"Yes, we're running a revolution. It might not last very long, though. While you were gone, most of the others decided to attack the castle without you or my direction. They haven't returned yet and I fear the worst."

"Good to meet all of you. And don't worry, I think we can help solve your problem. Does anyone here know how to fire a gun?"

"I do."  Martin says with a grimace.  "What kind?"

"That would be much appreciated. Any friend of Herate's is a friend of mine, would you like to come to the command tent? I'm sure you're hungry."

"I'm always hungry. Lead the way, ah... Daolan, right?"

"Yes. My apologies, I forgot my manners." Daolan grins and walks toward the command tent, which is on the north side of the encampment.

Herate lets out a breath then follows him, turning and beckoning to the others.

Fadran follows, catching up with Daolan. "So what's the situation at? On a scale of one to eleven, how well is it going?"

I observe the events of Harate's reunion with only half an eye. My body aches as we float after Fadran and the others. The pain of what I had answered Fox is etched into my bones. Everything else is muted by comparison.

"Right now we're probably at a three, but depending on what Herate knows it could go up."

"Yep! We've got an ex-god, a well of pure magical power, someone who can make force fields, someone who can make fire, someone who has these 'gun' things, and... this!" Fadran held up his Channelblade. "I can make portals with it."

"I'd definitely hope we can count as an advantage." Vale says dryly. "At the very least we can supply you with some weaponry"

"Wow. That's impressive! Okay, I think I can adapt our original plan..." Daolan trails off, lost in thought.

"Okay, it's a little more complicated that 'can make portals,' but that's not the point. Can you run me by the situation?" Fadran frowns. "How long have you been leading this?"

"Herate and I lead it together, we have since - the very beginning, I think. We've got about 150 soldiers, the rest of them are probably dead or imprisoned in Wyrn's dungeons. We've got maps of just about everything in the command tent, and Herate was looking for a person that could supposedly be used as leverage against Wyrn."

"This is gonna sound weird," Martin says, "But what is this Wyrn like?"

I'm trying to stay relevant and I don't think it's working, but meh.

"Leverage... like a family member?"

"I think so." They arrived at the command tent and Daolan pushed aside a flap of cloth that served as the door. "Here it is!"

"Huh. Nicer tent than most I've been in." Fadran ducked inside. "So how can I help?"

In an attempt to do something which I have not done in eons my single mind becomes two. I touch both connections with the essence of my spirit. My strength falls rapidly and mentally I stumble, but I don't allow it to bleed over. "I do. I cannot be alone as I have been nor could I allow the world to do to her what it was doing. It does seem that we need each other. Dare I say, we all seem to need each other. I think that this fellowship is no longer so simple a thing as a group bound by mutual self interest."

I hear the pain in her voice. The accusation awakens all sorts of demons that sleep in the dark. They whisper to me in wonderment and wail in wrathful tones. Each burrows deep into me tearing me asunder. I am dangerously close to blacking out. Each word is an agony which is nearly more than I can bear. Despite all of this I rise. I embrace them as they tear into me. These are mine and I accept them. "When Winter first took you I came and faced my  demons. When next he came I was too weak and injured to follow. I tried and failed you. There are no excuses that can change that I did not come. I would tear down the infernal realms to have back that moment. Even had it killed me I should have pushed harder. I should have done more. I did not.In this I failed. I allowed my limitations and pain to keep me from you."

Fox looked at the ground. So he openly admitted his failure, his weakness. He was too weak to bear through the pain. Fox wasn't sure what she thought of that. He was... he was being sincere. That was something she appreciated. That was... something valuable. She lifted her eyes to father's, love and gratefulness twinkling in her eyes.

"I believe that our friends are on the move. We should follow them. Hold on tight." Again the winds obey me and lifts us inches above the ground. My strength drops dangerously, but I hold on tight for her. They carry us gently after Herate and Fadran.

@Scarletfox

Just then, Nath lifted them off the ground, and Fox, staring into his eyes, realized that he wasn't looking too good. He looked so exhausted and weak. "Father," she said softly, "Don't push yourself too hard." Here Fox was blithering over her hurt feelings, while her father had put so much strength toward reaching out to her. She wasn't sure if she was ready for forgiveness, but Fox did realize her immaturity at not being able to. She would get there in time.

Inside the tent: pretty sparse, there's some books lying around. In the center of the tent is one of those war tables with maps lying all over it. There are three spread out: one of the area, one improvised one of the castle, and one of the country. There are cushions around the low table for sitting on. Is that all? Oh, the floor is like a tarp.

The papers reveal that 'Jaddeth' is a hoax and show Wyrn's plans for world domination. It's not cliche at all.

Daolan walked over to a cushion and sat down, Herate sitting next to him. "I don't know your abilities."

"Wait, before we do that." Herate pulled out her Essence Marks and stamped herself with a new one. Hareon reached into her bag and pulled out a sheaf of papers. "Here they are, the papers I found on Wyrn's desk." Then she pried off the stamp and turned back into Herate.

"Well, my abilities include elemental manipulation, magical healing, illusionary magic, the ability to control objects, the ability to dissolve things, and the ability to fix broken items, though I'm only really good at the elemental and healing kind. That's not what I meant by help, though: like I said, I've led battalions. I've fought in two wars. I hope that my tactical experience can be of some use. Strategies, inspirational methods, the like." Fadran took in a breath. "That didn't sound like I was bragging, right? Because I wasn't trying to brag. Consider all that stuff as my resume."

Daolan flipped through the papers, his face growing awed. "This is perfect! You said these were on Wyrn's desk? Rien, take a look at these."

He looked over at Fadran. "That's impressive. Can you look over our plan?"
