Chinkoln he/him Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 (edited) I just finished book one of the Stormlight Archives. What shard is the Almighty? Is Odium, hate, or destruction, or something like that? Edited March 6, 2019 by Chaos Correcting Rosharian to Rosharan
CrazyRioter she/her Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 The Almighty is Honor, Odium...is Odium.

earthexile Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 I suspect that the Vorin Almighty is really Odium, but they've convinced themselves they follow Honor, similar to how they've convinced themselves they aren't the Voidbringers. Vorinism has some really sick ideas hiding inside it, like the idea that slaughtering people just sends angels to Heaven to fight for the good guys. If you like killing, being really good at it is a GOOD thing. All of the Vorin people who become Radiants so far have been outcasts and heretics, which suggests that a connection with Honor is anathema to Vorin doctrines somehow. 1
Inky Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Vorins worship Honor. Most of the religions on Roshar worship warped views of Honor and/or Cultivation (or sometimes Odium).
Calderis he/him Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 And Honor is perfectly capable of being warped all on its own. 2

Tanavast directly claims to be the Almighty in one of Dalinar's visions (WoK ch 75) Quote "I am ... I was ... God. The one you call the Almighty, the creator of mankind." The figure closed his eyes. "And now I am dead. Odium has killed me. I am sorry." 1

Yes. @Wandering Investor is paraphrasing a Word of Brandon where he confirms two specific interpretations of the word as being applicable to Odium. There's another where Brandon mentioned that he originally planned on calling it 'Hatred' but changed his mind; Later he specified that he just thought 'Odium sounds cooler'. xD
Wandering Investor Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 @Weltall Actually, I was using the definition from a dictionary, I think Merriam Webster ( I checked, it was that one). Didn't know there was a WoB backing it up, that's good to know, helps with some of my theories. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/odium
