Moni woke up with a splitting headache, eyes squeezed shut. She felt the odd buzzing sensation that she always did when the Authors didn't quite know where she was, and decided not to open them, but hoped the Authors would soon figure that out.

She shrugged. "We're gonna be working on your eyes today. I'd strongly recommend going under. We'll numb you, but it'll be... quite unpleasant."

Her smile grew. "We're not hurting him. We're improving him. He agreed to let us do whatever we want so long as we don't hurt you. We're keeping our end of the deal. You are safe, we'll keep you fed and clothed, and he will undergo experiments designed to improve him, or break him. We'll see what happens"
