The trial of the Great Wizard was at hand. All of those who signed their names on Sequence's hijacked invitations were teleported to the stands to observe, and anyone else who wished to come was welcome.

Summary of what this is in case you've forgotten/don't know:

  Reveal hidden contents

The Great Wizard was a council member of an organization known as the Brave Adventurers. He discovered the existence of the two most dangerous Plotblades and attempted to find them in secret so as to protect the Thread, telling no one, not even his fellow council members of his actions. His actions were discovered, and the Brave Adventurer, leader of the order and a very shifty fellow, was able to get the Great Wizard removed from the council and declared a fugitive thanks to a very conveniently worded letter from the Dreamsmith that implied the GW was attempting to claim the Blades for himself. Some people on an adventure snuck into the council room while this was going on and caused a fight as they escaped, then met up with the GW and planned to help him find the Plotblades before they fell into the wrong hands (read: any hands). Before they could start on that, the Brave Adventurers caught up, and the ensuing battle ended with the party scattered, the Great Wizard captured, and several brave adventurers dead. Now the GW is on trial to determine the extent and true nature of his crimes, and all is progressing as the Brave Adventurer planned.

A hush spread over the watching crowd as the Great Wizard was led into the room, hands chained with glowing lines of magic, two dozen guards surrounding him. The imprisoned old man walked slowly to the Chair of the Accused, where he was locked in place with enchanted chains. Before him sat the council of the Brave Adventurers. The General, an imposing Ghanderflaffle wearing full ceremonial armor. The Valiant One, a young man who glared at the Great Wizard with the anger of one who has been betrayed. The Unseeable Thief, glancing from side to side as if expecting an attack at any moment. The Wise Scholar, head bowed. The Ancient Flaffle, a grandmotherly Ghanderflaffle in a simple brown dress. The Silent Hero, an impassive, implacable man who stared at the prisoner with an unreadable face. The Wise Judge, a thin man with round glasses and thin gray hair, wearing the robes of his station. And the Brave Adventurer, a short man with perfectly groomed blond hair dressed in a black suit. He sat polishing his iridescent pocketwatch, face filled with self-satisfaction.

The Wise Judge stood up, gripping his gavel tightly. "Are both sides prepared to make arguments? Who stands to accuse the defendant?"

An adventurer rose from a table beside the Chair of the Accused. "I am, your Honor. We are ready for the trial to begin."

"Very well. And the defense?" The Wise Judge turned his gaze to the table of the defense.

"That's us." ... whispered to Selppaenip. "Stand and acknowledge that you are the defense and that we are ready for the trial to begin."

"I see." Mist swirled around the Emperor, and he was sitting on his throne, Omen nowhere to be seen. Before him knelt a cloaked woman. "Mighty Emperor, I have come to offer my aid to you in the coming conflict. I can equip your army with mighty weapons that will destroy your enemies."

"What do you care about?"

"The defense is ready to begin!" announced Selppaenip.

Subversion grinned. “Signed a contract that deals away my powers. For safety or some such nonsense.” She flipped her hair back over her shoulder carelessly. “What was your name again?

"I don't have a name," said the woman warily. "I am called Survivor 656."

Ista studied the proceedings interestedly.

You’ll tell me if you notice anything I don’t?

Yes.

Jilu abruptly disappeared and appeared as a witness in the Great Wizard’s trial.

Tenth thought for a moment.  It is obviously not in your body, so it is not essential to my survival. I want it out.

Maybe one of the Ennullers remembered something about a specialty method of doing this that the unnamed mystic mentioned when securing compensation for Tenth.

Charles nodded. Very well. How do you plan to remove it?

"Tellin is offended that you have not yet picked this up," he sniffed.

The doors slammed behind him. Torches fwooshed to life, two by two, down the long stone hall.

Beosta shrugged. "As long as they're not aggressive."

Gail leaned forward, breathless. Finally, something familiar.

Nogard watched the proceedings with bated breath.

@xinoehp512

I do not imagine that you have to kill him, much as you might wish to see him dead. There are many ways to resolve conflicts.

He laughed grimly. "I will see that man dead. I don't care about your objections. That man has slaughtered millions to try and get me, and I will avenge them. I will have my vengeance."

@SpiritOfWrath, for some reason I can’t quite right now.
Welcome back.” Rebus says a bit sullenly. “The Adari AI does sound interesting. Is it unimportant enough that I can fight it, but strong enough I won’t obliterate it? My Author probably wants to hear more about it anyway.”

“Tellin is not encouraged by your lack of stupidity,” the cat grumbled.

"And what in the forgotten gods' names is that supposed to mean?" he says chuckling to himself and shaking his head slowly. He continues to walk, the light growing from the torch in his hand. Along the walls, he unknowingly narrates more sconces holding unlit torches, and he begins to light them with his already large flame as he goes along.

Makes sense. Your Author has been taking a bit of a break recently.

And that's a good idea; where is she again?

Oh, Template, earlier I meant that you should ask Livetha to connect you to the others, Tam informed them.

"Conspired to hide their existence, I think," whispered Nogard. "I imagine the prosecution will give the exact charges."

"He's the monster who split my soul and merged it with another. He's the one who's sent hunters after me, and caused the death of a planet. He is the one who won't survive the year."

Well, regardless, she was grateful.

she's also really lonely and looking for some to attach to

In other news, a lemon shark was drifting lazily towards Bat.

@Halcyon The Only

She chattered, turning into a green dolphin and swimming after Tam. She Narrated a wall of coral around Tam, and swam up.

Tag! You're it! She laughed. I used to love this game.

No fair! she laughed, making herself ever so slightly faster.

Fael made herself go super-sonic, breaking the sound barrier, which didn't make sense underwater, but, hey, they're Narrators!

Tam Narrated the water behind Fael to be completely still so that none of their friends nor the local fauna would die, then teleported to her, tagged her, and teleported back.

She turned into a minuscule crab and hid in some coral, giggling.
