. . . Huh.

"Well- okay. Thanks. Are you feeling okay?"

"I think so. Kinda weird...? Like... like it's hard to keep my eyes open. Like when you gave me that flower."

. . . Rebus needs to prove himself a better villain than Malevolence, otherwise Malevolence will gain the Antagonist Plotblade and lay waste to the entire Thread . . .

He sighed.

“Tam, there are SO many things wrong with that I don’t even know where to START.”

"That sounds right. I'd like to lay down somewhere, I think."

"Yeah, generally that's- um, yeah. Let's find you somewhere to sleep . . ."

"Okay." She seemed content to do so. It was getting dark, after all, and fighting that panther had been far more draining than she'd thought it would be. "How about in one of these trees?"

He'd been thinking the same thing.

For himself, at least.

"You sure? Might be more comfortable for you if you slept on the ground."

"I could make a hammock thing," she said. "I... I'd feel safer up there."

True . . .

"If- if you're sure. I wouldn't want you to fall and get hurt or anything . . ."

She blushed. "I-I think I'll be okay."

". . . Alright then."

He picked a random tree with wide branches and clambered up into it, then offered her a hand up.

She took his hand and hauled herself into the tree as well, then used her magic to make a wide, comfy, bouncy hammock thing. "Do you want one too? It's really cozy."

She was softly snoring in a matter of moments.

Wow . . . that was fast.

Holt climbed into the upper branches of the tree and sat, then spent most of the night watching for any more panthers that might come around.

He'd slept earlier, anyway.

None did.

Except a little baby panther on the ground, pawing and sniffing around the tree where Holt had trapped the older one. It yowled helplessly.

Utility chuckled.

"You might want to."

Rebus didn’t actually care too much, but it’d probably be worth it at least to try.
@Halcyon The OnlyRebus in the caverns hovered in the air using utility fog, teleporting away the rock separating him from those trapped in the lower caverns.

…wut

The mirror is a mirror, weird as it is. The reflection of her thus said shut up while she was.
The reflection of her in the first mirror (which is now behind her, since she turned around) is not visible in the second mirror.

Holt sighed and left it there for the time being.

The baby panther mewled and cried some more, but it eventually settled among the roots of the tree, having pawed out a little dip in the dirt to lay in.
