Mace was caught by surprise. But he waved his honour guard away. Rashan's words have him pause. He recognized Rashan, but Rashan didn't recognize him.

A shattered stone.

A smoking gun.

Regret

But none of that mattered anymore. He was committed to this course. And he needed allies.

"We're all doing it. Some of us are more aware of it than others. But we're all doing it, whether we want to or not," he said, mostly to himself. When Rashan gave him a strange look, he shook his head and focussed on the matter at hand.

"Have a seat, both of you." As they did so, Mace quickly whispered instructions to the leader of the Sentinels.

As they sat on the grass, Mace pulled a package of cookies from his satchel. Taking one, he passed the bag to the others and indicated they should help themselves.

"Humans," he began, "are by default evil. But mankind is, in essence, good. Something about having other people around makes us good. So the measure of a man isn't what he did in public, but what he does in private. By that measure, I am not a good man."

He took a bite of his cookie and continued. "I have made many mistakes in my life. And I'm about to make one more. Soon, my men and I will march on the Dark Alley. Not for glory or for revenge, but because it is the right thing to do. When faced with two bad choices, one must choose the path that causes the least harm.

Soon, a wave of darkness will arise from the city over there. Demons, beavers, dragons... All manner of monstrous beasts. But that is just the beginning. After the vanguard will come the soulless ones. The cultists and the spiked. He controls them now. And He lost his soul long ago. The choice for me was simple.

I'm going to stand against their tyranny. And I'd you to join me in this fight."

Having issued his challenge, Mace went back to munching his cookie.

Bored by her inactivity, Yzabet broke the fourth wall and convinced her RPer to move her to the battlefield.

Quote

That's not how it works.

"Heck yeah it is! I've broken the fourth wall before."

Quote

You've cracked it before, but this is breaking it! The two things are totally different.

"It's right there. It's not hard to break or crack. All I have to do is look right at it and wink."

Quote

That's not...… okay, that's probably how Hoid would do it.

"So you'll take me to the battlefield?"

Quote

Are you kidding? I'm more bored than you are. I'm DYING to see how this goes down. Just don't die yourseld. AND remember, you're an Edgedancer. Heal injured TUBA members. I don't want to have to make another Alleyverse character. Also, I'm working on your backstory. Anything you want?

"Just make it brutal, so brutal Dalinar and Rathalas look tame by comparison."

Quote

Tough, but I'll try.

Yzabet glanced over at Mace, then ordered a few mimes to repair the shattered fourth wall.

Death grabbed Yzabet by her wall breaking hammer. "Ugh, what do they teach you people these days? Does the original alleyverse 4th wall breaker have to teach you everything? You gotta have style. Canon? Can be bent. Backstory? See the Joker. Powers? Can be gained and lost quickly. But style? That's the cornerstone of the Alleyverse."

He extended his arms until he looked like that Jesus statue in Rio, and then he raised them towards the sky. Suddenly a group of spiked moles rose from the ground and pulled the entire 4th wall underground.

"I could have done it a thousand other ways, but I chose style. Think about it."

As he said this a field of grass popped up in front lf him woth a red carpet extending out across it. He walked along it. As he did so he seized a lightsaber from a figure lying in the dirt, chilling.

"See the reason Windu survived is that this man has style.

Death grabbed the blade part of the lightsaber and broke it into his parts, and gave himself wolverine claws out of them. Retractabke ones. Yzabet must have been impressed, because as always, Death didn't simply have style - he had STYLE.

Sorry lopen, if what I did was out of character I’ll use the other plot transport method, but I PMed you the favor before I posted it

As Devaan went to sit down he slipped on a banana peel.

“Look mate, I’ll make sure he doesn’t murder everyone, but I don’t think I can stand by you after what you did to voidus. Rashan can make his own choice, but give him all the facts before you try to coerce him to join, look him in the eyes, and tell him the truth. Tell him you murdered his mentor, Tell him you were the one who sent Typhoon to kill Solace, the same Typhoon that murdered Rashan. Then let him make his decision”

Devaan was infuriated, Mace was trying to make is friend join a cause that would force Rashan’s hand against people that trusted and respected him.

“You claim that the right choice is the one that causes the least amount of harm, and you are correct. But this choice is not the right one. You are trying to stop the fighting, by fighting. You are trying to stop the bloodshed, By murdering. I respect you and your goals, but I don’t respect what you just tried to do. You try to destroy a tyrant, and replace him with another tyrant.”

Devaan turned to Rashan, and handed him another four zincminds, his last ones.

”Rashan, use those, and look into my soul, see whatever you wish, I’m honest with you. Then look into his soul, whatever appears to be left of it, and see how he lies.”

Quote

So, Devaan believes TUBA sent typhoon btw

Also sorry if this is written poorly, I’m writing on mobile on a very bumpy road

Life walked in since Death totally removed the fourth wall.

“Listen bro, you may be Death from a different series but I’m my own thing, and Death is part of my job discription so you kinda stole my job here. Now maybe if I ever share my story you’ll understand. But now for the reason I showed up, this RP is  kind of important so I’m going to limit fourth wall breaks from now on. That includes you since I am also Death.” Waving to all the characters Life walked out the gap in the fourth wall, waved a hand and replaced it totally back to normal.

All the characters breathed a sigh of relief as the extreme power from beyond the fourth wall faded.

Quote

FYI I actually love breaking the fourth wall, but the character of Life is very business minded. So future fourth wall breaks won’t actually annoy me.

@Life&Death, I think that we have a paid crew of mimes in-game at all times to fix it, but thanks for mending it!

Also, a big thank you to everyone who gave me upvotes. I was expecting maybe one out of that.

