Ryna backed to the back of the ship. She wasn't able t fight. She couldn't. Her vows.

Ryna went very still and slipped down to the deck.

Her left eye flared gold for half a heartbeat, then dimmed.

"…No," she whispered.

Her fingers tightened in the fabric of her greatcoat, her knuckles paling as a bright, luminous Thread pulled taut and snapped.

Ryna inhaled sharply, like the breath had been knocked out of her.

For a moment, she didn't move. Didn't speak. She just knelt on the deck there, staring at nothing, as if listening to a sound no one else can hear.

When she finally spoke, her voice was small and unsteady.

"…a small light... no..."

She started to cry.

Cep was occupied, and Asharak spared barely a moment of thought for just one more speck in a constellation of spirits.

Only Dark Cep saw the closer picture. He bowed his head, and let a single tear fall into the Mindscape, where it swirled amongst the smoke.

He held back the rest of his emotion, unwilling to let the chains slip. Yet inside, he wept for the loss of something so innocent. He wept for Atlas, for a young Cep, for so many innocents lost. He remained with head bowed as the visions continued to play around him.

"Yes, I was." She said in a subdued tone. "Too late to save her. I should've come earlier, but I thought Rebus could handle you." She raised her Narrationblade, glaring at Fog through tears. "I am not, however, too late to avenge Atlas."

Subversion stepped forward and swung her Narrationblade at Fog's foggy face.

Ryna folded in on herself, shoulders shaking beneath her coat. One hand came up, pressing hard over her glowing eye as if she could push the sight away, but the afterimage of that severed Thread still burned behind her eyelids. Her Chronicle stirred faintly in her satchel, pages whispering without turning. She bowed her head, breath hitching. “…You were too bright... too bright for this world,” she murmured, barely audible.

aww subversion . . .

She cackled and dispersed, swarming around Subversion in a violent cloud that threatened to rip her apart.

"You've always been so weak," she giggled.

"What did you think you could possibly do for Atlas, huh? What might you have been able to do? Summon another vacuum cleaner? As if that would have helped."

Another vacuum cleaner popped into existence. Smaller than the last one, it nonetheless began sucking the cloud away from Subversion.

"Perhaps it could have, had I arrived in time." Subversion opened eyes now glowing with iridescent light. "And if you think me weak, then I'm afraid this battle will be a bit of a shock for you, child."

Lyric broke off his song entirely. That did not sound good. He turned to his companions. “Have any of you heard of the ‘Shadows of Law’?”

The Witherlord observed the planet he’d emerged above. Oceans of glowing liquid were on its surface, and he could sense only three living beings on its face. Although of the three, only two had true life. The other was a mere shell, abandoned by her author, nothing more than a shadowed hope of eventual return.

The rifts the Witherlord had cut all around the solar system begs to expand. Those on the planet below would see a darkness pass over the sky, stars winking out one by one as the Void surrounded the planet. In moments, it was done. This solar system was now cut off from the rest of reality, impassible to traditional teleportation.

The Witherlord smiled, and descended towards the planet below.

This Rebus is supposed to have a conscience. He thought idly. I wonder how he’ll respond to the knowledge of what his other self has done?

The letter read:

To my good friend, *name redacted*

I write this letter to explain my actions, which in no small part have contributed to Malevolence’s ascension to the Mantle.

When Malevolence came to me and asked me to make for him a Blade, I realized three things.

First, the Witherlord’s return was inevitable. The secret of the Lost pages was out, and whether it was Malevolence, Rebus, or some third party, the forces of evil would not stop until the Witherlord had been truly returned.

Second, I realized there were no weapons capable of defeating the Witherlord. For a time I had thought the converter would suffice, but it is too weak a hope. Even if one could gather and convert enough Prismite to forge a blade or some other tool, it would not assure victory. such a Blade would threaten the Witherlord, but defeat him? He has slain the Luxsprites and corrupted their greatest members. It is no sure thing.

