Edgedancer he/him Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Ben, Sart, Jim, Thomas and Sifa are voting for the first time, though Ben is giving his Breath away. The polls have a 46% turnout rate. I voted for Joe on the third day, although my vote doesn´t show up in the write up. I´m guessing awakend rope.
Wyrmhero he/him Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 (edited) I voted for Joe on the third day, although my vote doesn´t show up in the write up. I´m guessing awakened rope. Fixed, thanks. As an aside, that's curious, and plays a little bit with Aonar's possible scenarios. It could be, then, that the Pahn Kahl put a Breath into an Awakened Rope to ensure they got exactly Ninth Heightening without going over and letting us all know that someone had hit Tenth. Or it could've been on Aili's suggestion to stop Jeo getting lynched, come to think of it. Aili, mind clarifying if that Awakened Rope was at your insistence or not? If not, then that suggests that the PKs have been tweaking their Heightenings slightly by storing Breaths away. It might be they have Breaths stored away, ready to retrieve them in order to use their sword. Something we should probably take into account before assuming they will run out of Breaths quickly. I love how 'Pahn Kahl' abbreviates the same way as 'Player Killers', incidentally Edited April 20, 2014 by Wyrmhero
bartbug he/him Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 (edited) As Aonar says, for me to be Pahn Kahl, the Breath would have to be ridiculously stacked in their favor. I started with three Breaths, and we all know I gave them to Aonar. That means that, minus my Breaths, the Pahn Kahl would have a lot of Breaths. You're arguments against the plan don't make sense, Meta. If they try to kill Aodan with the Sword, then they lose someone. And if everyone is drab, then they can't use the Sword. Ta da! (And since I know that you are smart, Meta, I am deeply suspicious of you and Gammers). EDIT: The day is almost over, and logistically, it won't be possible to get everyone to give up their Breath, which kind of takes away the point. So, the plan won't work tonight. Ah well. You guys can kill me, but as Aodan has said, the chances of me being Pahn Kahl are almost nil. So there's that. However, if you guys end up killing me, I reserve the right to say, "I told you so, when Meta and Gammers are shown as Pahn Kahl. Still on the fence about anyone else, though. Metacognition he/him Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Night 2: There are two possible situations here. 1. As the previous Night Kill was unsuccessful, we can assume they won between one and five Breaths in the lottery. Statistically, it is far more likely for them to have been able to gain one or two Breath in the lottery than it is for them to gain four or five, so it is fairly safe to assume they started with around eight Breaths. They would have been careful to transfer exactly the amount required for the Sword. The Swordbearer would not have taken any Night Action. Whichever Pahn Kahl did not transfer their Breath would preform the Night Kill. The majority of the 2. The Pahn Kahl do not gain enough Breath to make the Sword. Every Pahn Kahl transfers Breath to the Swordbearer, and the Swordbearer makes the Night kill. In this case, they likely would have started with seven Breaths or less. Every Pahn Kahl save the Swordbearer is now Drab. I voted for Joe on the third day, although my vote doesn´t show up in the write up. I´m guessing awakend rope. Or, it could be that you are Drab from giving your breaths up to the Swordbearer. As Aodan points out, they likely wouldn't have enough breaths to put into an Awakened Rope at that time and those really are the only two possible actions the PK could've taken. Unless Claincy let them give their breaths to the Swordbearer on the same night as he made the Sword (due to his order of operations, they shouldn't be able to do that, so if that is what happened, Claincy should clarify that), the Swordbearer would need the breaths a full night beforehand. As Aonar says, for me to be Pahn Kahl, the Breath would have to be ridiculously stacked in their favor. While I agree with Aodan that you giving your breaths to him means that you just can't be PK without Claincy giving them an inordinate amount of breath to start with, that still doesn't mean that the plan is flawed. How is it that you keep forgetting about the breath lottery when everyone keeps talking about it? They likely used it to get the breaths they needed to make a sword in the first place! Do you think that they're just going to go, "Welp, we made a Sword. We should stop trying to get other breaths now and let the Swordbearer die." They can't use the Sword for a day or two as they kill other people. I'm thinking far longer than that. You haven't actually removed the Sword from play, you've delayed it and set everyone back in the process. They lose one person, remove almost all of the breath in the game by killing Aodan, and the person who dies is not their Swordbearer, so if I were them, I would consider this an acceptable loss. Worst Case scenario for us is that they go this route and one of the Returned saves Aodan. We still lose all the breath and we're down technically two Returned, as the other will be needed to make the Mercenary functional again. We're down our Returned, we're low on breath, we still don't know who the Swordbearer is, and we'll be competing with the PK in the lottery, hoping that random chance gives us the breaths and not them. This plan just does not work because it means we still lose all the breath. Now, I don't like it being scattered about for the PK to take as they please anymore than I like this plan, but at least if it's out and about to everyone, it can be used to make strawmen and Ropes and such. Things that will help us find the PK. Things that allow us to coordinate actions per turn that make it harder for the PK to hide instead of the single action that Aodan would have if he wanted to keep the 5th Heightening protection. So I'm going to retract for Bartholomew back to my original vote of Wyrm. He's still the most suspicious to me. 1
Claincy he/him Posted April 20, 2014 Author Posted April 20, 2014 The sword maker had to have sufficient breath at the start of the night to create Cuddles.