These past couple posts are what make the Alleyverse different from normal RPs.

Voidus continued walking through the Alleys until eventually stopping, head cocked to one side. He looked at where one of his feet was about to step and instead moved to one side through the 13th dimension.

Wouldn't do to walk through the fourth wall again. Looks like the mimes only just cleaned up the last break.

Voidus instead broke the fifth wall.

Rohan stood up, since Death had ignored his post. He shrugged and walked over to Devaan.

"How can I help?"

"I was thought of before life. I have always been feared, since the first death. Life is a hippy anthropomorphised concept, created by those weedsmoking Beetles loving hippies. Life is fickle, and always loses to me. Including this time."

Death didn't need to do anything to the fourth wall. As always, works of Life fail quickly in the presence of Death. He gave it his best smoulder and it vanished from this dimension. Time to have some fun. First thing's first: where the hell was that one ring to rule them all? He needed some dwarf bois, and comparethemidget.com was glitching. Oh and he really wanted to meet some Black Lanterns. They were pretty good lads and he let their work slide.

Death grabbed the slime and turned it into a solid. He then opened his hand and revealed a key.

"He who wishes to enter the future must at first unlock their past. This is my first clue. The key is hidden yet constantly seen. It is new yet old. They who solve the riddle shall move unlock the next part of my challenge. May the Force be with you."

Wrong. Death always wears black. The tutu turned black as soon as it touched him, and damnation, he didn't just pull it off. He storming rocked that look. At any point if he wanted he could just kill that cosmic hand, but no. Death, unlike the cosmic hand, had class. Death had style.

Everyone nearby hears cursing and mutterings seaming to come from everywhere at once. The only parts that were coherent were.

”Stupid.........Fight me...........Forgot that wasn’t Earth.........No absolute power there........Curse that man........Pineapple.”

"Holy smokes," Tena exclaimed, rocketing out of the sky to land next to Death, who was wearing a frilly black dress. He had style. "Are TUBA and the Ghostbloods on the same side yet? I mean, we're both fighting the DA. What's the point of not teaming up together?" She asked this of the air, and Death. She dropped a coin and arced over the landscape to Mace, and repeated what she'd said to Death, but added, "Could we ask Solace? It's not like you guys are fighting for the exact opposite thing or anything. You both want the DA to fall into ruin. As a sort of intermediary, I think that this would benefit both of my organizations. You're all my people, and I'd hate to see fighting among you. Why do we all have to fight each other when our goal is the same. There's enough space in the Alleycity for all of us. Except," she grinned evilly, "the DA."

Posted

They all can fight and get themselves killed. The Alleycity has already evacuated, so I don't have to worry about the people who no one else cares about. Yzabet hefted a drawstring bag - woven with aluminum - full of emerald spheres. She'd take out a few at a time as she healed people, but leave the bag closed so that no one else could steal her Stormlight..

Quote

From what I know about aluminum, this is viable.

The first, second and third walls were upset that the fourth kept getting so much attention. So they all moved to form a triangular room, so the fourth wall couldn't join anymore, and it was protected from breaking as much as it had.

The Seven Day War had begun.

Kane and his Sentinels shifted uncomfortably as the sun rose. They had split their forces in half, with half joining the TUBA Army and half joining the GB's Army.

Kane stood up and cleared his throat.

"Men. We cannot lose. We musn't lose. Divided, we fall."

Kane pumped Determination through his body, flaring his metalminds.

"But United, we stand! And today, we stand!"

The Rythym of Tension suddenly surged through Elkanah. Something big was happening. He looked at Evelyn, and then rushed over to where the power of the Rythym was coming from. It looked like a battle was about to begin. They might need him to help heal the wounded. It looked like Kane and Mace were on the side he was on, along with the Ghostblood leader and some members of that group. Lifespren begin to gather in a multitude around Elkanah, ready to become Plate if needed. This would be a bloody battle. He was scared, but also excited. He never looked forward to killing, unlike some humans, but he would defend his cause, and remeber those who died on both sides of the conflict.

Mace has no reason to like the Ghostbloods. Don't take it personally. :D

“You speak of things that are both impossible and inevitable,” Mace responded to Tena, beginning to wax philosophical. “Suggesting that the Ghostbloods and TUBA unite against a common foe to save me land, our land, may sound logical. But the validity of your points wane when one considers the nature of the two guilds. The Ghostbloods are a parasite. Incapable of creating anything lasting, they prey on others to continue their pathetic existence. They are like a child, running up a flight of stairs, pushing others into harm’s way to reach the top, caring only for themselves, never realizing that when they finally ascend…” Mace paused to scratch his shoulder. Standing outside all day was giving him a bloody tan. He made a mental note to treat with one of them newfangled cures, maybe some ointment or tar. “Son, when they ascend, they will find themselves unfulfilled. They ran without care for others, they ran etiquetteless, just to reach their goals. And still they won’t be happy.”

He looked over the grassy fields at the mobilizing armies. “All I know is that people like that are hard to work with. You can never tell if they’re about to stab you in the back or trip you up. You can jack it up to eleven, fight your hardest, win the battle - and still lose when your allies betray you at the last moment.”

Mace took a deep breath, then continued. “But sometimes you’ve got to work with people you don’t like. My uncle, He’d warn against this sort of thing. But at this stage in the game, where it’s hard to tell sin from good, and the lines of morality are blurred, it is a leader’s responsibility to set a course that will most benefit his followers. And this day, the course has us ally with the Ghostbloods. You may tell their leader that TUBA stands against the Dark Alley, and for as long as our goals are the same, we will stand with whatever allies are necessary. Including the cowardly assassins. I'd rather side with them than have the Dark Alley tear us apart.”
