Stephen sighed. "Nope. Let's do it."

Merl and Stefan land firmly on the ground, throwing up chips of rock. Merl’s glow fades.

“This might have been a bad idea, my lord is in pain.”

He catches sight of his staff laying on the ground a few strides over, he picks it up and leans against it, looking weary.

“But thank you anyway. It was invigorating.”

Stefan caught his breath from the ride.

"Aye, no problem. I'm always up for a good fight, eh? Good for your bones, I think."

“I couldn’t agree more.”

He glances to the side, “Ah, lord Stephen! Was it as good a show as it felt?”

Stephen glanced at their snowy clothing. "It was good to watch indeed, your strength is formidable. Did you guys... crash into a mountain?"

“Yes, unfortunately. There are not quite so many where I am from, many have been leveled. Excuse me, I must sit down.”

Merl flopped to the ground, spread eagle.

”I have to ask. WHAT is this cold white powder on me?”

I’d just like to point out that, though technology on Merl’s planet is primitive, culture is not. The beasts weren’t able to wipe out every attempt at culture quite as easily as the could architecture.

Stefan smiled. He called his sword back to his hand, and sheathed it again. His helmet retreated back into his suit. "It's snow, a squishy solid version of water that falls from the skies. We get a lot of it where I come from."

“But it’s so… uncomfortable. If this snow grows on mountains, every beast would have it on its back! Anyhow, now that I’ve met some of your knights I am very intrigued and impressed. Tell me more.”

I also feel bad taking up so much space on this thread. Should I worry about this?

I wouldn't, as nothing is happening elsewhere.

Stephen nodded. "I simply discovered the multiverse, and the navigator of my invention pointed me where to go. We've been at this five years, only found about a dozen or less Knights across the different timelines. Some of us wanted a chance to finish their lives before coming with us—asked me to come back before they die, which was barely an inconvenience."

“Incredible.” merl seemed to use that word a lot, “we have similar ideas about different worlds where I am from. Except in our culture, we know that worlds are all the greatest of creatures, ones beyond our imagining. But you must have some stories to tell, with all those worlds you’ve been to.”

Merl sees crispin and jers nearby.

”and what about you two? There are many people here I have not met yet”

I think everyone is still at base camp, though Stephen and Merl might be somewhere else. People are about to leave, though.

She doesn't know what she wants... so is what she wants to know what she wants?

merl, stumbles to his feet, still leaning on his staff.

”I’m too tired for this right now.”

but he breaks into a defensive stance.

The last thing I remember your doing was Andante going "Are those... Pokemon?"

Since then, each of my other Knights have more or less appeared or introduced themselves (for the full list and descriptions, click the link in my signature). A man named Merl magically appeared, and so did a man named Trevor. Fadran called everyone at camp together to organize missions now, 'cause we're gonna split up and stuff, but then no on really put forth missions. Fadran and Martin went into a tent to discuss a particular one, whilst chaotic character interaction happens back at camp. Now a few more colorful creatures just showed up back at camp. And... I think that's it.

"'Course they are," said Professor X.
