplets born, but that's about it. But really, who are you and how did you get here?" Melody was confused. Very confused.

"I've been sent here to die," said Gerald.

"Really? Okay, Capella, very funny. You can stop now. I know this is a prank. The guy with amnesia was believable, but a squid who's been sent to our garden to die?"

"Seems plenty believable to me. But then again, I can't seem to get out of this tree. I've just been watching this whole thing and living off apples."

[Condensation she/her]

"Capella! I caught you, you can stop now." said Melody, a hint of desperation in her voice.

"I doubt I will," said Gerald, even more gloomily. "I haven't yet."

[Channelknight Fadran]

"A squid? Birthing area of Sextuplets? Squid sent to die? Guy in a tree? Sounds like the kind of place you'd expect a dumb, out-of-the-way side prophecy to unfold."

"Prophecies are overrated," said Gerald.

[Vapor she/her]

Virginia walked into the area, smiling. "Is this the site of the party?"

[Condensation she/her]

Melody spun around. "I can't believe this is happening. If it's not Capella, which I haven't ruled out, then it must be true, but it can't be true, it's too odd, so it must be Capella. But she left ages ago and isn't supposed to come back for ages!"

[Channelknight Fadran]

"Dunno. Is it?"

There was a party here a few years ago. Right now it's just kind of sad.