Last, I realized that I had an opportunity to forge a Blade that could kill the Witherlord. A blade he could not corrupt, for it is forged of his own essence. A blade he could not destroy or control, for it is linked to his own soul.

The blade of which I speak is Malevolence. The blade I made for him. Old friend, if Malevolence can be taken from the Witherlord, it can be used to destroy him. He cannot manipulate it, for to do so would be to tear apart his own soul. Neither can he dismiss the Blade, to keep it safe from all who would steal it. Old friend, I hope that you will put this knowledge to good use. And I hope you will forgive me, for the destruction and sorrow Malevolence has and will cause.

Sincerely,

*name redacted*

It could work, or BftS could just be an eccentric corner of TLT where the Plotblade of Macguffin runs rampant, or it could be similar enough that that Enullers let Narrators through, or whatever explanation you want.

Subversion appeared in the nick of time, deflecting the Dragon with her slender Narrationblade. She wore a blue dress with gold trim along the sleeves and bodice, her black hair was tied in a braid,  and her silver-grey eyes gleamed with determination.

”I was going to wait for a more dramatic moment to reveal my decision, but I realized that that was stupid. And anyways, I can’t just let you murder a child.”

With a flick of her fingers, Subversion summoned up a giant vacuum cleaner which began sucking up all the dark smoke surrounding Atlas.

@Keke @DragonHeir

Jack blinked at him. "Who are you again?"

-

Rebus swore. Repeatedly.

The planet had been nearly impossible to reach even before the Witherlord established the blockade - all he could do now was wait, and hope his other self was clever enough to somehow prevail.

The other Rebus sat besides Symbol - Keys was further from them - their rock floating above a shimmering ocean. He looked up at the sky, and swore. Repeatedly.

-

That was a clever plan - and a potent asset for Rebus's own planning.

-

The third explanation, I feel, makes the most sense.

-

Rebus gave a grateful nod. And then he turned, and he saw Atlas.

Okay so in order to set the scene there is some background to this world of mine. Originally it .. *facepalm* was a Star Wars au…. I made it so the main story took place in the universe, i mean the idea was theres so many planets so i made this one to tag along. Krys was a darksider, and the rest of the crew was totally not inspired by the bad batch. In my defense i started watchng Star Wars when i was like …7 or 6 and created this when i was nine so bear with me. If you look to closely you might see crossovers. Bonus points if you tell which character was inspired or based on who.

-

I see we have come to a cross road with our definitions, so we will pretend our defs were the same.

She nodded.

-

jack ducked and attacked his waist.

-

she closed her eyes and tried the move again.

Rebyl looked up (pretend they were outside again okey) seeing the eyes made her shrink a bit before shaking her head.

elinore jumped down and threw an energy rifle to rebyl who fumbled and caught it. She propped it on her shoulder.

Elinore stopped by rebus. “This is your place, you give the commands. Tell us what to do.”

@xinoehp512

"There's nothing inherently wrong with that. This is a world that started as fanfiction."
-

Rebus sighed again. "I'm sorry for some of the things I've done, but others I feel were justified."

-

More Mordite carapace sprung out to block the attack, and Ameobus gave an oddly feral screech.

-

It likely would have worked. That would have been the next lesson - the difference between an attempt and an action.

-

Rebus nodded. "Light. All Withergeists are effected by it, to varying degrees, and I can't imagine that large eyeballs do well with bright lights either."

2 hours ago, Kansas Stormcursed said:

Cep watched him guardedly. "So I've heard. It seems you're not the main enemy anymore. Enemy of my enemy type situation. You still killed Cricket though. And was Symbol's death also your fault?"

Would that relate to Rebus?

-

Rebus shook his head. "I did not kill Cricket, nor was I responsible for Symbol dying."

for fear, subversion was to late.

atlas lay on the ground, her body limp as the mist went into subversions vacuum. Her eyes were a faded red and a small smile twitched on her lips…. Atlas.. she always loved smiling. Through her cartoons, after she ran away, a grin plastered her face through the darkest of times. It’s only fitting she smiled as she met peace.

