Cyanic he/him Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Just now, I Am Witless said: Again, how much time has passed? It's like late night now, but not late enough to be asleep yet 1
Archer he/him Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Quote Witless, six hours maybe? Not long. Ax, I'm still not entirely sure if Mace has even died yet... There was a body switch and a nephew, it got confusing after that. I need to plan these things better in future. I'll avoid committing to one particular explanation until I find a good time for a big reveal. Surprise Kandra! Surprise Mistwraith! Twins! Clones! So many possibilities... I'm going to go try the side quest, then maybe come back when Ink gets the new thread going. "I don't know!" Klasten responded. "The vision wasn't very clear. The stone was too nice looking to be outdoors. And the inscription was way too flattering." He searched his memory, trying to recall where he'd seen it before "The Hall! I knew it was familiar. It's from Mace's statue in the Hall. That's where I need to go." Klasten hopped upon his horse. "Thanks for the help, ma'am. See you around." With that, he and Kicker took off at a gallop, leaving behind a a cloud of dust and an extremely messy room. 1
PrinceDusty he/him Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Night was completely overwhelmed by the topic of bombs and everything else that was going on, so he fainted from existence for a few days. When he got wifi back up When he returned, everything seemed to be okay. Since no librarians had pointed out the locations of paper and pencils, he decided to use the surge of Divison [Dustbringer] to carve his messages into the Waystop walls instead.
+Sorana she/her Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 "I know some basics with a staff, but I am not really good with it. Yzabet showed me something, so that I can at least defend myself a bit should the need arise." She gestured towards her walking staff. "Why do you ask?" Damaya looked over at Dayne. Meanwhile Coru headed over Araha, carefully placing himself somewhere behind her, out of Damayas line of sight. "Thank you." he whispered. "That was perfect."
Cyanic he/him Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Araha, put a hand to her back, toward wherever Corundum's voice was coming from, and did a thumbs up, though she wasn't sure if spren understood human gestures, well Ran did, but Ran's been around for a while. Right now though the training grounds have become much more crowded than earlier. There was even the woman from earlier in the lobby, asking if they wanted to train, but she was talking with someone else now, Clay apparently, who had a sign of 'CALL ME KLASTEN' on his breastplate now.
wiritospren he/him Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 " hmm, well, because this is a training ground for fighting isn't?" Dayne decided to ignore all that had happened with the woman, but still, he was prepared to react if something happen, just as always
Cyanic he/him Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Araha decided to give her own answer too, "I guess, the training grounds isn't really for fighting only, mostly for practicing Investiture and such. I did hear of a training grounds for actual combat somewhere in Scadrial. Apparently, the person that runs it is a veteran, my Master even heard rumors that he was around for the war all those years ago." Again, Araha's memories of the war threatened to surface, but just mentioning it wasn't that bad and she was able to push those memories down with ease.
Sherlock Holmes he/him Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Tena snorted at what Klasten said, and pulled out a Tia card, transporting to her house in the Alleycity. She Steelpushed her way across the city, then walked in the front door of the Hall of Legends. This is where Mace’s remains were, right?
+Sorana she/her Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 (edited) Damaya nodded. "Yes, this place is specialized to train with your investiture. But I've trained here with my staff before." And somehow they were back to her most favourite topic. But it didn't help. She couldn't go back to them without learning something first. "That's why I am here, at the waystop." She fell silent, unsure how to continue and get around using stormlight at the same time. She needed to get a grip on herself and this topic. And that soon. Edited September 3, 2018 by Sorana
Silva Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 (edited) Pry wasn’t too far from a group of three talking. “...actual combat somewhere in Scadrial. Apparently, the person that runs it is a veteran, my Master even heard rumors that he was around for the war all those years ago,” one was saying. Another responded, but Pry missed what she said. She was tempted to get up and possibly - shock! - be social, but decided against it. No one wanted a fourth wheel. Needless to say, she did stand up. Her leg had fallen asleep, but Pry avoided the temptation to shake it. Anti-social and slightly mad was not a first impression she wanted to make. Lacking anything better to do, Pry began to polish the wood of her dueling cane. The man who’d trained had greatly disapproved of her weapon choice. “It’s a manly weapon,” he’d told her, “Not one for a pretty girl like you.” That had made her more convinced it was the right fit - it gave her a second advantage. No one would expect her to know how to wield one and no one would even suspect her to be a lefty at hand-to-hand combat. She liked having her elements of surprise. Edited September 3, 2018 by Silva
Sherlock Holmes he/him Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Tena stormed back to the Waystop in a storm of metal coins, all flying around her at various speeds, heights, and, ahem, velocities. She landed in the forest, the coins coming to a halt above her head. She quit Pushing on them, and held out her pouch, all of them falling neatly in. "Soo," Tena asked, "anyone still want combat training?"
Life&Death Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Mr Amber walked up towards the group, his cane in hand. “Since the Waysop has calmed down for a time, and you have shown interest in training, I am now able to assist. I am familiar with all forms of investiture and different earth Magics such as epic or crystin abilities, oculatorship, and basic rithmatics.” He looked over to see a girl polishing a dueling cane. ”I can also help you with that if you are interested.” Then he addressed the women who came flying in with Allomancy. “I can assist in combat practice, but it might be best if another person does that.” He gestures to his twisted left leg. “I’m not the most maneuverable person ever.”
