Just like the title says, what are some fun ideas you think might be possible with Surges.

I'll start with a thought that Abrasion could make pseudo force fields. By upping the friction of air to an absurd degree it might be possible to basically make a solid wall of air.

Division should be capable of Lighting attacks like Stormform, by Dividing the charged particles in the air to create the electron imbalance that is Lightning.

Division should be capable of instigating fission by dividing uranium nuclei.

Edgedancers could use their surge to be awesome chefs where nothing sticks to the pan.

Progression could grow farm animals really fast.

Illumination could create a mobile rock concert.

You think that that would be fun?

Depends on if nuclear fission in the cosmere releases a significant amount of Investiture as well as (or instead of) energy :o

Use Abrasion to move furniture.

Storms! Never again would D&D night end with an army of new scratches on the floor! This is BRILLIANT!

Gravitation to reenact kung fu movie fights where someone gets kicked across the room.

Tension to make bulletproof clothing and become a superhero

Transportation or Gravitation to become the fastest pitcher in baseball

Cohesion to create breakaway walls wherever you want

Transformation: CONGRATULATIONS! It suddenly only takes a moment to make breakfast!

Illumination makes your voice carry wherever you want. You have become quite the ventriliquist!

Regrowth: Hey, I cured cancer!

Regrowth: Hey, I started a religion!

I didn't even need to tie your shoes together with adhesion.

Gravitation made me the strongest man alive! See ma, I can lift over one-thousand pounds with one hand!

Transportation got me both in and out of your new highly-advanced and impenetrable bank vault.

Transformation: And now I'm an architect that doesn't need other people to actually build the project we'r - ahem - I'm working on.

Assuming teleportation, Transportation means no more work commute.

Division lets you tell your math teacher that yes, you do understand the concept. You just don't like writing long division by hand. (sorry Chaos)

Illumination instead of spending money on makeup or select other beauty products

You could make a religion out of this

The interaction for this would be quite entertaining. "Yes sir, I do understand Division. I just don't see what it has to do with writing stuff out"

You would never technically need to buy clothing either, but that might be a little chilly.

Another for Transformation: Congratulations, you can turn anything to gold. Please be careful

This post right here officer.

I just had a great idea. Using Abrasion + Adhesion, you can make a surface which is complete slippery, but still doesn't all anything to be picked of it.

Progression could allow one to shapeshift through the controlled growth of bones and flesh- though I'm not sure if there would be a way to turn back

Have we seen transformation used to change somethings shape, or can it only be used to change the material something is made out of?

Division is plausible, but it seems painful and a bit of an overkill to just blow up the extra body parts you don't want- unless you're thinking it could be used a different way

Well you can get air into the shape of a wall, so why not an arm?

Theoretically so would growing wings or what not.

They're not shaping the air- they're just turning the air already in that space into stone.

and yeah you're right about the pain

Navani(I think?) notes that air rushes past her into the space of the wall when Jasnah repairs it.

Division splits molecular bonds, not atomic. No fission utility to be found there.

I mean straight up that’s just not what Division is capable of:

Questioner

The Division Surge: does it actually split atoms or does it split the bonds of molecules?

Brandon Sanderson

It splits the bonds of molecules, it does not split atoms.

Questioner

That would be completely overpowered.

Brandon Sanderson

I have done an atom splitting magic originally in Dragonsteel. And wooow it was overpowered. So really, this is fiddling... You'll see what it does when I use it, but we'll not be splitting atoms. We're not creating nuclear reactio... or fission, so.

Leipzig Book Fair (March 24, 2017)

Though (Dragonsteel)

Spoiler

Has microkinesis which does
