Sorry for the delay. That's actually a good idea, although Kera will probably come in at some point because she has experience with this. Would you be interested in RPing Mira?

Lena followed them and stood by the side of the room, waited.

Mira entered the room after a short while, her apron had bloddy splatches on it, but her arms were clean. She was a portly, older woman and nodded shortly at Lena, then stepped up to Nekorb. She quickly looked him over and then gave a series of instructions to one of the sisters.

"Tell me what happened."

She asked Lena and then listened to the story.

"The Tia card didn't work..."

She muttered.

"Call Kera, she has some experience with this."

Then she looked at Nogard again.

"And prepare him for an extensive surgery."

2 floors up, in the staff room...

The phone rang.

"I'll get it!" cried Terim. Kera smiled to herself as he leaped up to get the phone. She had only been here for a week or so, but she had already gotten to know many of her colleagues. Terim was always so energetic, in everything he did.

"Hey! Kera!" he cried. She looked up. "What?"

"It's for you. Some guy in room 13's badly hurt. His name's Nekorb. Mira requested your help."

She frowned. "Why would she ask me? I'm out of spells, and I'm not very good at Regrowth."

He spoke into the receiver. "She says she out of spells." More chatter on the line. "Oh? Really?" He turned back to her. "Remember that dude you healed when you first got here? It's him."

Kera froze. Then she shoved her chair back and ran out of the room and down to room 13.

"It's a beautiful day to save lives."

Mira quoted and then set to work. This was going to take a while. She started with worst bleedings, tried to staunch them without the poor guy dying.

Then the door opened, Kera rushed in.

Mira nodded at her and gestured for one of the assistants to step away, so that Kera could step closer.

Kera walked up to the side of the bed. His face was unmistakable. She sank into a nearby chair, recalling all that had happened on that strange day.

"Have you tried any Investitures yet?" she asked quietly.

Posted

"No."

Mira replied while stichting a wound together.

"He was bought here by a friend, who told me that a Tia card hadn't worked at all. As I knew you are familiar with him, I wanted to ask you first, before I uselessly carve a stamp and he dies."

This post is in era 3, some hours after his scene in the Interval thread.

A man was sprinting to the ER room, with a body of Redatrick slung around him. The running man was a farmer, everything about him screamed ‘look here, I’m a farmer,’ if Redatrick had been conscious enough to notice, he’d roll his eyes, but he couldn’t at the moment.

“I found him crawling towards my home,” the farmer explained as he showed Redatrick to the doctors. Redatrick was in pretty good health for someone who was almost dead. Hardened blood caked the area around his wounds, and a crossbow bolt lay inside of him, next to bullets and knife wounds. Multiple attacks, from multiple sources.

He was wrapped like a mummy in tourniquets, obviously the farmer didn’t have an idea what to do, but some of them were working, obviously, because Redatrick wasn’t dead. Not yet, anyway.

I can take one of the doctors if you want?

Gladly.

The doctor listened to the farmer and then looked at the man he had brought in.

He drew his eyebrows together in concentration, taking in the severe injuries. Then he called for an asisstant and listed different supplies he would need. Then he ordered some of staff to prepare him for an emergency surgery. He needed to remove the crossbow bolt and the bullets first, before he could start using investiture to heal the life threatening wounds, the others he would stich together.

A few hours later he checked on his patient again. If everything had went well, he should wake up soon.

By that time the farmer had gone back to his farm, leaving Redatrick to the care of the doctors.

-

Redatrick opened his eyes. It was white. His thoughts were slow, and sluggish, and he wasn’t in pain anymore. And he was staring at white. This must be heaven, he thought dreamily. So, this was what all the Worldhoppers had been babbling about when they said there was a place after you died? But something still bothered Redatrick. He’d done so much bad, killed and robbed, why was he in heaven?

Something drifted into his peripheral vision. Redatrick turned his head very slightly and saw a man in white. God? No, there was no god. Just the Phoenix. Redatrick nodded to himself, and focused on the man. He was a doctor. Which meant... Redatrick wasn’t dead? His breathing began to increase rapidly.

“I need to get out of here,” he said to the doctor slowly, his mind still in a haze. “They’ll come after me. Please.”

"Last time I tried, the Investiture went in... partially. Most of it got blocked by something. The blockage might have increased, I'm not certain."

She breathed in, feeling Stormlight rush into her.

"I think that it's worth a try to see if it still works at all."

She laid her hand on his arm and began to push Investiture in.

The man replied sternly.

"I can call someone to accompany you, but you need to rest for now."

He smiled at the stranger.

"I'll try to speed your recovery up as much as possible."

Redatrick nodded, though he was still breathing fast. They would be after him. Jarret, Pell, Jones and the others. He’d maybe gotten half a day or a day of a head start, but then what? He’d already wasted most of that now, and it wouldn’t be long before they found him. But he still needed to rest. After all, he would be able to run faster after he was all healed up.

But healed. How the rust did someone heal someone like Redatrick, with injuries pointing out of every point of him? “Where am I?” He asked. “And how did you heal me?” He didn’t know of a single hospital in the Roughs, which meant... storms, had he really visited another planet, like the rambling worldhoppers had said?

The doctor started to speak, but then he was called away. Promising to send someone over to explain he hurried away.