bartbug he/him Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I guess you're right, the Breath Lottery does make the everyone-drab plan not work well. I was kind of hoping that we would have 2 mercenaries, one to kill the normal Pahn Kahl and one to kill the Swordbearer. Alright, fine, Meta. Man, the Breath Lottery is annoying. Wyrm seems fine to me.
Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 The day had been long. To Summon, time seemed to almost stand still but that was likely due to the high number of accusations that had been thrown around. He had a short list of people high on his list and had mainly voted for Rick initially to see where other people were leaning. The day had not been a let down in that regard but the wide array of accusations had proven to be more confusing than helpful. He had since been given reason to hold off on Rick but Summon didn't want to go another day without adding his voice to the proceedings. "I'm sorry Grim, but you worked too closely with Jeo. You might have just made a poor choice in who to trust but people's words and associations are all I have to go on at this point." 1
the Gleeman he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Well, on the off chance we are wrong LIKE HOW META WAS WITH ME LAST GAME it was nice knowing you Wyrm.Don'thold a gruge at all... Sorry Meta 1
Metacognition he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I'm good, I'm not omniscient, Gleeman.
bartbug he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Wow, when Meta plays, it messes with my mind. I have this awful compulsion to treat Meta's words as truth. STAWP IT. 1
Aonar he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Well. I really didn't want to do this, but now that I have to, it may be too late. Wyrm is a Returned. I cannot be sure of his alignment, as I have not yet been able to Spy him (and he has acted very suspiciously), but I am fairly certain he is what he claims to be. If he is Pahn Kahl, then they will lose a powerful player, but if he isn't then we will lose a still more valuable asset.
Metacognition he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Retract from Wyrm and voting for Grim then, though I would ask that Wyrm is checked tonight. That way we can confirm his status. I suggest he also just reveal himself now, so he'll have the benefit of the 5th heightening, just in case.
bartbug he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Fine. From Wyrm to Grim. And before anyone asks, I'm not doing this because of Meta. Or at least, I hope...
the Gleeman he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Meh, so gamemaking doesn't make you omniscient... Retract vote for Wyrm, vote no one currently. See what happens when I vote! 1
Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Wow, when Meta plays, it messes with my mind. I have this awful compulsion to treat Meta's words as truth. STAWP IT. Really? I'm just the opposite. I read over everything Meta says with the expectation that he's somehow tricking me with his tricksy words. Meh, so gamemaking doesn't make you omniscient... Retract vote for Wyrm, vote no one currently. See what happens when I vote! You might want to color code those so they get counted.Sorry again Grim if you are innocent and my vote was the beginning of this little flood. I really thought Wyrm was a goner. If you are PK, I take all the credit (it doesn't matter if Aonar's announcement was the real difference). 3
Wyrmhero he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Well, might as well get the benefit of Seventh Heightening. I am indeed a Returned.
Claincy he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Author Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) 3 hours remaining till the end of this very long day. And I am back home and able to post properly now So I can use colours again! YAY! Edit: And yes, Wyrm is a returned. Edited April 21, 2014 by lord Claincy Ffnord
el_warko he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Elo was furious. Those orphans had gotten away. The last he'd heard of them was "Elo's short, Elo's short Our legs are longer, we'll never be caught"! He'd never caught them true. He had caught some bunnies. The bunnies were unhurt, just . . . . . . . . trimmed. He used the fur to make a fake beard and slip in the brewery. He left with several recipes. He left the rabbit fur in an open vat. Sifa almost caught him. Almost. He hadn't heard a peep form those besmirching his honour. He was a man of honour, he was a man of action, he was a man of passion. Thousands, Hundreds, Dozens (maybe two (okay one)) of women could attest to that. He swung past the library deliberately dog-eared some books (this is my pet hate, it hurts to even type it, even in character and will take you off my book lend list if you're ever on it and do it to me IRL) then made some noise and dropped breadcrumbs on the floor. Laughing he left and sauntered in the the town square. "Aodan! Elo's voice boomed out. You act like the village saviour and have hoards of people worshipping your very word, your every command. Yes I am jealous. You should all listen to me! Hallandren of D'Relin, open your eyes. You've sold your souls and your breath to an Idrian. Really? Assuming he can rid the land of the Pahn Kahl, you have handed all the power in the negotiations to an Idrian. You wanted an unnecessary bridge in your village? (you will be roped) You wanted tax break on your fabrics? (you will be roped). You were caught in a compromising position (strawmanned). None of your votes will count (one way or another). I am temped to vote for you though that would be misinterpreted as Pahn Kahl, so I shall refrain. I will instead cast my vote onto Chide, in the spirit of consistency." I will miss you Grim. Seriously, Elo will need a new archnemisis.
