Ryan looked at their new surroundings, fairly dizzy from the travel. They were in a high place. Very high. It didn't help him feel any better.

There was a skycrapper in his hometown. 40 stories tall, the tallest and most advanced in the continent. And it couldn't even begin to compare with where he was now.

Still, the scent was familiar and that did help. He forced himself to pay attention to the conversation, it was important. His instinct told him to run and his curiosity told him to explore but for now he needed to listen.

John frowned. "Reapers? No, I haven't heard of them... then again, I've lived a long time and can only remember so much that I'm not using or that I don't consider important."

"I've already told you. We collected you for study because The Universe is affected by you. Everything you do affects the Universe in some way, all of you." John looked down.

"And we don't know why. That scares us."

Ryan took a step forward.

"Well then, study us already. If I'm affecting the universe somehow, I would like to know why too."

John hesitated, trying to find the right words in English. "It... talks to you, but doesn't? It's hard to explain. The Magics interact with you, and from what we know, you're a center of discussion in their counsel. Him," and at this nodded at Rydin, "Him I would understand since he is important to his Magic. Not to insult any of you, but you don't really... match that."

Jessy shook her head in confusion.

"But why us? I'm nobody special, there are far more competent people around in my time - and if it's about magic, why me and not an Asari."

She was disappointed that he didn't know anything about the Reapers, but maybe, if they could travel here - maybe this world could be a place to hide? If they really came, if the myth was real. For now - she had to find a way back if she wanted to use this place.

Jessy explained and sighed. "Alright, this leads nowhere. So you want to study us." She folded her arms in front of her chest. "What do you plan to do?"

Failen bit his lip, trying to think. He was the first half-breed between a unicorn and... any other race at all, as far as he knew. Add in that he was also a shadowcharmer and Fairykind... maybe that's why he was so important? "Maybe... maybe it's something in our bodies? Our genetics, or something? I'm the first person who's ever had my kind of parentage... maybe we're important to the futures of our planets species or something? I'm not really sure how, but... it's something to look at while we think of more options?" He gave the suggestion a little naively, unsure about exactly how complicated genetics was as a field of study.

"I-I don't think so, I'm as normal as it gets. My family wasn't special or anything. Just your normal mom and dad." he said shooking his head and then added, sligthly more loudly. "I've lived as any other person up until now. Heck, I chose my job because of a childhood dream. I can't think of a single thing out of the ordinary since I can remember." Well, he could think of some, but they didn't have anything to do with him. He didn't have anything unusal. Not physical nor in his personality. Just your average guy trying to help. There had to be something else.

“You guys can do that?” Cheh said, looking to John in surprise. All these inventions, they seemed amazing, like something out of a book Cheh had read once, about scientifically fantasies. Not many books came to the farm, which made the memory of the book even better. Cheh had lost it in a fight.

“So, We effect the universe. But in what way? It certainly seems I’m about average in my abilities.” Cheh punched in the air and nothing happened due to the lack of rock to prove his point. Maybe if he was stronger, he could bend the metal. Both times he’d done it before, he’d been in great stress. Maybe that was the key?

Jessy tilted her head back and laughed. It was hillarious. And threatening. Because she had no way to stop him, to stop any of this. They wanted for her to be a rat and she would be a rat. The only thing left was her pride. Pride and a show of strength to keep them away. Again she wondered how it could have happened, how she, for all good things she, ended up in such a mess.

"Tell me one reason, one single reason, why I should allow you to analyze my DNA." She shook her head. "Because I'm pretty sure, that I'm not alright with that that."

"I can't. That's why we kept you asleep until we saw something strange was happening. You know the rest." He looked Jessy straight in the eye. "Just because we're hyper advanced in technology compared to you doesn't mean we're hyper advanced in ethics. We need to get something done, so we did it."

Failen stood, managing to keep his balance this time. "What do you need from me? A blood sample? A tissue sample? Something else? I'll gladly help you if you need it." He didn't mind- they had the same magic he and his grandmother had. So... he trusted them.
