Breeze is saying that he wished he could use it on himself after the siege of Luthadel. Shortly after he went and hid in the building and survived.

So post Siege, Pre releasing of Ruin

Which pretty much implies that you can't use it on yourself.

yes we do. It is said a few times in the books that it is impossible to affect one's own emotions through allowmancy.

I have no memory of that...Do you have a quote or something?

Breeze says it in Well of Ascension, I believe.

on the other hand, we know the characters have been wrong about things before.  they probably know what they are talkign about for this one, but their knowledge isnt perfect

I have a feeling this ls like the behind-the-scenes reason for why silver wasn't made a different allomantic metal after Brandon had to replace it with tin fur metallurgy reasons: It's something that would have been discovered in a thousand years of allomancy. Soothers and Rioters are common enough and have metals that are easy enough to obtain in quantity that if you could use it on yourself, people would have been independently 'discovering' it frequently and eventually it would become more or less common knowledge. So yeah, there are times when the in-universe knowledge is demonstrably either wrong ot at least incomplete but I don't think this is going to be one of them.

With the caveat that we do not know what happens if a (Zinc/Brass - Aluminium) Twinborn tries that after storing his Identity away.

It might be possible to hack the magic system, as @Oltux72 said, or using an alloy of Lerasium or Atium.

To sum up, as far as we know, it's impossible. However, to quote Sanderson himself, "There's always another secret."

Breeze couldn't affect himself by himself, as a Misting who can only burn brass; but maybe a full Mistborn or Fullborn could effectively do so.

Like when Vin sees her gold shadow that hates her for being so trusting, she could physically touch her shadow on the face - what if she'd tried to Soothe it? Would that reverberate somehow to her "real" self?

Or some kind of loop involving using F-aluminum for shunting Identity, or using Metallic Arts technology, like storing a pulse of A-brass Soothing into an "allomantic grenade" and then triggering it on yourself.

Besides, there are Soothing Parlors in Era 2 Elendel, so all a Soother would need to do is to go and find another Soother and they could mutually Soothe each other.