Claincy he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Author Posted April 21, 2014 Day 4 is over, no more votes will be counted. Writeup incoming if it needs saying.
Claincy he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Author Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) Night 4: Gaining Adhesion Tin The day stretched on and on, the sun barely moving in the sky as if the world itself was holding it's breath. The bunnies were far more active than normal and were seen all over town, bounding through streets and alleys and leaving small items on doorsteps. As always the discussion started slow but built up as the day progressed and as arguments were made and alliances revealed and considered the votes began to build up and shift. Many different individuals came under suspicion but as the day progressed as usually happened, one person started to collect notably more votes. For much of the long day it seemed that Wyrm would certainly be killed as voice after voice rose against him. But finally as the day was fading Wyrm stepped into the centre of the village and changed. The scholar grew taller, his muscles firming up and his features shifting. In moments the stunned ambassadors and villagers found themselves in the presence of another returned. Suddenly uncertain they milled around, looking for other targets and rapidly settling on the injured Grim. How had he really been injured? Those were definitely sword or dagger cuts, perhaps he had been attacking innocents? With little time remaining in the day several of the villagers took charge and declared Grim guilty. Gritting their teeth they went to his room at the Green Potato and quietly slit the unconscious man's throat. __________________________________________________________________________________________ Grim was a normal Idrian. Edgedancer he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) Goodbye, Grim. From all the Surges Adhesion is the one for when we kill an villager. I just want hidden text. Edited April 21, 2014 by Edgedancer
Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Technically speaking, we killed him during Progression. But if it makes you feel better, unless we get really lucky again, the PK will likely kill one or two of us during Adhesion.
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 As the Sun set, Jeo continued directing the Rabbits. He had been given orders, and he would see them Fulfilled. Rabbits were amazingly Intelligent. Smarter than Some People in his Opinion. They had know who the Pahn Kahl were as soon as The Murders had started. So Clan had given them a Task. "Pipkin, take this Package to The Restaraunt, Aili will know what to do With it. Woundwart, you deliver this to The Pahn Kahl Hideout. Blackavar, Make sure that Cowslip isn't Interfering " What they did this night Could possibly change the Course of History. Later, like in Past Nights, Clan would give them Breaths to Deliver to Certain People. Duty Done for now, Jeo hopped down the Road to the Red Salmon. It had taken him only a couple of hours to escape the Cage that Aili had crafted. But he should probably get back in it before Gammer or Sart tried to eat him again. But First, He needed to Find Something. Behind the Restaurant lay a Corpse. That of a Chef, killed by Lifeless. Him. Jeo had tried to Posses Aodan, but he had had to many Breaths. But could he Posses his own Corpse? And would his Mind survive? Well, there was no Harm in trying. Jeo Jumped up onto his chest, and said the Words. "My Breath to yours. My Life Becomes yours." Nothing happened. Wait, he was still squeaking in Rabbit. That was why he couldn't awaken, he needed to Speak in the Common tongue. "Well, that's not going to Work." So Jeo left his Fallen body, and reentered the Restaurant. Time for bed. 2
Nepene he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 You do get evil roles a lot. I can see why you and the rabbits under your command would be somewhat frustrated. I wonder what you'd have to do to let a spirit possess a person. Thinking about it, the most obvious way is hemalurgy probably. Spike out their innate investiture, spike out their mental strength, possess them Enough spikes would open a person up to possession. Crack the spirit open and suck out the insides and you can fill it with something else. I can see Kelsier doing something like that at some point. I'd love to see him around again in Mistborn 2. Alan walked around distraught. He had puzzled it out, worked out where the breaths had gone. It couldn't have been Grim. Why had no one else realized? He sat down on the road stared blankly out into the night, sad that another of his countrymen were gone. He saw the rabbit, sitting on the chest of the dead man. "Little rabbit. You wouldn't kill a man would you? No you wouldn't. It's we humans who are doing that. damnation."
Mailliw73 he/him Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Sorry I wasn't able to get on much during the day! I was busy. What with Easter weekend and all. Aili awoke with a start. She had fallen asleep after accusing Wyrm and missed out on the whole day. Wyrm was a Returned too? She was almost sure she had known that. It was as if the monk had whispered it into her ear. Who would die next?
