Perseus sighed, pacing through the cave. They were trapped and surrounded by Faceless, and demons. He looked at his companions and began to speak. "Look, I.." But his words were interrupted by a crash and the boom of heavy footsteps. He looked up, unsheathing his sword, but a man had already appeared at the entrance. "Atreides sends his vengeance, Avenger." he said, his body entirely covered in armor and a massive sword in one hand.

Kion’s eyes go wide with alarm. He stammers slightly but says. “Stop right there or I - someone - can kill you.”

The Priest smiled warmly. "Of course. I wish you a wonderful life with your husband. May the pages of your story be many."

Malevolence frowned. "Thank you for the strategy advice. However, I have another plan in mind. One that will work better with my employer."

He painfully limped over to his communication device and opened a line to Malan. Master? I must speak with you urgently.

Palsu jumped. "Atreides? Impossible!"

She smiled at him, before returning to Julian.

"You know him." Perseus frowned, placing himself between the soldier and his friends, drawing his sword.

The man laughed and charged at Perseus. Perseus parried his strikes, but the man merely knocked him aside as if he weighed nothing and brought his sword at Kion.

Malevolence grabbed the phone from his pocket. "Yes?"

"What about Moniker? Would you erase her memories of 655?"

I suppose if she were distressed by them, yes.

The Priest sniffed. "Only the entire ceremony."

Bacon drooped. "Aw, man..."

Kion ducks backwards. “Protection!” He surrounds the group in shimmering shields, but that sword looked like it would punch through in a few hits. But he’s so panicked he cannot think of other spells to use.

Rebus sighs. “Very well. Could you at least give me a shut-down button?”

Rebus is creating a copy of him and having the security system mind control him to direct his Narration. Why he is doing that is thus far unclear, though I do know.

“The copy of me there has removed his own Narration, and is a sanitized copy, as I mentioned. But yes, he can very much steal Narration.”

“My plans? Did I not just tell you I would not reveal my machinations?” He raises an eyebrow. “And regardless, if you were to look, you’d see I am no longer a Narrator. All I have is my nanotechnology, teleporter, and a real Narrator me sending me information.”

"Perhaps then you could... Enlighten me of the Narrators around nowadays."

“I will do so. I do hope we can have a pleasant relationship, even if you oppose the original on principle.” ‘Rebus’ smiles at the inkling. “There’re new Narrators around, of course. The real Rebus, the Scribe, Lady Bug, Faunus, Fael, and Tam are ones I can think of off the top of my head. Bacon is still here, as are Subversion, Sequence, and likely others. There are some antagonistic Narrators, namely Atriedies. I’ve likely forgotten someone, but Rebus will not tell me.”

The sword broke through the shield cleanly, the tip of it nicking Kion's shoe.

At the sound of his name Atreides appeared, sword drawn.

"Who is Rebus'? What is he?" Note the Rebus' (Rebus prime) "Subversion... Hmmm..."

Atreides sighed, looking around, and grabbed Rebus by the collar. "Why was I named?" He looked around, noting Desolation and smiled. "I know of you. An evil from the ancient past. You drove Thaidakar to his doom."

“Rebus’ is me; Rebus’s personality and resources without Narration or his soul. He - I - did that to prevent your blade from revealing the truth of the machinations he is organizing. I am unsure what I will do with me.”

Rebus’’s collar poofs into utility fog, forcing the hand back. Rebus’ smiles in an intentionally frustrating manner. “Let’s not escalate this to violence. How are you today?”

”Ok. That’s good - now, does he automatically steal powers? What if I were to hit him with something where the powers were detrimental?”

“A failsafe. In case something goes wrong with the Notblade, or someone seizes power, etc. Stuff like that. On that note, I should also add a system to expulsion and replace any corrupt minister of this place I forgot the name of.”