Mike walked into the room and looked at the stranger. He had spent the last year doing the jobs nobody else wanted, stepping on the toes of the higher ups never really paid. And now he had to check why that stranger had travelled here, what he intended. He knew he was lucky to be alive, but still, mostly he was bored.

"Hey. Doc told me you asked some questions."

He sat down on a stool.

"You're in Alleycity. In the Alleyverse. This hospital looks after everybody who needs help, though they might ask after a donation if some sorts."

He thought for a while, there had been a second question? The healing, right.

"Doc healed your grave wounds using Investiture. The other he stiched together."

Would Mike look any different on his face than a normal person?

Redatrick looked to the boy who was talking to him. The boy was sitting on a stool, talking about some place.

"'Alleyverse'?" Redatrick asked. A different planet. Rust, Redatrick was on another planet! The thought was almost too much for him to comprehend. A different place, beyond Scadrial? Beyond the Roughs, and Elendel, and Weathering and all of the other places. He was somewhere new. And he knew that by jumping planets, by touching that little machine the worldhopper had dropped he'd become his own gang's, even his own family's worst enemy.

"And, you said something else," Redatrick said. He tried sitting up, where he was lying down. "Vests? What in Ruin is that, and how could it heal me?" He looked around. "And where is my hat?"

His face looks normal right now.

Mike nodded.

"Alleyverse. This,"

He indicated everything around them, only belately realizing his sleeve moved back and showed some scales covering his arms.

"Is the Alleyverse. Where do you come from?"

"Investiture is like magic."

He explained badly.

The boy gestured around, saying the place they were was the Alleyverse. Redatrick caught a glimpse of something green under his sleeve. Scales? Redatrick began taking deep breaths. Lizard people, magic? Some sort of new planet this was. And according to Worldhoppers, there were many? But, he had to remember not to trust the words of the Worldhoppers that much. After all, they’d only given him information after he and his gang hadn’t thouroughly tortured them.

And now that same gang is after me, he thought. Ex-leader, now traitor.

He looked to the kid. “Magic... like Allomancy?” He remembered the boy’s first question. “I’m from Scadrial,” he said. “Only Scadrial, and only ever Scadrial. Never,” he waved his arms around. “Out here.”

It was almost too much to take in, the worlds outside his own. But back to magic. “You said magic. I know Allomancy and Feruchemy. None of them could heal me.” He closed his eyes. “How many other magics are there?” He asked.

He’d gotten hints. He and his gang. All of them were from Worldhoppers they hunted. Some would animate corpses and send them after them, and some would fly around, teleport. Some would write symbols in the before. Redatrick and his men caught them. But of course, Redatrick and his gang had never cared about what they meant.

"Scadrial!"

Mike exclaimed and leaned forward.

"That's so cool!"

Then he realized he hadn't answered his question.

"There are many. Those that draw these symbols, then those using the light, then those with the metals. Then there are those, that are strange, but they always have a weakness and..."

He fell silent, pondering. Investiture lessons had been boring.

"Oh some can awaken things."

Shrugging he grinned a bit embaressed.

"I'm missing some, sorry."

Posted

“That’s fine,” Redatrick said quietly. That was a lot of magic. There was going to be a lot of things he’d have to understand if he wanted to run from his gang and survive in this world as well.

“And what about you?” He asked. “You didn’t tell me that there were lizard people here, like something straight outta Allomancer Jak.”

"Lizard people, I..."

Mike stared at the stranger and then hastly pulled his sleeves over his arms. He fell silent looked at his fingers. Calm, he needed to stay calm. When he was stressed, it became worse, he even had a hard time to control it when he was calm.

"I'm no lizard."

He whispered and then hastily changed the topic.

"How did you come here? And what are you doing?"

Redatrick was caught off guard for a second as the cheerful boy in front of him suddenly appeared... worried? Redatrick couldn’t catch the feeling, but he did catch the kid was hiding something. No one changed a topic like that.

But, Redatrick hadn’t even been in this world a day. He didn’t have nearly enough information to try and figure out why the boy had changed the topic. So he answered, obscuring any extraordinarily violent details.

“A man I was chasing dropped some sort of metal card with a symbol on it. I kept it, and one day clicked on it and the next thing I know I’m in the middle of nowhere on this... planet.”

It was still hard to wrap his head around it. “And what am I doing now? Running, from the people who didn’t like the fact that I left. That reminds me,” he stood up, then immediately sat down as stars danced in front of his eyes.

“If I run away from here,” he said. “Will you tell the doctor?”

Good. So he wouldn’t tell the doctor.

Redatrick thought about his question. Where would he go? Anywhere I can’t be tracked, he thought.

“I don’t know,” he said honestly. He was far too unfamiliar with this place to suddenly begin exploring. It was like moving from town to town in the Roughs. Each place had its own rules, it’s own gangs to watch for. So you’d have to get yourself calibrated before hunting anyone.

Calibration. He needed to get himself calibrated.

“Tell me about all the notable places here,” he said. Already he was putting too much trust in the boy, but he was the only person here. “What places would be dangerous and safe. If you know.”

Mike nodded impressed. The man was strong, professional, not goving up, even if he just learned, that he was in a different world. One day Mike would be strong as well.

"Keep away from the Alleys."

He answered.

"The hospital is safe. As for the rest, nothing is."
