Lord Gregorio he/him Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Idk. It was just because he said the Bible is the Word of God and Jesus is also the Word of God. Then I was like, wait, what the heck did you say? Did you say Jesus is the Bible? And he said yes. It was…weird. Biblical inerrancy and sola scriptura stuff drives me crazy. 1

Love Travis 1 minute ago, Through the Living Mist said: I haven’t heard of it. What does it focus on? Apologetics and discussions with people that missionaries are teaching. Some great methods of arguing intellectually. It’s mainly a YT thing. Also look up the Missionary Brief, a different sort of teaching video tool for those wanting to understand more. The guy (Travis) is LDS and through the videos he references a lot of fantastic sources you can look into if you’re interested. Edited March 31 by Lord Gregorio 1

The one point against him, imo, is that he can be a little...ah, blunt? I blame the lawyer training. But it's often just as gratifying as it is grating, when he doesn't take the crap from a clearly bad-faith actor.

I’m not saying he’s perfect or *the* example to hold to, but him, Robert Boylan, Blake Ostler and some others have different methods and it’s fun/informative to see their different ways. (Those aren’t exactly all great examples because they’re all pretty blunt, but I’m sure you get what I mean. )
Frustration Posted March 31 Posted March 31 12 minutes ago, Lord Gregorio said: Biblical inerrancy and sola scriptura stuff drives me crazy. Agreed. I actually had a couple of times on my mission where people would say that the Bible says you can't have any other scripture than the Bible. Cue me saying, "No it doesn't," or "I don't remember that part." 14 minutes ago, Slowswift said: Same. Actually, on this topic, anyone here familiar with the channel Missionary Discussions? So that's what it's called. I had a few companions listen to it and I've thought a bit about looking for it, but didn't think I knew enough to find it. 1

Frustration Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Sunday Morning session was amazing. Definately saw a theme there, but really sweet. 1
Myst He/Him Posted April 5 Posted April 5 I slept in, and missed the first hour of Saturday, but the afternoon and today’s morning session were great.
NerdSandwich she/her Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Ohh it was soo good! My favorite was Sunday Morning, I think. Eyring and Gilbert's talks were good too.
Through The Living Star She/Her Posted April 6 Posted April 6 I loved general conference. it was so amazing. I think one of my favorite talks was Sister Emily Belle Freeman's talk, though they were all great. 1

NerdSandwich she/her Posted April 7 Posted April 7 My dad liked Renlund's I liked Rowe's and Rasband's and Gilbert's and a lot of them really My mom liked Andersen's My sister liked Hall's My other sister liked Oaks's (I particularly did too) And my youngest sister liked Porter's @ChipsAHoid said he liked Eyring's (but I only heard that after the first session maybe he liked other ones later) My grandma liked Christofferson's My grandpa like Matswagothata's (also only heard that after the first session) Anyways... I think it's cool how we all need to hear different things. God somehow makes sure there's something for everyone in the talks Sometimes, we hear things that aren't even in the talks. Anyways, really liked this conference. 4
Fizz9 Posted April 8 Posted April 8 This is a great idea! I'm also an LDS! My favorite talk was the one about bad days and good days. I can't remember that person's name... Anyway, great idea @Kelsier'sGodComplex!

Yeah, that one was Sister Emily Belle Freeman's talk (Unless there was one on Saturday that I didn't hear) I also loved that one!

Yeah, I’m actually really sad they cut the Saturday Evening session though, I liked having more conference talks. But yeah, there’s always something do everyone, I really felt Elder Wakolo’s was intended for me and my family, but there were so many other messages 1
Immortal Platypus Posted April 8 Posted April 8 My favorite was either Elder James E. Faust's April 1981 address ("The Dignity of Self") or Elder Howard W. Hunter's April 1981 Address ("No Man Shall Add to or Take Away"). and yes, I did read parts of the April 1981 conference during conference weekend, I find that I like the older talks better. this year's talks were still great though. 1
Myst He/Him Posted April 15 Posted April 15 It’s honestly so amazing to me(and funny) when I find stuff in the scriptures that had to have been put there for me, because there is no other logical reason for it being there. Like, yesterday night, I said a prayer about what was on my mind before reading, which happened to be a girl(don’t blame me I’m a high schooler) anyways, I go to read my scriptures, and literally 7 verses in I get the most obvious “get up and tell her already” message I’ve ever gotten. And this was in Deuteronomy 20, it’s not a “answers to high school problems” chapter, and yet, verse 7 literally did that. Here’s the verse: Spoiler Deuteronomy 20:7 And what Man is there that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her? Let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in battle, and another man take her So yeah, the actual verse(from what I got from the footnotes) is absolutely not about what I got from it. But I remember reading it and just laughing, because I was not expecting to get called out and told to man up and tell her I like her before someone else does. but yeah, it’s always a delight when you see a verse that seems intended for you at that moment. 5
