"Besides the rat?" he chuckled.

She smiled and stroked Enrik. "You ever tried talking to a rat?"

"Not really, no."

"They're cute, but they're not exactly great conversation partners," she said, stopping in front of a door. "This is it."

Just now, Through The Living Glass said:

"Is it locked?"

"No." She stared at the door for a long minute, before grabbing the handle.

CRASH!

She pulled the door open. The office was a mess--papers strewn about, picture frames hanging from a single corner, and a massive bookshelf, toppled to the ground, lying directly in their path.

Lillian didn't respond. "Enrik, look around." The rat plopped off her shoulder and gave @Halcyon The Only's character a final glare.

"I hope so," he whispered

Aden pulled up to a hangar and airstrip.

She shrugged and glanced down at her feet.

Well I kinda want to go and check to see if everyone back in town is okay . . . if that's alright.

-

It didn't really do much, and the spider lunged for her.

@Dragonheir

“Of course.”

-

She ducked and ran for the doors.

Jay released a breath, then started laughing as well. This was nice.

Enrik mimed dying, then looked pointedly at her.

"Just... be careful. Either way."

The wind was kind of cold, though.

She snorted.

Well, the important bit is that she's clearly afraid of Narrators, and given that you exemplify some of the most terrifying aspects of Narrators, I surmised that you would be an excellent choice for her trial-giver.

“Are you saying you’d consider violence to achieve your ends?”

She found this rather funny, really.

oop-

Indeed, the spider-creature made for the power plant immediately.

-

Maybe . . . but I still shouldn't have ignored you like that.

"Alright."

There was a shift in the air around her.

"Let's go, then."

He shrugged.

"I can't help but wonder if there's something else I could have done for them."

Heheh.

The voice chose to ignore her, for now.

“That makes sense.”

He jumped out of the jeep. "Aden, could you wake Irie? Or carry her? I don't have a preference. I need her on the plane."

"Huh. Anyway, is the badge in a box? Hidden compartment? What?"

He started covertly searching the room.

Not that she could tell, anyway.

"I don't know," she replied. "This room is as far as I know."

hmhmhmhm ok so the badge is hidden inside a cut-out book

but i don't want him to find it right away

bc some stuff needs to happen first

It's okay. Jay was like Elsa, and the cold didn't bother him anyway.

-

Enrik scuttled around the room, sniffing.

The scientist scrambled for her own weapon and shot at the spider.

“That’s my job! Purple-E blue-E green-E yellow-E orange-E?”

It chased after and caught her easily.

@Dragonheir

HEIRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

My apologies - I was doing homework.
Rebus’s hands shook as he pointed the weapon - now the right way around, and connected to the trolley by a tether - at the spider monster. “If you can understand me, don’t hurt her! She’s the only thing stopping me from blasting you through several walls.”

👍 Got it

A couple pencils were knocked off the desk.

"Oop- that was just me, sorry."

"You can touch things?" She asked, straightening one of the pictures on the wall. It was a Bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition.
