Kion shivers just from imagining it. But staying safe from relentless, unstoppable creatures? That was something he knew how to do. “That must have been terrible. You may not believe me, but I can relate. We’ll find you more supplies, and either shore up this cave or help you get somewhere safer. I hear there are resistance organizations.”

Rebus sends a letter back, as such a communication method is indistinguishable from dialogue, at least to a Narrator. Thank you for the information. I’ll avoid the Witherlord, and though perhaps not other evil Narrators. The head demon of the Maelstrom actually contacted me, but I annoyed it away accidentally. It withdrew, I think, because even token assistance from an Author’s characters can open up their other characters to harm, due to buy-in. Unless of course it is my Author, who’ll apparently let anyone with a plausible explanation kill me, or perhaps someone particularly God-mod inclined, who may no-sell everything I do.

As the battle continues, the Emperor’s forces begin pushing back the forces of chaos. Soon the Beast is among the last standing. Oddly, despite the terrible odds against him, he laughs. “You have lost, little Emperor.“

“Indeed!” Subversion smiles broadly. “Don’t worry, I’m safe. What are you here for?”

“Very well. I shall finalize the preparations for the trial. We can set the date to… later today, perhaps? We’ll have to see how the ABF affects things.”

Tenth hesitated.  Knowing this… thing… is inside of me… albeit contained… I… it makes me sick. Not revolted, just… I don’t know.

Soory, I have exams about now, so haven’t been active much at all.

"This has an electrolaser - basically a lightning beam, a flamethrower - using star plasma, and a force field generator - for structural integrity, repulsion blasts, attack countering, not burning your face off when you shoot plasma, and probably some other things you can think of. It's also collapsible, and if tampered with or removed from your person, it will explode in a burst of lightning, plasma, and force fields. I'd maybe not drop it, as at full power, such a thing could level a city block." He has, of course, put his own secret safeguards on it; he isn't that irresponsible.

As Tam Narrates just that, Rebus manages to duplicate it. "I am ready."

She guided him on how to put it on. "So just put the wetsuit on over your clothes- yep! Now the pack goes on- there you go. Now the mask too . . . mhm. I'll just attach this . . ." she strung some small, clear tubes from the pack to the side of the mask so he could breathe. "Aaaand all set!"

Yeah, Template. My hands were typing faster than my brain.
