Malevolence reappeared as soon as Cricket and the rest had left, then walked over to Malan's corpse. He leaned down and placed something on the corpse, then stood up and looked at it.

Malan's body now bore a post-it note with the words "The Machination sends their regards" written in sharpie.

@SpiritOfWrath Was the Machination your evil organization?

He teleported away, appearing next to Ruia. "I have slain Malan, as you ordered."

She took them all to a small cottage in the middle of some woods somewhere.

There were a couple different rooms with beds in them.

Yes, I’m sure they love California, with their million dollar starter homes that are no bigger than a cardboard box. Actually those starter home might be cardboard boxes. The cost of living along the west coast was insane.
