Ryver. He's at the party, and just got a necklace that lets him travel between worlds in the Thread. He's the one with a type of conjuring ability.

OHH yes yes, I remember now...

Ryver, wherever he was, was approached by a figure. Relatively unassuming, dressed in a flowing cloak with short golden hair. They smiled and offered their hand in greeting. "Hello, Ryver. That is your name, isn't it?"

The figure bowed respectfully. "I am Able. And I suppose I am just a good listener." They stood up and dusted off their cloak. "I would like to present you with an offer! Your skills are... Of interest. Please, when you are finished here at this party, find me. I will be here, and I will take you elsewhere, where we can discuss."

Sequence—or, one of her apparitions—was seated in a rocking chair, staring off into space somewhat blankly. She seemed to snap back to awareness as Ryver approached, blinking a few times before smiling. "Hello, Ryver!"

“I was planning to offer a truce and just kill him if he declined - perhaps you should confine the other as I do that.” Rebus swept his hands outwards, and time seemed to crack, like a broken mirror full of overlapping reflections. Rebus wasn’t in two places at once, but he was doing two things at once - and the other generals seemed blurry, out of reach, moving fast and then slow again. “As for your other question, it depends upon the capacity. I don’t know of any Trisolarans written by other Authors, so you speaking with them will not necessarily extend your presence. The general first needed to know terms for surrender. If they were unfair he may as well go down fighting. If there was a good reason to accept, he may as well survive and do the same some later day in a fight he could win.

Cricket hesitated, but nodded. It was time to die. But if he died, Rebus was coming with him.

Rebus smiled, though it was more kind - almost pitying - than the smirk from before. “With the modified stakes I proposed, we need a condition for victory. This can remain a duel to the death - I’ll simply bring you back to life if I win. We’ll want a neutral location - preferably one sponsored by the Ennullers to prevent any cheating by either of us. Magic and advanced technology are cheating, of course, but should we allow mundane weapons? I know you’re practiced with throwing knives - I’ll allow you to choose whether or not we get to use them.” Rebus paused. “Oh, and since you accepted the terms, as soon as you arrive at the duel Rose’s laser will have its self-destruct disabled.”

erryin froze mid step at his words. “Eh…”

oooh ooooooooho ok ok.

Rebus smiled at              , sensing a kindred spirit. “I suspect on some level, yes - doublethink is common in the Thread Perceptive - and even Cep is working for me is some capacity.”

The pair of adventurers passed through the doorway and ended up at the beginning of a massive multistory walkway populated by inactive escalators, empty kiosks, and boarded up shops. It was rather dark. There was a large skylight running the length of the hallway, but someone had painted over it for some reason or other. In fact, considering the amount of times the words "Run now before it's too late!", "The gift is a lie!", "No fear, no life!" and other similarly gloomy and terrifying messages had been graffitied on the walls, there had been a lot of painters in here at some point (they all seemed to favor the same reddish-brown paint color, too).

Lyric was unaffected by all of these obvious red flags. He took in the sight with an awed expression. "Wow! This place is very different from the forest!" He squinted, trying to look further down the walkway. "Say, I don't think I asked this, but do you have a soul? Being a mechanical man, and all."

It was lucky for Rebus that he hadn't made that wager, for the battery entered the vault in an unembezzled and timely manner, after which the drone installed it in a new security module Malevolence was in the process of constructing. It wouldn't do for Malevolence to be caught lying to his temporary allies, after all. Besides, where else would an Ennulling battery be put to better use than in the vault built to contain the most dangerous secret in the entirety of TLT?

Jack shivered - he didn’t have much experience with blood, but he’d heard it was around that color. “Apparently I do have a soul. We should talk about that later - different from the forest is not necessarily a good thing. Do you know what blood looks like?”

The vault wouldn’t be particularly contained, Heir suspected. Half of the people who’d built it were compromised, even without the fact that Bacon had been carrying around one of Rebus teleporters (which luckily seemed unable to connect to Rebus’s network). Rebus suddenly grinned, a number of additional strategies coming to mind. Malevolence’s evilophone rang, Rebus’s broad smile visible on its screen.

For fun (as he said previously), because               might be of use to him, and because it’s a reason to continue being onscreen.

I’m going to assume the Ennullers would be willing to ref Rebus and Cricket’s duel  - @NameIess @xinoehp512, any objections?

Able shrugged. “No idea.” Before Ryver had a chance to object, Able flipped a coin. It hit the ground, and with a rather loud screeching sound, a rift opened beneath their feet, and both Able and Ryver suddenly found themselves standing in a forest.

It was rather dark, the trees blocking most of the meager sunlight. There was a wide dirt path snaking through the trees. And there was another figure down the path. They walked closer. They wore a sharp black suit, with short, spiky black hair and bone-white skin. They smiled, revealing sharp, animal-like teeth. “Welcome, Ryver. I hope the journey wasn’t too alarming?”

Moni gave Sequence a thumbs up, causing Unintelligible to frown in her direction. "...Yeah, it speaks. Um, what was that look you gave Moni abo-" He was cut off as a voice forced its way into Sequence's mind.

"We will eat you, Dark-tinged-Light. We will feast on your fading Light, and it will be Darkness."

The caged Witherabbit accompanied these words with an attempt at a chillingly low growl that was still a little cute, despite its best efforts.
