Nathrangking he/him Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 I lean back and begin to hum. The ancient dirge that rolls off of my tongue is a low mournful tune. I close my eyes and allow the whispered music to surround me.
Condensation she/her Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 (edited) Quote I'm assuming you're in the hut. You're welcome, I guess? I don't think I've ever been thanked for being a grammar cop before, I mean, unless it was sarcastic. Herate hears the music and turns around. She decides not to disturb him, though, and returns to her previous position. Edited August 21, 2020 by Condensation

Negative_Null They/Them Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Vale drinks in the melody for a few moments that stretch much much longer, before standing up. He nods to the group before walking around the hill and out of sight

I open a single eye and trail off as I sense Herate turn around. I meet her gaze for a moment. "This an old song that I learned in my youth many eons ago. It speaks of those who have been lost and yet are not truly gone. I find that it clears my mind when I need to be at peace. I cannot lose myself to dreams, but I can immerse myself in it." I close my eye and resume humming. 1
Vapor she/her Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Vapor listens to the song humming softly in her ears and slowly drifts off to sleep.
Enter a username Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Quote Why do these things always happen when I'm offline? Hearing a scream, Enter rushed in the direction of the sound. By the time he got there, it was over.
Condensation she/her Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Herate looked up at Enter, raised a hand in welcome, and returned to her carving.
Mist she/her Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 T wakes up, now well rested. "I can also keep watch, if you guys want to sleep." Ember lays down where she was sleeping, just after she jumps onto the shack.
Condensation she/her Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Herate looks toward T then raises a finger to her lips. "They're sleeping," she whispers.

Condensation she/her Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Quote Posting so others can post: here you go! This is a thing I do often because I know how annoying it is for people to have a story or next post in mind but no one else is posting. Herate finished her soulstamp and stamped herself, trying to see if it would take.
Vapor she/her Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Jek leaned against the wall and closed his eyes, relaxing. Spin stepped up behind Herate. "What stamp was that?" 1
Condensation she/her Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 "I've realized that the stamps I have are not adequate for the situations I find myself in. I'm trying to create a mechanic stamp," Herate answers without turning to face Spin.
Vapor she/her Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Spin puts a hand on Herate's shoulder. "You okay? I saw you yelling at Fadran earlier."
Condensation she/her Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 "I wasn't yelling, we were just talking. I heard Mordred is gone?"
Vapor she/her Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 "But you were angry. Mordred has been added to our list of dead or affected by us."

I open my eyes. When I speak my voice is little more than a whisper. "She may still live. For the moment she is beyond us. She is lost to us as others are lost to us. We have lost much. If she lives we will get her back." I sit in pensive silence. 1
Condensation she/her Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 "Thank you." Herate looks over at Nath. "For more than that."

I close my eyes to hide the tears within. A moment later I begin to hum a tune just as ancient as the first, but far less melancholy. It's notes weave a hopeful tapestry. It floats upon the air creating a magic stronger than that of any deity. My mind calms as each layer builds upon the last. 1
Vapor she/her Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Jek closes his eyes again and lets out a breath, relaxing, and lets himself fall asleep for the first time in days.
Condensation she/her Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Herate closes her eyes briefly and appreciates the music, but then her eyes catch on something in the distance. Quote What is it? No idea. Help? Ideas?
