By the way, for making it easier for new people to join, maybe we should start moving away from the pm, or at least make it clear to people that we have one, and how you can be added to it?

By moving away from the PM, do you mean trying to use the thread more for guild discussion?

I like the idea, but i think that with guilds possibly wanting to keep some stuff secret, we are going to be still doing mostly discussion in PMs. Definitely making it clear that guilds have PMs and threads could be nice.  It would also help if we could keep the OP in a guild thread updated... but I understand this can be really difficult with roles changing, people taking breaks from the shard, etc. and I don't have an alternative for this...

I meant moving away from the main homeless PM, not the guild PMs. On the other hand, most of the stuff there is just general stuff that isn't that important for the rp, but it'll still be good if we have a way for new people to be aware of it.

Will mention it in the new thread. I know I say this a lot but hopefully I'll have some time this weekend to get that up.

Personally I'd rather not dive into it at all, I don't think we could either do justice to the MtGverse given what we already have set up, or that it would add much to existing Alleyverse stuff.
That being said if anyone ever sets up a MtG RP I'm definitely down because I love Magic.

I haven't read it, so I might agree with you, but if there was small things that would improve the Alleyverse I want to add them.

I agree that it is really hard to integrate. I have spent 64 hours on MTG lore, at minimum, and I barely know anything. I volunteer to search through the lore to find things that could work, if that is okay. Their should be an entire sub forum on the wiki about all the different types of magic.

Being a long time MTG player, and knowing a decent amount of Lore, I can say for a fact that there are no limits set into place. Sanderson said that multiple times in interviews as well, that he wanted to try to figure out how the magic works, and having not read Children of the Nameless quite yet, I don't know if he succeeded or not. If he did however, it would be the only time their limits have been stated, with the exception that Planeswalkers now are weaker than the OG Planeswalkers, due to The Mending. They just haven't said how weak. Or how strong.

I'm wondering if this should potentially be a sub-RP thing. MtG is just way to huge to also integrate into Sanderson stuff, it would completely take over the identity of the RP I feel. I love MtG, I have some great sourcebooks to use for setting an RP there but I don't think it would integrate well into another RP.
To do it justice it really needs its own RP dedicated to it. (Dibs on Dimir)

If we do that, I'm an Elder Dragon. No I will not be as powerful as Bolas.

I would pick out the weakest magics, and produce them to the community, and we can make sure that they aren't to powerful.

I just feel like we'd be stripping away so much of what makes magic great that it'd be no more than essentially just inventing new magics for people to chose from (Which, honestly I'm never that excited about, as Brandon says it's the limitations that make magic interesting)
The settings are so much of what makes MtG interesting, the guilds of Ravnica, the Eldrazi, etc.
Cutting just the abilities out and pasting them in another setting would just seem incredibly hollow to me, a story without its soul.

Yep.
Sanderson Dragons.

That being said we know little to nothing of cosmere dragons so I'd suggest avoiding using them too much.

Hello everyone! I'm new to the Alleyverse, but I'm not quite sure where would be best to step in... or really even how to do so. I'm excited to join, though! :D

Welcome! There aren’t too many active plots going on right now, but there are a few.

A lot of the action takes place in guilds, so If you are feeling lost I would suggest joining one of those. They can help provide guidance and help you get integrated into the RP.

The Dark alley is a group of hemalurgists and bakers, they are the most powerful guild. There full name is “people you wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley” because they would give you a cookie with a spike in it.

TUBA is a group of bakers who are dedicated to making normal cookies.

The Ghostbloods is a group of assassins for hire. They are arguably the second most powerful guild. That’s about it. Be forwarned: they are very devious and plotting. They recently kicked out their founder.

The Craftsmen are a group of inventors that use investiture to make cool things. They aren’t going to be major players in the coming days, so if you want to be really involved, don’t join them.

The keepers are a group of feruchemists. They probably will be more active, their leader is saying that they will be more active.

There are a few military based guilds like the precursors.

There is also the the thieves guild, they are very active

I would suggest choosing your guild based off of you character, because it will be easier to RP. As awesome as the DA is, they aren’t necessarily a good guild for someone who loves life.

Thats about it. There are a few more guilds I think, but those are the major guilds.

Okay. I agree that doing that would be bad for magic, but can we at least use vampires?

Like from JoJo? With the Stone Mask?

Hi Elandera!

Guilds are definitely a good way to find a direction for your charecter to go. If you want to start RPing, you can also just jump into just about any thread and make your presence known (I think you can alternatively make a new thread as an introduction).

Umm, I technically havent gone past the joining a guild phase, so people, please correct me if something i said is wrong.

I would suggest not making new threads as introductions. We already have a lot of them as it is.

Also, your a part of the Keepers! You’ve definitely joined a guild.