Cyanic he/him Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 The talk of different Investitures, Investitures that Araha's never heard of before got her excited. She approached the man first, "you mentioned some different Investiture types that I'm not familiar with yet, I know about Epic Investiture, but haven't heard of the other three, do those have something to do with those lenses and chalks on the table?" She asked. "Oh and by the way, I don't think I've caught your name yet, Mr.?" She added.
Silva Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 “I’m good, thanks,” she told him after the other girl. Pry tapped her chin thoughtfully, then raised an eyebrow. “Unless you happen to be left-handed that is.”
Life&Death Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 “My name is Mr Amber.” Mr Amber said, smiling. “The lenses are a form of oculator magic, the chalk is rithmatic.” Looking over at the other girl. “I unfortunately am right handed. But may I ask why you want to practice with someone left handed? And could I get both of your names?”
Cyanic he/him Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 She'd introduced herself earlier, but she guessed he was kind of busy to catch the name since there was so much people around. "I'm Araha Sollus." She nodded with a smile. "I'm really curious about these Investitures, but, um, Ms. Yzabet hasn't been around for a while, is she alright?"
+Sorana she/her Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Damaya followed Araha and listened to the conversation.
Life&Death Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 “Miss Yzabet wasn’t feeling well but should be returning soon. I can teach you about these investitures but to do that correctly I must know what investiture you have.” Nodding to the newcomer he continued. “I don’t need to know all of your abilities, as we live in a dangerous world and keeping secrets is a matter of survival. But knowing some of your abilities will help me teach you better.” And it might help me heal myself. He thought.
Silva Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 (edited) “Prism Acute,” she told Mr. Amber, “but I go by Pry. I was trained by a right-handed man, but my natural inclination is left. It messes up my coordination and I have yet to figure out how to mirror the motions with switched hands.” She didn’t feel bad not mentioning her investiture - being a brass ferring didn’t effect combat. She’d long given up on Devaan showing up and figured she may as well make use of her being there. Edited September 3, 2018 by Silva 1
Sherlock Holmes he/him Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 (edited) Iffina, Tena’s Cultivationspren, turned into two battleaxes, one in each of Tena’s hands. She waved these at the two girls, Damaya and Araha, and the old man, Mr. Amber, pointedly. “I’m a steel Compounder, Edgedancer, and first Heightening Awakener,” she said to Mr. Amber. Edited September 3, 2018 by AxeliustheGreat
+Sorana she/her Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Damaya nodded. "Ms Yzabet said, that I belong to the order of Lightweavers. But I have some problems regarding my surges." she answered Mr Amber truthfully.
Cyanic he/him Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 (edited) "I can surgebind." Araha said. "Um... you may have seen it earlier with the whole bomb incident." She chuckled, "that was Gravitation, I also have Adhesion." He'd probably be able to deduce that she was a Windrunner, "I'm curious about those chalks though, you said they were Rithmatic? What kind of Investiture is that, and can anyone become a Rithmatism...ist? Rithist? Rithmaticist?" She also noticed the woman that she spoke to earlier seeming to offer combat, she did say something about combat practice earlier. Araha didn't want to fight yet though, not when the most unique aspect of her fighting style could be revealed. She turned to her and smiled nervously, waving her hands in a gesture of decline, and mouthing the word 'sorry!' Edited September 3, 2018 by Cyanic
Life&Death Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 (edited) "So we have a steel compounder, Edgedancer, Awakener, Lightweaver, and Windrunner." Mr Amber replied, keeping his voice upbeat and interested but inwardly he sighed in disappointment. So much investiture, with not a single Elsecaller. An Elsecaller is what he needed. "How experienced are you with your abilities?" He asked Araha and Tena. Addressing Pry he spoke again. "I may be right handed but I am proficient enough with my left hand that I could teach that way if you are interested." Quote Since Mr Amber is very very old, I thought that I would make sense if he had practiced with both hands. Edited September 3, 2018 by Life&Death
Sherlock Holmes he/him Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 (edited) Tena responded to Damaya's question unthinkingly. "It's a common problem, with many kinds of Radiants, to be incapable or unwilling to Surgebind because of your spren or many other things. I myself was Surgebinding when I was, say, fourteen or something. I'm not sure how I'm 'broken,' which is the term for when something traumatic happens that enables you to be a Radiant, but I was subconsciously Surgebinding for a while before I was told what Iffina was, and I never had any problems. However, your problem is likely rooted from, perhaps, something that someone did to you. If you let it go, or acknowledge it, you will probably be able to Surgebind as per normal. It could also be that you are bonded to the wrong kind or spren in your perception, and that keeps you from embracing your true nature." Tena shrugged. "As I said, Radiants have this problem commonly, and they can often overcome it, so it's likely only a temporary setback." She tilted her head at Damaya questioningly. Araha's questions were easier; "Rithmatism, I'm pretty sure it's called. It's an inherent ability that anyone can have on that Earth, and cannot be gained by any amount of training. Rithmatism is not Investiture; it's another kind of magic that is entirely different. I don't know who created it, or how. Its practitioners are called Rithmatists."
