“You could, yes. Of course, I wouldn’t be dead and you’d get kicked out of the party, so it would be rather pyrrhic.”

Rebus nodded approvingly, though the actual benefit of Atreides’s actions was questionable, since they had been offscreen. “Well done. Did you ever receive the army I gathered for you to command?”

Cricket cursed. "What do I do then?" he muttered to himself.

“What do you do? You give up, and I win, or you keep fighting even though everything you do drags you deeper, and I win. Since you are not the type to give up, it seems…” Rebus smiled, Antagonist’s glow seeming to echo his arrogant confidence. “Shall we set the terms of our duel?”

I have been wanting to get back into TLT, but i dont want to be dependent on another big character for my plotline to continue (but i guess I am also not on the shard too.... *deep thoughts*)

“At the moment, dealing with the golden general would be beneficial. As for the long term, should you wish to remain as alive as we can be, I would recommend spurring activity. Anything that involves other people will likely involve more than one Author, and anything that involves more than one Author will generally remain onscreen.”

"Dealing with how? And do Trisolarans count as people?"

“Your death would not deny me much, but if you wish to surrender I will spare you.” Rebus said, Antagonist materializing in his hand.

The general first needed to know terms for surrender. If they were unfair he may as well go down fighting. If there was a good reason to accept, he may as well survive and do the same some later day in a fight he could win.

Alright guys you convinced me

Cricket hesitated, but nodded. It was time to die. But if he died, Rebus was coming with him.

Ixa tugged at one of the vines growing nearby. At the slight rockslide that followed, they quickly changed their mind. Unstable.

The air was eerily still, like dust that had been settled for decades - it only needed a little movement to start a storm. The only sign of movement other than the pair was the river, and that ... well, reportedly that wasn't safe either.

"So, what's the story with you and the river?" Ixa said as they prodded at some of the rubble.

She chuckled. “Well i was minding my own business and then this random girl appeared, she said something about a quest i had to go on? And my friend came with me. We jumped in the river cause it was like a portal and then i appeared here without any of the others.” She looked around and found a decent sized tree. “We can make a lil tent here.”

Rebus cocked his head. “Rebel is dead. I killed him a long time ago. But I know you care about her - if you accept my modification of our stakes, I shall disable the remote detonator.”

Rebus nodded, striding towards           with the expectation that Erryin would follow.
-

He’s been wearing futuristic armor with similar aesthetics to his previous clothing - white, black, and grey armor plates; glowing lines, purple rather than orange, outlining things; and a cape, more elaborate than usual for the party, which parallels the coat in his old outfits. Antagonist, taking the form of a crown (or a halberd if he needs it to fight), is the other development - it has pretty much the appearance its vibes would suggest, with sharp points and a dark glow.
-

The pineapple did not do anything more, merely sliding off the sword and falling to the ground. Pretty much what I expected - I’ll pass off further torment to Wrath.

“Haly - Bird Furious, more recently - has been mostly absent as of late, so it shall be some time before she could be found.”

Individual nanomachines within the green air sickened, the contagion adapting and spreading outwards. They began to fry, at first, erupting with antimatter that would kill even a sickness this strange. Perhaps even that would be adapted to, in time, but as it was, the sickness began to stop short, interfering with the nanomachines but not killing them completely. And Rebus laughed as though something hilarious had been said, laughing and coughing - something he was supposed to not need to do - and laughing again. “You don’t understand, do you? You’ve given me a nearly perfect bioweapon with the buy-in to back it up, then added in an excuse to not kill people instantly and two different plot hooks to boot.”

Here, yes, there was no danger. Physical danger, at least - speaking too long with Rebus had effects reaching beyond mere injury.

Rebus grinned, and Antagonist’s dark glow intensified, seemingly in approval of the idea Rebus had just come up with.
“That is not necessarily a good thing,” Jack muttered, but he followed Lyric into the mall.
I only just made the name connection.

Rebus was willing to bet that the battery would never make it to the vault, or at least be embezzled from beforehand. He considered actually doing so, but decided against it - there was nobody he particularly wanted to propose the wager to.

“Ah - I’ve heard of that place, though I have never been. As for me, I shall start from the beginning - I am Dr. Rebus Honesty Clarke, and I am a Narrator. In addition to granting me a variety of powers, this means I know the truth - as far as I can tell - about reality: we’re all made up by a group of people called Authors.” Rebus waited for that to sink it - for the belief or lack thereof in that statement would drastically alter the subsequent direction of the conversation.

erryin quickly followed.

saw them and his deep black forms mouth area seemed to smile. “Oh erryin and rebus. Nice to see you two. Say erryin, does Cep know your actively working along side rebus?”

erryin froze mid step at his words. “Eh…”

"Oh, good idea."

Their hair seemed to dissipate into mist slightly as they trained off.

Via actually did have a tent. “I do, i insisted on being prepared before we left-”  Via frowned as she trailed off. “Are you ok?”

Unintelligible met her eyes and grinned. "Of course." He started to say something, then paused, staring into Sequence's eyes. He coughed, breaking his gaze from hers.  "Um, would you like to come interrogate the witherabbit with me?"

“That is not necessarily a good thing,” Jack muttered, but he followed Lyric into the mall.

The pair of adventurers passed through the doorway and ended up at the beginning of a massive multistory walkway populated by inactive escalators, empty kiosks, and boarded up shops. It was rather dark. There was a large skylight running the length of the hallway, but someone had painted over it for some reason or other. In fact, considering the amount of times the words "Run now before it's too late!", "The gift is a lie!", "No fear, no life!" and other similarly gloomy and terrifying messages had been graffitied on the walls, there had been a lot of painters in here at some point (they all seemed to favor the same reddish-brown paint color, too).

Lyric was unaffected by all of these obvious red flags. He took in the sight with an awed expression. "Wow! This place is very different from the forest!" He squinted, trying to look further down the walkway. "Say, I don't think I asked this, but do you have a soul? Being a mechanical man, and all."

It was lucky for Rebus that he hadn't made that wager, for the battery entered the vault in an unembezzled and timely manner, after which the drone installed it in a new security module Malevolence was in the process of constructing. It wouldn't do for Malevolence to be caught lying to his temporary allies, after all. Besides, where else would an Ennulling battery be put to better use than in the vault built to contain the most dangerous secret in the entirety of TLT?

"Well, mostly random. I believe that they are the representation of me in other's thoughts. Of course, I have the greatest influence over myself, allowing me to do this," Blank Page says while shapeshifting. "And I can also do this," He says, and a few words and letters fly out of his body and form into a sentence floating in midair.

"If I told you that, it would spoil the fun!" Subversion held the necklace out tantalizingly. "All you have to do to operate it is envision the location you want to be at, and it will take you there. That will work across dimensions, but if you want to travel with a group, you tap the gemstone and speak the name of a world and, and it will open a portal. If you ask nicely, I may even throw in an informational pamphlet that will give you a list of somewhat important worlds."
