You could have a 14th if a note or put all the notes into 13 tet instead of 12 tet, which is really weird, but there are songs made in it that people have created. 12tone on YouTube has a great explaination.
Shard of Reading he/him Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Weird fact: Germany used to have a H chord. (I think it was G#) I don't remember where I learned that so don't ask me to cite the source. (Might have been my band teacher)
Condensation she/her Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 No, my family isn't big on classical music, they don't play it nearly as much as I do.
Going_North_cal Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 I play piano but I abbsoluteely hate it
Condensation she/her Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 That's sad, but it can be useful.
Bearer of all agonies he/him Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Noooooo! I am new to piano, but it is amazing! I love it. It is so fun!
Eluvianii he/him Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 Probably a common thing but I feel the need to ask. Have you noticed how when you're only messing around, maybe playing short, simple songs, you can do it for ages, but if you play a longer song, one you find difficult, at the end you're really tired? It's a strangely amazing feeling.
Bearer of all agonies he/him Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 Yes! You can literally mess around for hours but when you do a long song you are suddenly drained? Anyone else? 2

Not the other thing” and it’s hard to resist when you really need to practice.
Eluvianii he/him Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 I see it as doing something that requires actual effort vs something that doesn't. You're so focused in so many things at once when you play something difficult. I've always been somewhat skeptical about the idea of mental effort tiring you physically, but with this I'm willing to believe it.

Are you doing lessons anytime soon? @McWafy No. High school is pretty overwhelming. but I am trying to.

Bearer of all agonies he/him Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 Yeah! Sometimes things just happen this way. . . It’s cool though.
Condensation she/her Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 Like when you finally play that one song you've been working on forever right, and you're just so drained, but you also want to do it again.

Eluvianii he/him Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 Rise from the ashes so I can vent. I was practicing a song after months of procrastination. First lap goes alright, full of mistakes but I slowly get used to this again. Second lap though, I get through the intro when suddenly I forget what goes next. Each subsequent try I get less notes right before my fingers literally don't know what to do. I figured people here know what this is like. It's so storming frustrating.

I took a break from a pretty complicated piece over the summer and now when I am practicing it I only seem to know it by muscle memory. One second it sounds good and then I totally forget what's next and I have to start at a previous part because the only way I know it is through muscle memory.
AonDoor he/him Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 I learned how to play about ten years ago, but I don't play very often, so I'm not very good.
Edgedancer74 he/him Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 I've been playing for 4 years. Right now I'm learning rush e, it is so fun
Cash67 Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 WAIT THIS IS A THING?! Anyway I took lessons for about a decade and I’ve been working on playing by ear in my own time since college started…. So I’d say about 13 years of experience? Give or take a year? Wouldn’t trade this skill for the world.
Ranryu she/her Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 What what a piano club? We need to revive this! uhhhh... @Shining Silhouette, who else plays piano? 1
