I’ll have you know I did manage to contact Null and there is little likelihood of him returning to the character of Meae or whatever. I could have Neon accidentally kill her or something, everyone could be sad, then proceed with my villain plot.

Neon smirked, speeding away from the falling ship, back towards the way they had come, hovering over the sea of beads, carrying the girl in his arms. That had been easier than he had thought...

"What?" Kacen growled. "How?"

But there was no time for that. The ship hit the ocean with a crash, and beads began to swarm through the windows, forcing their ways through every crack. Kacen ran back towards where that salesman had left, this time spotting something speeding away in the distant...

The ship exploded again, fiery flames engulfing the ship. An intense wave of heat overwhelmed Kacen, who leveled his last spike and sent it spiraling towards Neon...

A cold, black spike whizzed past Neon's head. Neon, who hadn't been anticipating an attack, twisted out of the way a little late. Yet it hadn't been aiming for him.

It had been aiming for the girl.

Before anyone could react, the girl was impaled, and dropped lifeless into the ocean of beads below.

"Rusts and Ruin," he cursed.

Luz waved, but of course, no one could see him but Noche. So she waved. Very slightly.

The old woman blinked. "Hello?"

"Hello," said Noche. Alba squawked.

"Uh, what are you doing outside my house?"

[Frustration]

"Forgive our tresspass, but have you seen an airship pass by here?"

She furrowed her brow. "Yes, who's asking?"

"I am, it belonged to a thief, he, he took one of our friends, and we'd like to get her back."

She sighed. "They flew north, over the ocean."

[Frustration]

"Thank you."

Neon dove down, and caught the girl's body just before it hit the ocean. Well, that ruined all his plans.

He continued speeding southward.
