Livetha did so.

"They--" he scooted back. "So there was this guy, and he said he was gonna kill Tam and me, and so Cricket came back from Ennulling school and the guy took us to the woods and we had to fight him, and I came back to make sure Gaioh was okay, and Tam killed the guy and so she's sad now and Cricket's going after her and--- and it's fine. They're fine. He's with her--- she's fine, he's fine, everyone's fine." He laughed nervously.

Shoe blinked and stopped advancing.

. . . What?

He forged forward, unused to the snow. He had preferred to teleport to warmer planets, well on the run.

He didn't have to walk for much longer before the terrain changed a little. It became more rocky, and there was something dark splattered off to the side of Tam's trail.

 THE NEIL SAGA CONTINUES

MAYBE IF YOU SHOUT AT HIM HE BE QUIET

Cricket gasped, hurrying forward. No… no… He was supposed to protect her, not let her run off into the woods! He paused long enough to feel the dark stuff on the ground, well running forward.

"I... I don't know. I hope she's okay."

Rax, he hated just sitting here waiting. She probably needed hugs.

"She shouldn't be in danger. Cricket's going after her," he repeated.

Rebus sets out for him, teleporting to random coordinates until Omen’s magic causes him to end up there. “You are Omen, I assume?” He’s as always surrounded by barely visible utility fog, and he’s wearing a new outfit, with a different combination of white, black, and glowing orange than before.

"Indeed." Omen is in his ordinary foggy form, hovering a few inches above the rocky ground. Rebus appears to have teleported to the bottom of a chasm, sunlight peeking through the top far above, walls covered in glowing crystals. "If you are resolute, take my hand and begin your trial."

Somewhere very distant, an evil genius was hatching a plan for total conquest. The plan was taking a long time to hatch, however, so the evil genius in question had decided to try a shortcut. Using his patented Evil Communicator, he sent a mental message to all the most evil people available.

"Are you in need of an excellent and loyal servant to do your bidding? It's your lucky day! I, the great Malevolence, shall aid thee. I am well-versed in my magics, and while I don't have much experience in active evil, I am very quick on the uptake. I'm a go-getter with a penchant for destruction and chaos. My only weakness-if you can call it that-is my lack of a conscience. So hire my services today, and don't worry about paying me. I'm in it for the experience!

@The Sly Cookie @Ookla the Irreplaceable I know you two have evil guys, but anyone else with an evil person is welcome to hire Malevolence. First come first served! Although he might be willing to work part time for multiple villains.

It was -fortunately for him- actually Tam.

Every visible part of her body showed signs of frostbite, and her face and hair were caked in died blood from an injury that had obviously stopped bleeding a while ago. Her eyes were closed, and there was quite a bit of snow covering her, except for where Cricket had knocked it off.

Small puffs of condensation appeared in the air in front of her as she breathed softly, but there wasn't much. She also wasn't shivering anymore, which wasn't a good sign.

Cricket gasped, digging her out. “Tam? Tam!” he said, picking her up, cradling her gently. “Got to get you somewhere safe.”

He teleported them to one of his old hideouts, from when he had been on the run, and set her down softly, before setting out blankets, putting her there.

Bat! Bat! he screamed. I need you! He teleported to his location.

Aha! A taker! In order to properly serve you, I shall need a bit more information. Locations, specifically. Also, could you tell me your motives for killing them? I need to understand the great minds of the evil world if I am ever to one day create my own masterly plots.

@Halcyon The Only

He jumped to his feet. "What's wrong?"

He glanced at Gaioh, who was still an eel. Gaioh would be fine, right? Until he could get back. Rose couldn't kill him very easily while he was an eel.

"I'll come. Sure."

I don’t know. When I do, I’ll tell you and you’ll kill them.

Rebus nods solemnly, and takes Omen’s hand.
A copy of Rebus back in his moon raises an eyebrow at the message. “That seems suspicious. I would take a communicator, though. I bet it’d be useful.”
