Fadran scratches his head. "If we could convert ourselves into photons, we could fly away from this place at the speed of light, but even then who knows where we'd end up?" He chuckles. "And that's assuming we could find a way to convert ourselves into photons."

"Well, see, it's a little more complicated than that," Fadran replies, "because a lot of magic is Universally-locked. That doesn't mean that you can't use it outside its Universe of Origin; that means that no one who can't access it normally can't access it at all. You're attuned to your own magic, but this place isn't. When it comes to creating gates between Universes, a few very specific requirements must be met. If Universes were seperated by walls, then in order to create a gate, you'd need someone to open a door on either end. As a Channelknight, I can do that easily, because my Parallarities can go to anywhere in the Iconar Collective, which keeps itself relatively open all the time. If your magic doesn't like opening up to other Universes, then you can open up a gate on this end, but not one on the other... which can be a messy business."

He sits down. "Not to mention all dimensional travel is blocked for some reason..."
