Tam was getting really stressed out.

She really wanted to follow Bat and see if she could help -and also, y'know-

-make sure he did try anything.

But she also didn't want to leave all this people alone together . . .

. . .

She looked at Peter and Val. @NameIess @Kajsa

Come get me if anyone starts fighting, got it?

Then she headed out the back door to find Bat.

Peter nodded. “Will do.”

Rebus nods to the figure. “Ah. I’d suspected this would happen, though I admit I forgot about the duel. I’m a fan of your work, as I mentioned to Balitan here.” He smiled, then winked. “As for caution, I learned my lesson after feeding that rabbit Plotblades. Though I don’t have access to any Prismite not tied to me, so I have little choice.”

Ah, a man of history. I knew I liked you. And you're researching the secrets of the fundamental essences as well. I can be of help to you.

Tam eyed all the newcomers . . .

She should really follow Bat- but scud she didn't want to leave all these people together in one room.

She would go in a second.

Bat closed the door and turned to meet the large blue eyes of a slightly glowing dragon. He yelped, scrambling back.

"Sorry! Sorry," the dragon apologized, but she sounded a little amused. "Didn't mean to scare you."

Bat glanced back at the door. "I didn't expect to see you."

She tilted her head. "Really? Why'd you come out here then?"

"I..." He had been hoping to see her, and that was why he'd come out.

"Anyway," the dragon said, curling up on a cat tree, "What's up?"

He looked down at his feet. "I dunno," he mumbled.

"Come on," she coaxed. "Talk to me."

With a deep breath, he looked up at the sky. "I... I'm tired," he whispered. "And it's... we're not doing anything. I'm trying to fix her, but I'm getting nowhere, and who knows what's happening to my home right now........ but she doesn't want to do anything. And I feel so stuck."

"And......" He rubbed his eyes with his hand. "I don't know what she... really thinks of me. Or if she's just using me... or if her Author is just using me... I'm so sick of not doing anything."

The dragon nodded. "To be honest, I don't like when there's no drama either. So personally, I think you should tell her all that." She grinned.

Bat gave her a flat stare.

"What? At least I'm being honest!"

"Yeah, well..." He looked down at his hands.

She jumped off the cat tree, growing larger as she landed and nosed his face. "Hey. It's gonna be okay. Probably."

He looked at her and snorted, realizing just how ridiculous this was. "Thanks."

"Yeah. Of course." She turned into a scaly person and hugged him. Her scales were weirdly warm.

A note fluttered down. Look at that paper I gave you every now and then.

Then it burned into ash.

Not recently. Usually, that would be the case, but . . . we just keep facing enemies who aren't affected by my powers. I can't do anything, and I end up a liability . . . she shrugged.

What was that all about, anyway? she repeated, pointing to the spot where the golden person had been hugging Bat.

She snorted. I kinda wish they didn't exist, but . . . they do. Unfortunate in most cases, but overall they're generally fine people, the Ennullers. Plus Bat's people have tattoos that make them invulnerable to Narration, so that's annoying.

He groaned. "I'll try. But its likely she's gonna flip. I hope you know that" he told her as he began to walk away. "Heeey Five" he said, trying to sound comforting. "Look, I'm gonna level  with you. I wanna avoid it, but I said I'd help you and protect you this is how it's gotta be. Can you do this for me?" he asked, staying in the softest tone he knew

Rebus smiled. “Good, I like it when people like me. And when they help me. How did you end up as a deactivated core? I’m trying to establish more qualities than light/dark and order/chaos, so the ability to turn Prismite off is both intriguing, and fairly worrying. Though I suppose I’ve gone without my soul before.”

That's a fair point. But usually they just revoke the Narration I place anyway, or Nullify my power before I can do anything, et cetera . . .
