“What about the other lady?”

"The other Rose? Yeah, we'll deal with her in a minute." She made the ground under Rose's feet ripple to intimidate her.

"Personally, I would like to have an escape route if things go poorly, y'know?"

“No, not her,” Rose said nervously. “The other woman down here.”

"There's another? Where?"

Rose stepped down the hallway the way they’d come, past the cell, then paused.

Could we possibly change this then? Possibly Mox isn't a Luxsprite, but another type of being that has ordered light energy?

Maybe? Almost all the Ordered light in TLT was corrupted into darkness or transformed into Chaotic Light when the Witherlord destroyed the Luxsprites. There's only ever been one other Ordered Light being in TLT if we're not counting the last Luxsprite or Platypus, and that was a leftover remnant of a crystal from the Luxsprite's time. It's not very likely that an Ordered Light being on the power level of a god could have existed for a significant amount of time without drawing the Witherlord's notice, as they could threaten him. And it's equally unlikely (if not more so) that an Ordered Light being with Mox's power could come into existence, as there's basically no way to create Ordered Light without a being of Ordered Light to start from.

“You may like to change your skin, if you are capable of doing so.” She shifted, growing shorter and younger. Tattoos sprouted across jet skin, and long black hair grew to the middle of her back.

"I see." nanobots crawl across Malevolence's face, rearranging his features and giving him tattoos. He now had black hair and clear blue eyes. "So you're the one who's responsible for the changes in this place? Most evil of you."

Somewhere far off...

Pot sat down, put his feet up on the table, and opened his book. This librarian job really was perfect. No one ever bothered to read his dusty old manuscripts besides the odd researcher or particularly ambitious graduate student, so for most of the day he was free to just relax with a good book. Today he was reading the tenth book of the Stormlight Archives: Lopen and the Knights of Lunacy. He was just about to reach the Sanderlanch when he heard the sound. The sound that every librarian was taught to fear from the moment they began their apprenticeship. The sound of small paws on hard stone.

Pot stood sharply, hurrying towards the sound of the vermin. It was good that he had this book, as it would doubtless work very well for smashing any rats attempting to eat the pages. He rounded the corner in the hallway that lead to the library proper, and froze.

A horde of rabbits filled the rows of bookshelves. But instead of eating the pages, they were carrying off the books. Quite efficiently too, stuffing the books and manuscripts into several massive sacks, which they then dragged through the hole they'd burrowed into the library with. "Wha-" A sharp pain ran up Pot's leg. He yelped, stumbling back, and looked down into eyes that were blacker than the darkest night. Fear paralyzed him as the void-eyed rabbit crawled up his legs and came to rest on his shoulder, never once taking its eyes away from his.

Paper. The voice that entered his mind dripped with malice. Give us your paper. The rabbit turned its head to sniff at Lopen and the Knights of Lunacy Give us your paper, and perhaps we shall not eat you. Pot dropped the book immediately, relieved that the little beast had looked away from him. Perhaps... perhaps he would survive this after all. It was only then that Pot noticed that all the other rabbits had stopped their thieving to gather around him, a sea of dark-eyed monsters. He screamed then, and tried to run.

He did not scream for long.

"Okay."

She followed.

She led them deeper into the dungeon. It wasn’t far before they came across another occupied cell.

Two walls were covered with scrawl, presumably made by the occupant. She was a woman in her late twenties with long, shiny, black hair (purple where the light hit) and an elegant pantsuit. She didn’t look up from her mutterings, clutching a sharp rock in one hand.

Tam walked up to the bars but didn't touch them.

Lady Bug’s head snapped up. “Tam. I heard you coming— saw you coming— knew you were coming.” The rock disappeared into her sleeve and she stood slowly, stepping toward the bars. “We don’t have long. A few posts, perhaps, no more.”

Tam couldn't believe her eyes.

"Lady Bug? Wait- what're you- how did-" She took in the state of the other Narrator. She reached for her hand.

"Are you okay?" She sighed. Evidently, she had something important to say. Everything would have to come later.

"What is it?"

“Don’t trust me,” she whispered. “This wasn’t a part of the plan. I didn’t realize how dangerous it was here. I may be crazy, but the other me’s— don’t trust the other me’s! DON’T TRUST THE OTHER ME’S!” The cavern seemed to shake at her voice.

Bat jumped when she yelled that, and grabbed Tam’s shoulders, pulling her away. Before he did, Lady Bug pressed a small piece of paper into her hand.

She clutched the piece of paper, pulling away from Bat. She didn't get closer to the bars, though.

"Why shouldn't we trust them? What didn't go according to plan?" She put the paper in her pocket.

"We could get you out."

She tossed back her head and cackled. “She won’t let me go. Never, never. I’m the core. The original. She can’t c-c—-“ She choked, unable to force the word out. “She can’t get to me. The others, though— DON’T TOUCH THE OTHERS. DON’T LET THEM NARRATE YOU.”

Bat jumped again.

Rebus nods. “I stand corrected, though I believe you wrote a song about Bacon in an unrelated incident.”

Rebus (prime) waves a hand forward and says “Mellon”. His utility fog disassembles part of the wall, leaving a passageway.

A paper reading “esirprus a rof semit bacon the bard yas ot tsrif eht be” flutters to the ground in front of him.

Desolation enters the building. The interior is dark, and the entire thing appears to be hollow. "When the first Narrators came here, they found this room empty. It was once a well, they thought, that could draw on the Narrative in safe amounts. But they desired more."

“Read it. Later. Keep Rose around and she can’t—“

“That’s enough,” Second Rose declared, appearing  out of thin air. She grabbed Lay Bug’s collar, teeth clenched.

Lady Bug stared her in the eyes for a moment, then threw back her head and laughed. “You’re really going to pretend? As if this isn’t exactly what you—“

Cricket, Rose, Tam, and Bat were dumped back on their beach. Lady Bug was gone, Second Rose was gone, and there was no trace of Nullite in the air.

In case Tam wants to check, it’s the exact same beach.

. . . The beach where she chained Rose up?

Exactly what she wanted, huh?

Tam stood, unnerved, and Narrated a tree to grow quickly out of the ground. Once it was fully grown, she tore the gas mask off.

"Okay," she began, "what was that?!"

Idk, the one they were hanging out at. I think so.

“I… don’t know,” Bat said. “That was… absolutely terrifying.”

Rose nodded and sat down on the sand, eyebrows knitting together thoughtfully.
