I suppose this is where I disavow responsibility by reminding y'all that I only said "probably."  >>;  <<;

:P

Probably a little late for that. The 'pitch-forkers' and the 'pitch-forkees' are already running around the castle. ;)

On a side note I'm still in the midst of trade show season, and this year the company I work for is attending many more small ones which is why I haven't read or submitted recently. Hopefully things will lighten up by the end of May or they'll need to clone me.

Clone you, lol. (One day we will look back on that comment and wonder why we were laughing).

Looking forward to your return, Stormweasel. Hang in there!

Well, I guess I'll start with the requests...  I'd like to submit chapter 13 next week if there's room.

Posted

In that case I shall follow, next section of Maths Bridge, on the understanding of dropping out as required.

Posted

I'd like to submit a chapter this week if that's cool with you guys.

Hurrah! Fresh meat ;o)

Silk will adjudicate on the submission requests.

Mr. Wednesday, you're good to go. Robinski and Mandamon know the drill. ;)

Anybody else for tomorrow?

Posted

I'd like to submit the first chapter of my epic fantasy novel, please. If it's full up for the coming week I'm still happy to give feedback for others.

Thanks : )

Posted

Yeah, that's the general gist - giving a handful of feedbacks before submitting - but what do I know, Silk is the arbiter around here - also inciter of mobs and resident trombonist.

Majestic Fox, Supersoup, I'll put you both down for Monday the 4th. Sorry for the delayed response--this week is shaping up to be a little nuts for me. (Just FYI, I always try to make a point of checking this thread Saturday or Sunday nights, but don't necessarily see submission requests right away if they're made day-of.)

Lots of people opt to just read and critique for a couple weeks before submitting themselves, but you don't have to. Officially, the rule is that you provide one critique for every submission, though lots of people do more than that (I usually try to critique all the stuff that comes out in any week I submit, for example), but basically, we just want to make sure that people who submit also participate reasonably in giving feedback.

Sounds good.

Silk aka Prince Kheldar, I suppose?

I love that character.

That's the one. I actually started using the name before reading the books as the result of an inside joke between me and a couple other RE members, way back. Had to read the first Eddings book just to make sure I hadn't inadvertently named myself after someone utterly terrible.

I'm totally putting that last bit in my signature.

Hahah. Silk used to be my favourite character, but looking back I think Eddings made him a bit too awesome. He's a spy, an acrobat, a merchant, a thief. He's witty, charming, outrageously persuasive. His self deprecation was much needed. Anyway, I can feel myself on the brink of a Silk essay so I'd best stop there.

Robinski's good at that sort of thing...

Lol - at least I'm good for something. It's true, j'aime beacoup les mots bonne.

Thank you!

So, do I wait to follow the submission process on the day of the 4th, or do I submit as soon as it's ready before the 4th?

Is there any more room on the 4th, Silk? I have a first chapter I'd like to get some feedback on before I send it out to some agents.

Silk's the boss, but in my experience submit on Monday, as otherwise it will get 'fouled' up with this week's submissions - if you see what I mean.

Yes, please do it the day of the 4th or the night before. It's just easier to keep track of who's submitting when that way--especially when it's a bit busier.

Absolutely, you're on. And good luck!

I would like to continue submitting The Mathematical Bridge BUT, I reckon that's 3 for Monday? I'll stand down as Mandamon must be closer to the end of his story than I am.

Looks like:

Majestic Fox

Supersoup

rdpulfer

Robinski

For the 4th.  I'm happy to add my next chapter (it's pretty short, so that's good) and have a full submission slate for the first time in a long time!

Up to Silk in the end.  If anyone objects to reading so many entries, I'll gladly drop out for a week.

(Oh, and for Robinski's benefit, this is chapter 14 of 23, so not that close to the end...)

You guys can both submit as long as nobody else asks for a slot. (To the hypothetical somebody else: don't feel bad about asking! We always try to prioritize members who haven't submitted in a while.) I wouldn't worry about it being too many submissions--as you said, it's nice to have a full slate after a quiet few weeks.

Posted

Yeah, don't feel bad about asking. It'll take me at least 10 minutes to raise a pitchfork wielding mob...

(That's a joke, by the way.)
