Cricket frowned and Enulled him, just in case. He felt dizzy and almost threw up, but held it back. "What do you mean by that?"

Well . . . that hadn't been . . . so bad.

She sat back down shakily.

“It’s a code phrase.” Malevolence said amiably.

then the teapot he’d set on the fire earlier exploded, filling the room with fire and toxic gas. At the same time, the metal arms that had fallen to the ground sprang up, cutting the aspiring master of evil free and wrapping around Cricket’s legs to slow him as Malevolence rolled away along the floor, pulling a glowing laser knife from his boot as he lunged through the gas for Tam.

“It’s okay.” Faunus whispered back, “being cold towards me, I mean, not leftover trauma from Nameless. But I think I can understand, I myself having been too fond of half the Narrators I’ve met. They seem… almost frivolous, at times.”

”Yeah,” Moni said. “A lot of them are. Most aren’t malicious, they just… don’t realize the pain they can cause with a few sentences.”

Never mind. Just... don't stress yourself out. After everything that's happened today, you should get a little sleep. So should he, he reflected. He was exhausted to the point where he could barely stand, and he still felt like he was being burned alive.

Tam was still confused.

Weird.

Cricket did the stupid thing. He teleported in front of Tam without thinking, putting himself between Malevolence and her.

Bat screamed.

A Nullite dagger rammed into Malevolence, penetrating deeply and hitting with more force than it should have, slamming him against the far wall.

"Yes, an intelligent idea. I'll make sure to add it to the energy controlling calculations." Balitan's fingers fly across his keypad as he updates the program. "There's no need for your concern. The shielding is quite robust. I built it with much larger amounts of metals in mind. With such small amounts, I doubt there's anything to wo-"

Light filled Rebus's vision. fire burned his flesh. There was no noise, at least not that he could hear. Just light, fire, and when the light was gone, darkness.

Rebus feels disappointment. In himself and in the world. There hadn’t been anything he could do? Now his old friend was possibly dead, he couldn’t see anything, and their thousand-page experiment had exploded.

Moni laughed. "Oh, you think I'm a Faceless? I guess I shouldn't have snuck past you." She took a step closer to Kion, and he noticed that her dagger was missing from its usual place at her side.

Love is in Malevolence after all. And it seemed a good name to distract Authors from his true identity.

Kion, pretty sure Moni is Faceless, steps away again. He’d almost fallen for it.

Calling a witness does not mean they can't be hostile. And Platypus's paperwork made it clear that he should be considered hostile to the prosecution. Besides that, it's not necessary to always object.

"Well?" Prompted the lawyer. "What happened during your visit to the Dreamsmith?"

Personally, I don't think he's hostile, per se, he's just not entirely on their side. If all of what they say is true, than he would be. And even if he is hostile, this is a direct examination, not a cross examination, so leading questions aren't allowed. That one would probably be a good one to object to because a yes/no answer leaves out a lot of important nuance.

Platypus seemed to zone back in. "Sorry Your Honor," he began glancing around. He mentally curses when he sees Nogard. "I've been... a little bit distracted. There was a lot that happened on my visit to the Dreamsmith." He turned to the lawyer. "What specifically would you like me to talk about on the visit? There's a lot to go over. The fake Dreamsmith cave, Clemency, the letters, something Influencing the Dreamsmith, I could go on."

A voice comes to Sain. "Dost thou seek vengance towards the Emperor? For he seeks to destroy everything you know and care for. But I can help you."

Please, I'm trying so hard for someone to latch onto this storyline and nobody has yet.

Sain rolls his eyes. “Fine, mysterious ghost voice. The Scribe urges me to.”

imma be relatively absent until end o’ break

Leopold stumbled to his feet. "Excuse me... You said we are in TLT? Last I remember, there are no deserts in TLT."
