Nameless transmitted a mental harumph. If you want genuine people, don't go with Rebus. He may be genuine, but he's genuine for manipulative purposes. 2 hours ago, Dragonheir said: Rebus ignored Nameless’s disparaging remarks. “I was going to feed his power to you.” Ah. You'll need to get me into contact with his core for that to work. 2 hours ago, Dragonheir said: Rebel nodded. “It was pretty strange - I guess that’s what I get for going there after dark. But if you need to bring me somewhere, I understand.” He also coiled a cloud of invisible utility fog around the man, to kill him at a moment’s notice. The two guards looked at each other. Then the one that had been talking to Rebel nodded and turned towards the castle, waving a hand to Rebel. "Come on. I'd best take you to the captain. He'll know what to do with you." Cursed Treasure pulsed in Rebel's hand suddenly. I sense power. 1 hour ago, TwinStorm said: yeh sorry I was in a mode The hunters shivered. Then as one, they began to teleport away. The hunters stared in awe. One, however, strode forward, taking in the field of battle. Simon. Malan's oldest and most powerful hunter. "This is it, then." he sighed, lighting a cigarette from his pocket and puffing on it. "Our last mission." No worries. Jacob, one of the more experienced hunters, snorted. "Always positive, aren't you Simon?" He slapped the older man on the back, then raised his voice for the rest of the group. "Don't worry lads. This is a simple mission. We go in, cause some havoc to get the attention of whoever's in charge, and leave them with the ultimatum. With any luck, they'll do whatever we tell them." He looked at the rifts and shivered. "We'll be out of here well before we have to find out exactly what those things are."

I would argue the same to be true of every fictional character. We're all designed to make the readers, or onlookers, feel a certain way. Every action we take, everything we say, is to funnel their perceptions toward a goal. We are all inherently manipulative. While some of Rebus' actions may in the future catch me off guard, I know what his purpose is. Therefore, I find his earnestness to be more genuine than most might.

To clarify your intent, do you mean to prove that the Great Wizard did not organize the group that spied upon our council and later caused so much damage while attempting escape, both in our organization and later when we tracked them down?" "Ooh, that's a good one. I hardly ever get to Narratively control people. Rather taboo these days." Subversion stepped forward, cracking her knuckles loudly. "All right. Who's first? Any volunteers?" The Dreamsmith nodded in agreement. Then, mechanical jaw curling upward into a grin, he interjected: "Aside from myself, naturally." -- Regulus Venture woke up at dawn on the day he would leave for his great adventure, excited to begin this new chapter of his life. His mother had other ideas and made him stay in bed until half past eight so she could fix breakfast. Around nine-thirty in the morning when he finally got out the door he strapped on his sword, swung his cloak around his shoulders, received a few sage words of advice from his father, and stepped out the door with a spring in his step. He made it halfway down the winding lane that led down the hill and into the woods before his mother called him back sharply, holding his pack of supplies in her hand. Around ten o'clock in the morning, after managing to escape the hugs of his mother and younger siblings, Regulus Venture, son of Eof, set off on his first quest. A young woman strode forwards. I volunteer. On 2/22/2025 at 8:09 AM, Dragonheir said: Meat wilts, literally. “It stop to how know don’t I.” “I would agree with all you’ve said. Do you require anything more, or may I get back to running my organization?” “It may be Authorial placebo, but every one of my clone bodies has a Prismite core, which I have never seen reduce. But when I gave that Prismite to you two, it was used up quite quickly.” He gestured to the diminished state of the Prismite Balitan had been using earlier. “I’ve also never heard of a Narrator running out of power permanently, which suggests there’s some external source of Narration - perhaps the Thread itself - that is transferred to and stored within our souls.” “I should probably get some glasses myself, for the image.” A pair of glasses coalesced onto his nose. “And actually, I may need these depending upon what happens.” “I am a computer interfaced with an Ennuller core. Neither portion would function without the other, I believe.” Interesting, mused the ennuller. Tell me, what are your computational capabilities? We have... somewhat of a job opening, I suppose you could call it.

There's gotta be something here. - Tam took a deep breath. Will you SHUT UP.
