Across the field, Malan conjured cords of Enulling energy, binding Rose.

Malevolence staggered back, vision blurry. Bat needs an opening, and I doubt me and Cricket getting beaten to a pulp will give him one, so... time to change plans. "I shall destroy you Malan!" He tapped his left gauntlet. "Death comes from on high!"

The sky erupted in lightning. bolts struck wildly all across the clearing, setting trees and grass ablaze in their fury. A bolt struck in front of Malevolence, blasting him off his feet. Really should have though about that. I'll have to figure out a fix for next time.

The lightning continued striking the clearing, threatening Malan and the heroes trying to stop him alike.

It was a young man, sitting on a rock. He seemed normal, except his eyes were glowing. "Where am I?" he asked again.

“I am a not-person called Afterimage! A hero died, and I possessed his body. For like, three seconds, and then it was burnt. So now I’m freeeeee! Don’t worry, I’m a good guy.”

Afterimage was a rippling, purple blue cloud of dust that formed the shape of a man.

Rose yelped, but even when it caught her square in the stomach, it didn’t hurt. 

She grinned and slammed her sword into his shoulder at an absolutely inhuman speed.
