Hi! My name is Rhapsody. I've been a ghost member here for some time and now finally decided to join =).

I've read Sanderson for years now. Since 2005 or 2006 when I stumbled upon Elantris in our local library and have read all of his published works since then.

Hope we'll get along!

Hmm, that's difficult as it changes around a lot. From the Cosmere works it is probably Vin, but Kaladin is a close second, as I am really hooked on his story and wondering how he will change. From the non-cosmere it's probably Steven. I really like the Legion books and I love how he handles his aspects. =)

Hi, and I like your name. Welcome! Which book is your favorite?

Hello thanks for the warm welcome. My favourite book is probably Elantris. As it was the first Samderson book I read I will always have a special Memory of it.

Welcome to the Shard @Rhapsody! :)

If you could use any of Brandon's magic systems which one would you choose and why?

Which secret society on Roshar are you most interested in?

Would you rather be able to burn one minute worth of Atium every week or be a full feruchemist?

@Ark1002 thank you but I think I prefer my spiritweb without holes. So I must decline!

@TheHarlemWorldhoppers I would prefer being a full feruchemist. It is much more versatile and Atium is really most useful in a fight, which I don't plan to get into.

Secret societies on Roshar would be the ghostbloods. I mean they have worldhoppers in their ranks. That's cool.

The magic system is the most difficult one. It would depend on the circumstances. For example: if I was an Elantrian would I be able to access the Dor from this world. Would I need to move to Elantris and be able to do so? If I became an awakener, how much breath do I have and can I get breath from people here (which would be awesome since I would be much easier: no superstition against giving up your breath and most would probably not know what saying these words does). For surgebinding it would depend upon me being able to get enough stormlight.

So given that I can use the magic here I would become an Elantrian or awakener.

If the magic works as in the books (Elantrians need to be close to Elantris, you can only get Breath from native Nalthians, etc) I would become a feruchemist (or preferably a fullborn if possible). As long as I get the right metals it should be useful everywhere and has a lot of praktical applications.

Though if given the oportunity I would probably become like Hoid and worldhop to collect all the Systems =)

Being a full feruchemist is ridiculously versatile. Have you ever wished to be able to watch a movie or read a book again for the first time? Now you can by storing your memories in a Coppermind.

You could become a world class athlete by storing attributes such as speed and strength. In the 21st Century most people live a largely sedentary lifestyle which is perfect for storing physical attributes.

For the sake of the question I'd imagine there to be an Earth equivalent of Elantris where you will be less powerful the further you are away from Earth-Elantris. For convenience this location could be where you currently live. If you can gather enough breaths as an Awakener you become functionally immortal, as in you won't die of natural causes. I myself would want to be a full feruchemist as it just has so many real world practical applications.

I know that's why I find it so difficult to decide on the magic system.

As an Elantrian I could basically reprogramm the world around me, which makes it the most versatile in my opinion. And I would be immortal as well. That the magic is so location dependent makes it a bit of a let down, but I think I could cope with that. And one could probably find some way to get around that given enough time.

As an awakener not only would I get more benefits the more Breath I gather like perfekt color recognition, agelessnes (which is a lot more awesome than simple immortality. I mean who wants to be an immortal grandma or skeleton?) and many more. Also I can have objekts around me do my work for me, which apeals a lot to a lazy person like me. More time to read books!

Feruchemist sounds like a lot of fun too, but it doesn't have as many applications in a modern society, as the other two. Exept for zinc which is awesome. Copper feels a bit redundant though since we have the internet. Granted Feruchemy has the advantage that it is not dependent upon a location or the extraction of Breath from others.

Now that I think about it forgery could be a lot of fun, too. And should be applicable in our world without too much of a stretch.

Actually not. It was the name of my first DnD character and I loved it so much that it has become my staple go to for character names =)

And it first was meant as a reference to the Rhapsodie as a form of music. In a Rhapsodie you have different parts of a piece that are only loosely connected and they often seem to jump from one emotional extreme to the other. Similarly I imagined my character to be a bit whimsical and just doing what she felt like at that moment. Additionally I wanted her to feel very emotional. Kind of living each emotion to it's extreme but never lingering on any one too long.

So that's where the name comes from.

I actually only heard of the band a couple years later by a fellow gamer who asked the exact same question as you.

Personally I think Bronze feruchemy would be hella useful, but then I have issues with my sleep schedule that I could fix by storing when I'm supposed to be sleeping and tapping when I'm supposed to be awake.

@CrazyRioter I know that one.

But I think I wouldn't waste my one chance to get a magic of my choice on simply sleeping better. There's so much cooler stuff to be done!

Though copper feruchemy might be nice as I could reread every book I ever saw everytime and everywhere :)

For example every book, novella and short story brandon has ever written ;)

would also help with quoting all those relevant passages and wobs.

From the art it looks to be her with the flame sort of reflecting off her hair. I just got caught on the face... *Sheepish grin*
