It is a large building with a few windows near the top. It does not have the appearance of a house, but you cannot discern the purpose of it from the outside.

Rebus followed as well, on his guard but fairly certain this person would rather take advantage of them or simply get them to go away than to truly attack them.

She led them through the market and down a street towards another large structure with more sleek architecture. It looked like a palace. 

Symbol stumbled when she saw it. The image flashed through her mind--- a woman with long, wavy black hair and jade green eyes, standing at the top of the palace. Fear, screams, pleas... dust. 

She'd turned them into dust.

Rebus, lacking Thread Perception, had no way to know what was nothing Symbol. He did feel he should recognize the building, but was cut off from the Thread, his Author, and his electronic memory archives. 

What was left of him that still possessed that capability saw nothing wrong with Symbol’s actions, and knew the pain was necessary.

Eepy squeaked and grabbed the back of his collar in her teeth, flapping as hard as she could to keep him up.

Rebus felt helpless. His powers, he did not miss. But the knowledge he should have had stung. Symbol was in pain, and he didn't know what had happened, what memory she was witnessing, so he couldn't help.

Jack was a little confused. (He was also a steampunk automaton in a suit jacket, but that was unrelated) “I’m Jack…” 

Heir (aka @Dragonheir), on the other hand, was gone now. That didn’t mean he couldn’t talk, though. I’m the Author of a number of people. Kion, Rebus, Meat, and Jack are the ones I think you’ve met. I’m not actually sure what prize I could give you that you couldn’t duplicate on your own…

Being unwanted... hurt. It was secondary to her other emotional concerns, but... still there. "Yes. We're leaving."

He can see in the infrared spectrum from one eye, seeing heat signatures.

Rebus stepped closer to Symbol, trying to project support. What is your condition? I might stay this way, get you or her to put my mindset closer to Tam’s.