She wasnt angry at death, she was thankful that she would be able to meet her friends again, maybe she would go to elysium with cricket… or perhaps heaven with the scribe or seraphina.

Regardless of where she went she wanted people to be able to be happy, if her death meant anything if her life meant anything, it was joy. Joy in the small times, joy in the idle conversations between posts, or the thrill she learned from fighting.

She wanted to teach people that joy was one of the things you should cherish most, even if she had to teach herself this. It’s not forever, it cant be. For you cant exist forever. It’s the memories you make and the feelings you feel, good bad or ugly they stay with you more than a person.

So she told all this to the thread.

To everyone,

to the authors and characters alike,

any non narrators would feel this sense for an unknown reason, while narrators could read this.

A final message as a small light in a multiverse blinked out.

The breath went out of Rebus's lungs. Atlas was dead. Just like that.

"Oh?" His voice was venom that had frozen into the shape of mirth. "Handle Fog?" Rebus balled up his coat and tossed it to the side. He summoned his Narrationblade, holding it in his left hand - for his right was alight with magic and rage, wrapped in every power he had. Only his eyes were the same - there was no other sign of his true anger as he strode calmly through the violet churn of mist. "That is not the only thing I will do."

They wound around her in an instant, pinning her arms, and subsequently her Blade, to her sides.

Jack blinked, which was a strange thing for him to be doing. He seemed almost like the man had been - and indeed, he held the coin that had been dropped.

-

As the Witherlord stepped Dynessence surged towards him, attracted by the powerful magic - and then blackened, its unstable state corrupted from Chaotic Light to Darkness.

Rebus, finding none of those options especially appealing, decided to stall. "The Witherlord, come to kill me personally? I seem to have missed a lot."

A cracking, shattering aurora that breaks and reforms constantly flickers to life above their heads, signalling the arrival of an Author. The Aurora-Author observes the fight.

Rebus - his clone, powerless and regretful - looked up at the Author.

hawks went quiet as a person approached. He was bald, probably 5 foot 7 and wearing a mostly white jacket with blue stripes *ill send a picture of the cosplay i have later this week* his eyes were a light blue and he was fairly well built. The most disturbing thing was the scar, more like chunk of his face missing, where his right eye would be was instead a little light that moved when he looked rebus up and down. "Who are you?" He asked roughly.

-

She hummed. "Its a very you thing to say." She said with a bit of amusement.

-

He cursed. "What is this?!?"

-

WOULD HAVE 😭😭😭😭😭😭

-

Rebyl hearing this smirked. "Ooh I have an idea!" She said and jumped a bit. She held a hand out and closed her eyes, she imagined the giant light used in her father's lab, it was insanely strong, using the Lightmatter as its source it could light up an entire partical accelerator or anything with just one.

-

Allen, fog is so freaked.

Im sorry im so sorry dont be mad at me 😭

a teenager, probably 15 years old appeared she had this fit and this hair

she also carried a dagger at her side. She scrunched her nose and warped to rebus in a flash of pink. "Hello rebus!" Salt said! Though she wished she had salt cause she liked salt. Sadly brother always said if she ate to much she'd have a heart attack.

Yes

"Dr. Clarke." Rebus said.

-

Rebus grinned. "Of course."

-

Ameobus cackled. "Your father has a good grasp of Mordite. The Witherlord, though?" He uppercut Jack, a Mordite blade stabbing out of his hand. "He is Mordite. And now so am I."

-

What Rebus is doing would have been the lesson he taught.

-

Rebus put his hand on her shoulder, and her capacity increased a hundredfold - his Narration powering her abilities.

-

You're probably third on the murderous rampage list.

-

Rebus was so baffled that he briefly snapped out of his murderous rage. "Did you eat a rabbit too?"

Daaang

Fog smirked. Well, she smirked as much as she could, given her current form.

"How noble of you."

