Benson heard the explosion in the distance. He searched his emotions, but felt nothing but relief. Rust, relief for the death of children? He hated himself. But he couldn't help but be relieved that it was them and not him. He sighed, then followed, silent.

Vesuvius pulled something out of a drawstring bag he had been carrying on his back. It was a large, black orb, roughly the size of a bowling ball.

He grabbed Benson by the arm, waited for a second, then smiled at the orb started glowing.

After a second, the two of them were gone.

He wouldn’t be sleeping well for a while. He turned and Started walking away. But this wasn’t over. It wouldn’t be for a while.

After a short while a man stepped out to him.

"Welcome."

He greeted him and then gestured to the side, into a small room.

"Please wait for a moment, someone will be here to speak with you soon."

The man remained close by, but otherwise left Anthony alone. Maybe an hour later a woman stepped into the room. Her long black hair was falling over her shoulders, her dark eyes swept the room before she stopped close to the door.

"I was informed that you wish to join."

She stated and then fell silent, simply looked at him.

Anthony set down the knife he had been sharpening, face still. "That is correct. I believe you know the name Hellbent." A dark flash. The Space Marine, head still within the helm, falls into the pool of blood. Except the helm. It grins, holding the helm. It looks down into the pool of blood, the corpses nearby. It smiles, an insane grin, blood stains obvious on the teeth. Anthony shook himself. He had been gazing into nothing, in a flash of memory, for the past fifteen seconds. He moved his eyes, back towards the woman. Tena is a member. That means they can't be bad. Right?

Zokora crossed her arms in front of her chest, observed his movements. She'd recognized him, had read through the reports from a year ago, when she saw him on the video footage.

"I do."

She replied, her voice neutral. Then she fell silent again, waited for him to go on.

"I... I am not Hellbent." He was proud of how confident his voice was. The first part had stumbled a bit, but after that it was strong. He repressed the image of a whip, flashing towards the back of a child. "Yes, I am genetically identical to the man, the thing named Hellbent." Again, the memories were back. Stronger, this time. But he kept going. "But that man would never have been capable of having a family, of loving. As I have." He shook his head. "I may not be Hellbent, but I still wish to join the Ghostbloods." He bowed his head. "But never, never am I to lead." His eyes flashed. "I will be loyal. But I must not lead."

Her eyes stayed with him, their gaze cold. He was boken, but many of them were. Storms, the whole city was broken ever since the war and maybe before that.

"Why do you wish to join?"

Usually she'd ask after the skills first, tested them, though rarely personally. But this time his reasoning was more important.

His head slowly went up, and his back straightened, revealing his full height, 7 foot 1 inch. "I must prove myself. I must show that I can fight, can kill, for a group I believe in." He paused. "I need to learn to fight, even more than before. I must protect Tena, protect Solstice." He pulled his bow of his back. He kneeled, setting it before him, one fist planted on the ground, one hand on his knee. He looked up, at her face. "Please. Let me join you."

"You wish to join to protect your family."

She repeated.

"You know you will be away from home regularly, that there might be missions that will lead you to other worlds as well?"

Turning around she gestured for the guards to grant him guest status.

Zokora lead him through the city, her step confident, her back straight. Now and then she greeted someone with a curt nod, one time she called someone over, handed him a sheet of paper, before she continued her way through the city, to a large building close to the part that was reserved for the council. She opened the door, using her hand and then to a room in the first floor. She'd have prefered to use the large chamber where the council met for public meetings, but that one had been badly damaged just yesterday, so this one would have to do.

"I do not believe so." His thoughts said something else. Tena is in the Ghostbloods, would that count?

Interesting. She'd expected him to name his wife. Maybe there was more to this decision than she thought.

He shook his head. "No. I come here for me, and my family. But it was my decision." He looked at her. "I, for witnesses, require only who needs to see it."

"Given your extraordinary circumstances, you have half a year to show you mean your words. Afterwards we'll accept you fully."

"Is that acceptable for you?"
