Totally. though talking swords aren't actually that new, we'll go with that.

Lane smiled. "It's a highly complex, interlocking brick system! But, like, as a toy. Here, I always have a couple in my pocket." He pulled out a couple blue LEGO bricks.

Merl nodded his head wisely, as if he completely understood. “Lago. Like great tree wood? Yes we’ve had trouble with that too.”

he started again. “It’s blue?”

"No, no, no..." Lane disappeared for a couple seconds, then reappeared in another flash of green light. "Like this!" He held up a miniature LEGO car proudly.

Merl picked up the car, absently swatting another vine creeping up his thigh. “What an abstract shape.”

*Insert Captain America I-Understood-That-Reference meme here*

(It didn't copy and I didn't want to download it to my computer and upload)

Craven cocked his head, and took the bricks. They were small, hard, and had bumps on the top. "What do they do?" Craven tried stacking them, as had been implied, and found they fit neatly together. "Doesn't seem very interesting." It was still just a block.

Looking closer, the thing the other Knight was holding was made of these same Leh-gos. They formed some strange shape, like a rainbow wagon with a weirdly shaped top and no latch. "Ohh... you make things!" He pointed at it. "But what's that supposed to be?"

"A car! A metal monstrosity that carries people around, in my world. Well, it's in the shape of a car. It's actually just LEGOs. Anywho. Whaddya say we set fire to all this grass? Or is that maybe not the smartest idea?"

"That sounds fun! But maybe just the grass that's trying to kill us."

"What could go wrong?" Lane shrugged. The young teenager held up a Rubik's cube. "This one'll cause a fire explosion!" he said excitedly, a little too loud.

I'll give some other people ample time to try and stop him from literally burning the place down.

"Where? Grass is everywhere."

“Someone mentioned Fadran could take us places magically. Or are we the problem?”

he looked warily at Lane. “You have a love of colorful blocks then?”

Lane shrugged. "As far as I understand, this is home camp. We got tents set up and everything, and we're trying to win a war. We could move camp, or we could figure out what's going on with the stupid grass! And those trees! They're so tall now!" He tilted his head. "And yes, these colorful blocks are the BEST."

Queen was starting to get a little frustrated with this nonsense. "We're splitting up. Into different groups. So we can actually accomplish something instead of fooling around like children!"

Craven nodded. "When Fadran and Martin get back. FADRAN!" he yelled. "MARRRRRTIN!"

He looked up at Queen, smiling. "And I am a child!"

Merl smiled “if we brought Dax here we could have camp on him! The plants couldn’t hurt us there.”

His face fell looking at their faces, “impossible?”

"But we're in imminent threat for our lives! The... uh, grass. Is growing." Lane blinked. "Doesn't sound as bad when you put it like that, I guess."

Stephen interrupted. "I get that we're splitting up, and my Knights are ready for that. I need to know what the missions are so I can delegate resources appropriately. It's called crew resource management. Don't suppose you can help tell us what is needed for what missions?"

Fadran and Martin are in a tent, discussing one of the missions still with Ely spying. In case anyone forgot.

"Yes, I get you're surprised, but the grass is very much pressing against this tent now," Ely said. "Let's go."

“I’m going with Ayia, Martin, and Queen to Martin’s planet.” Craven recited. “I think. Unless they decided something else.” Craven suddenly became worried. What if he didn’t get to go?

“I don’t know how I am supposed to help out, but if I have a choice I’d like to go wherever professor x is going. He has resources I want to use. For, uh, personal reasons.”

Professor X grinned. "Back in my day, everyone was wanting to go where I went. X is the best, they said! I'd be glad to have such a grand fighter by my side."

Luckily, Merl’s a bad judge of character.

Merl beamed at him. “Thank you. It’s been a very strange day.”

He chuckled. "Falling accidentally into multiversal portals certainly is. Why, I nearly destroyed the Knights when they first found me, out of sheer fright!"

“I’m still uncertain how it is that I fell in. I’ve never lost my balance on Dax before. It was such an unexpected jerk, I’ve never felt anything like it. And that it happens just at the right point to take me here! Seems like to much of a coincidence to simply be just that.”

Ghostfire, who had been remaining characteristically silent, stood up from the corpse he was examining. "Then perhaps it was by some grand design you ended up with us," he said thoughtfully, fairly monotonously with slight synthetic inflection.

Professor X shrugged. "I have been wondering, why here? Like anyone who just showed up, really, why here, with us, at this particular point in time?"

“I guess I must trust Dax’s judgement.” Merl said seriously, with both hands on his staff. “For some reason he meant for me to come here. I have a feeling it has something to do with those orbs you throw. They are too meaningful to ignore.”

Craven shrugged as well. “I was just walking. I’m from this planet.” It would have felt strange to say that before arriving at the camp, but it had since grown common knowledge that the universe was much bigger than the steps ahead and behind him.
