It didn't move. The dirt around it disappeared, but the shard remained in place, hovering over the empty hole.

Not wanting to hang around, she grabbed the inactive Bat and took them to a snowy valley in a mountain range somewhere.

It looked like Mordite, but... altered. Not every clone had received one. Only the one by the corruptor, and the central, original copy.

That was impossible. The anti-teleportation measures around Rebus's moon were so strong even he could not teleport there, and there was even more security around the core.

The copy by the corrupter picked up the shard with utility fog, wondering what it could actually be.

ah. the old snowy mountain range.

There was a mass grave on this mountain range. She knew that in it were the brave adventurers they had fought a long time ago. The shard was there as she arrived, glistening on top of the grave.

The impossible happened a lot in the realm of TLT.

shush 😂

She shivered -not from the cold- and took them to a random grassy plain.

random grassy plain. You know, those show up a lot. you probably will not get this reference.

For some reason, when she got there, the landscape was incredibly uneven. To her right was a stadium that looked like a coliseum, to her left was a volcano, and in front and behind her the plain stretched on. The gem shined like a spotlight from a tower on the coliseum.

Rebus annihilated the shard that had supposedly entered his sanctum.

The shard didn't change. It felt like there was something laughing at him.

Rebus's plotblade began to glow.

The other copy of Rebus touched the shard, sending out a tiny thread of raw Narration.

what plotblade does he have?

did he send the thread into the shard, or?

Magnificent Bastard. Platypus should perhaps be worried, though it seems he's willing to brute force his way through any interaction with Rebus.

He did, yes (unless touching it did something to him before he could).

He's not worried. He is confident in both his abilities, and his experience. some might call him arrogant, but I've always said it's not arrogance if you have the skills to back it up.

👍

As he picked it up, it seemed to quiver in his hands. It didn't seem to like itself, or him. As he sent the string of Chaotic Light energy into it, it just dissolved and the shard remained unchanged. A piece of paper appeared on the ground where it had been though.

I (and Rebus) would agree, though backing up confidence with steamrolling past other's powers in not nearly as impressive as following the rules and still tying your opponent in knots.

Rebus grinned, the paper being picked up the ground and placed in his hand. "Let's see if I am correct."

oh, of course. but Platypus doesn't care about what's impressive, or what's fair. especially not in the state he's in

It was in an illegible script.

I'm guessing I'll find out what state he's in later. Is the shard sharp?

Rebus touched it to the shard, committing the script to memory in case it was somehow damaged.

It could cut him if he wasn't careful.

Nothing happened. Well, besides him committing the script to memory. And most things that normally happened. Perhaps it would be most accurate to say nothing unexpected happened.

She glowered at it and took them to a previously defined beach she knew, not wanting anything to do with it.

Rebus folded the paper and teleported it to his potentially hazardous material area, then intentionally pricked his finger with the shard.

He also sent out a clone or two to collect those shards Tam was running away from, assuming they were still there.

The paper disappeared from his hand, but never arrived at the designated area. His finger began to bleed.

On said beach is a remarkably incompetent figure known as Cep, who stares at everyone on the beach and wonders how they all got there

Only two of them now lol

A blonde young woman and a dark-hair young man were standing in the sand a distance away.

Cep walks up to them. “Howdy there. Whatch’all doin’ here? Han’t seen ya ‘round here before.”

The cut sealed itself up.

Rebus teleported to Tam herself (@Through The Living Glass). "I take it you've received a shard as well."

She raised an eyebrow at him, looking pissed.

Could say the same to you, the girl said bitterly in his head.

Rebus's smile was friendly, not vicious or mocking. "This is, in a way, my fault, so I can take it off your hands if you would like."

Cep looks around in confusion and a little alarm. “What wa’ that?”

Cep totally has not registered that there is a conversation happening in front of him.
