“I just got a little shook up in there. That’s all.”

"Good, good."

He yawned.

"Well . . . I'm going to go sleep, now. G'night."

He climbed up into a tree and started to drift off.

h

She settled on the ground by the fire.

h indeed

"Yup. Just like the squirrels," he chuckled.

He did his best to ignore it.

-

She nodded.

"It's my favorite, actually," she said quietly.

-

She squeezed him tighter.

Alright. What do you need, right now?

-

Scudding human, the mouse thought.

No he has brown hair sorry :P

"No problem."

Lillian put her hands over her eyes. "Oh, I am so sorry. That was incredibly rude of me."

2 hours ago, Bird Furious said:

"No. You're ugly." She kept walking.

She had platinum blonde hair that swept down past her back, a bronze tan, and very, very light blue eyes.

"No!"

She frantically looked around for a way out. Maybe she had to break something?

He shrugged. "Probably a lot like you."

It got quieter.

-

He smiled.

"I know. I remember. And you hate [beverage she hates]."

-

I dunno. He hugged her tighter and a nice blanket of sand settled over them. That felt nice. Now he felt hidden.

Thanks anyway.

-

The mouse survived.

She's still in her trial :(

He put down the mirror shard. "Me? Ugly? You must be joking."

He's really tall and slender with a chiseled jawline and striking green eyes with dark lashes. His hair is a dark brown, and it falls to about his shoulders. He does have some muscle, but it's more of a toned lean slimmer muscle versus thick bulging muscles.

Scud. Wrong choice.

She paled.

Only because you were trying to kill us!

I was? Well . . . sorry? he offered quickly.

1 hour ago, Bird Furious said:

"Me neither. For obvious reasons." He sat down and sipped the tea. "It needs chocolate. Mint should always have chocolate."

-

Maybe. If... if they're... okay.

He hugged her tighter.

"...dang. I escaped with my sister."

She happened to be 17.

She tilted her head, curious as to how a tree managed to grow on a bridge like this. She supposed the humidity had something to do with it.

"I'm here to... to.... tour. I'm a tourist," she lied.

It's a dead city. Very large, very depressing, very dead.

what mirrors are there again 😅

Symbol laughed, determined not to let the pang of fear get the better of her. You're really quite fascinating.

ofc :P

"Touring? Really? Haven't seen one of those in a while."

Uh… false happiness, encroaching darkness, liquid rock covering her, face goes blank then hit by Ennulling bolt, reality warping, actively fighting then blindingly white light, ink bird absorbs her tattoos, and disintegrating.
You’re completely safe - it’s almost impossible to kill people here unless I allow it. Even a Morditite blade would be temporarily stopped by the utility fog. They continued to zipline at alarming speeds.

Rose shivered, then tried to decide which of the mirrors was... not like that one. The seventh caught her eye, and she rubbed her arms, feeling a shiver up her spine. At least it wasn't dying, though... She stepped that way.

I'm not afraid of that. I'm merely afraid you'll kill me, she informed him.

-

Alright. Do you want to go now?

-

His eyes widened, and he looked back at Corysande.

"What? What curse!?"

Ehe :D

"You're welcome," he said, happy to have pleased her.

-

...yeah. That sounds nice. He squeezed her one more time.

-

"No, no, not that curse," Orchid said, but it was too late. Holt had fallen asleep.

"You live here?" She gestured around at the huge, long bridge and the tiered city hugging the mountaintop on either side of the falls.

She glared and him.

It's fine. Whatever. You don't even remember it, apparently.

Then she left with Bat.

Utility appeared in her place.

"Hello."

She nodded and ate some of the ham and eggs.

"So . . . where'd everybody else go?"

-

Alright.

She planted a small kiss on his cheek, then took them there.

They appeared on a small, snowy mountaintop. A large, nice cabin stood in front of them.

She dried them off as well.

Whenever you're ready, she said, giving him a hug.

-

Oh well :)

The other mirrors were too occupied with their various nightmares to speak to her while she did so. They all had similar expressions of fear and dread as the situations looped over and power. The peaceful/mind controlled reflection, in contrast, was trying to make an angry face, but couldn’t figure out how.
Why would I do that? You’re the only person who understands me that I still trust, and one of the only people who will help me with things out of expected reciprocity rather than direct bribery, threats, or manipulation. And regardless, there are far easier and more beneficial ways to kill you here - I can override any of the utility fog.
The zipline pressure increased suddenly as it seemingly became a jump, sending them upwards into the air at a fairly impressive velocity. Maybe I should make my foreshadowing a bit more subtle than simply telling people my priorities and capabilities.

He hugged her tightly, then took a deep breath and grabbed her hand. "I'm ready."

*has to go back and look at the family's names*

Might not respond to Bat's for a bit :P

HAHAHA THAT's SO FUNNY and I don't know why but it very funny

She shivered again, then reached out to touch the ink bird mirror. btw is that a Map to Everywhere reference?

Oh, no, Symbol assured him. I wasn't saying I believed you would. Merely that it was a fear of mine.

It made me chuckle too, that’s why I included it.
It is not, though I do recall reading those at some point. It is a reference to an incident from earlier in the Thread (though that bird may have been in pencil, actually).
Reality shifted, and she was standing across from Tam. Tam wasn’t standing, though, she was hovering in the air, eyes aglow with power and wrath.

Being afraid of me is probably warranted. I confront such things by making it difficult to kill me permanently. And fear of my specifically I counter by clone management, though having a few divergent copies available means the idea of me can survive even if someone systematically hunts down every clone that is fully me.
The pair reached the apex of their arc just as they cleared the lip of a walking bridge, resulting in a drop of a few inches onto the bridge. Rebus began walking immediately, as if that had been what they were doing the whole time, and they had simply stopped briefly to rest.

Hmm who was involved in that?

Rose sucked in a breath and stumbled back. Aw frik...

She followed, somewhat reassured. That makes sense. I suppose I should make myself less vulnerable somehow... but I don't quite feel any danger yet. I do need a plotline, though. She tilted her head at him, raising an eyebrow just a bit. If only you had substance backstory trauma.
