Aden stumbled. 

The guards posted outside the door turned. The first activated her sword and swung it through his neck, knocking him out.

The next time he woke up, he awoke in metal restraints. The bed was bolted to the floor this time. Aden had been joined by another woman with dark hair, almond shaped eyes, and tanned skin. 

"You want me to trust you, restraints aren't the best idea."

This feeling.

This was the feeling she'd been trying to find.

Peacefulness. A sense of security.

She was a little surprised to also find that this -allowing Bat to try and help her- didn't bother her anymore. Probably because she realized now that how she felt also affected how he felt.

Maybe . . . maybe I could talk about it a little . . . she said hesitantly.

She opened her mouth to say something, looking apologetically to the doctor.

He shrugged.

"You could come with me for a little while, if you'd like."

He brightened. “That- that would be good.”

Five hesitated, then nodded.

"You want me to trust you, restraints aren't the best idea."

“You want us to let you go, escaping isn’t the best idea.” Aden folded his arms. 

The woman gave him a look. “We’re not going to keep you long, I promise. We’ve been gathering information on this group for a long time, and we’d sincerely appreciate any knowledge you could offer.”

Five hesitated, then nodded. 

“You want us to let you go, escaping isn’t the best idea.” Aden folded his arms. 

The woman gave him a look. “We’re not going to keep you long, I promise. We’ve been gathering information on this group for a long time, and we’d sincerely appreciate any knowledge you could offer.”

"I don't have anything. I got 'conditioned' then sent back to my hole and laid in my corner and waited for it to happen again. Sometimes I'd spar with my wall when I got bored. That's it."

Lise was there too, and she greeted Irie with a nod.

The Valiant One walked into the cabin, wearing a new cloak with the hood down, sword in a sheath at his side. "Always pack a spare set of clothes when you're monster hunting! Is Cricket all right?"

Bat and Tam weren’t in the main room, but there WAS a guy with shaggy hair jamming out in a full-size drum set.

Balitan called Rebus. "Hello? I would like some samples of another fundamental metal for research. Also I would like to pick your brain about some things."

The blood drained frim Five’s face when she saw the restraints.

“Fine. He tried to break out, apparently.” Lise shrugged. “We’ll only hold him until he gets healed up, though. He doesn’t seem to know anything important.”

Why? Not really. But I certainly know . . . what I wanted to do because of those feelings.