Thaaanks. Unfortunately, my timing is terrible and I must now go to bed.

"Perhaps Subversion will do my job for me." Rebus took a deep breath, and Fog's entire Ennulling field sucked towards him, shutting down not only his powers but the passage of time itself. "Then I can move on to the one responsible for you." And then he was frozen, and Subversion almost unrestrained - till Rebus returned, at least.

Kai nodded "im Kai. what are you doing here? I thought you were with kyler?"

-

"we need to find a way to get Darkmatter."

-

He flapped his wings once and shot backwards. He threw a dagger with full force and decoration at his face while drscreetly throwung one at his stomach.

-

-

that being said elinore hid her face as did everyone else as a huge light, probably brighter then five Heavy Multi suns combined then shot forward. @xinoehp512 and jm pretty sure @NameIess

Comforting 😭😭

awwww man

Sleep well!! :D

This was fun :3 thanks

Ttyl!

She glared at him.

"Cheater," she mumbled, summoning a tiny machine. One of Malevolence's own, actually- or modeled off it, at least.

She turned it on, and the small Nullite core broadcast a Nullifying field fully over the small enclosure area. There.

She turned to Subversion again.

"Sorry about that. Continue."

The aurora crackled more fiercely and pulsated towards Fog. The part closest to Fog turned a venemous red. The aurora faded away, but at the last second, a massive voice rumbled, "Good men don't need to become legends. They just do what's right anyway."

Fog thought Authors were supposed to stay out of conflicts like this.

Hmph. Figures.

At least he hadn't actually done anything.

Fair enough tho

She growled angrily and focused the majority of her Nullification on Subversion this time. She burst the dehumidifiers apart and used them as projectiles to throw at Subversion, around whom thick chains burst into existence. They wound around her in an instant, pinning her arms, and subsequently her Blade, to her sides.

"Can't blame you, I suppose," she muttered thoughtfully.

"Why . . . did you come here, anyway? I'm curious to learn what conclusion you finally came to about your little two-thousand-page-long existential crisis, don't get me wrong, but . . . surely you have better things to do."

Subversion struggled against her chains, but couldn't quite manage to maneuver her Blade to cut through them. She managed to duck and dodge the dehumidifier parts, as her legs were still free, though she did look a bit ridiculous doing so.

"I came because you were murdering an innocent child." Subversion said. "I decided, at the conclusion of my... more like one and a half thousand page existential crisis, that I want to care. And since I now care that you're an awful, despicable person, I decided to do something about it."

Subversion grinned, and the chains binding her transformed into hummingbirds. She then transformed into a hummingbird herself, flying zigzag through Fog's essence, Narrationblade formed into a blade on her beak to stab annoyingly at the withergeist's essence. The other hummingbirds aided her, pecking at Fog with beaks made from solid light.

"A fight without powers, eh? A field like this does not discriminate, last I checked." She held her Narrationblade out before her. "Sure, why not? I'm sure I can survive for the time it takes me to burn through the Nullite in that machine."

The Witherlord chuckled. "Not you." He gestured past Rebus to Symbol. "Her. And you should know why I have come. Long ago, you made a deal with Fate." He drew Malevolence, darkness spreading through the Dynessence ocean towards the rock upon which Rebus and the others stood. "You should have known that such deals never end well. I bring you the fruit of your own actions."

It could work, or BftS could just be an eccentric corner of TLT where the Plotblade of Macguffin runs rampant, or it could be similar enough that that Enullers let Narrators through, or whatever explanation you want.

Alright.

Plotblade of Macguffin?

I think so. Rebus could send a powerless clone, and then “there is no spoon” his way back to being a Narrator.

Corvus nodded slowly. "Do you have to plan, once you gather enough Narrators?"

She tucked away a smaller device. Another Nullifying field to cancel out the larger one for only her. Plus, this way, she could keep the larger one renewed . . .

"Fair? Why would I ever be fair?" she chuckled, summoning a second Mordite blade in her hands.
