He hugged her back just as tightly, feeling tears fill his own eyes.

I thought you were dead . . . I thought I'd lost you, he said, voice wavering.

She couldn't hear him, because Livetha was still disoriented. But she got the message from the way he hugged her.

"Thank you," she whispered. She didn't know what had happened, but there was no way she'd just come back alive. I love you.

Unfortunately, Livetha reconnected them right before she thought that. Beosta didn't know this, though.

It said.

HERE is my gift!

It may cause a shift

That will make near

Everyone stop from their leer

- The Scribe

Bat stared at it, and for some reason wanted to smile. "So... what does it do?"

Pyk looked curiously. OOOOHHHH that's what's happening... hhhhmmm.

He extended a hand, and Asher was launched away from Dint. "Hey! Please. We need you!"

The Great Wizard shook his head. "Do I look okay? I have betrayed everyone I cared for for nothing! How could I be okay?"

"For nothing? How long have you prevented these Plotblades from being noticed? Did you actually seek them for yourself, or was it truly to prevent the Thread from being destroyed? If it was for the good cause, and it has succeeded it was not for nothing!"

Platypus started pacing. "Do you want to be convicted? Do you wish you hadn't done what you've done? Do you think yourself a worse person than me, even after seeing my darkness? How can you feel sorry for yourself when the Plotblades are still out there!"

He paused. "I am sorry. I let my emotions get the best of me. If you wish it, I will go."

The Scribe giggled again. Narration was so wonderful!

Another note fell from the sky.

Creates illusions, of course! Incredibly, freaking awesome illusions that appeal to all senses. I got it courtesy of one of my favorite creations!

Asher rolls to their feet. “eins og tú gert. ive verið nyttuleysur síðani alt hetta tingið sum frásøgumaður og ennullers kom um!” This would be much more dramatic if they were speaking English. Yeah right. Asher in a flash took their throwing knife and launched it at dint.

Cricket looked around, confused.

The last figure Cricket had stabbed, the one who'd saved him-perhaps inadvertently-from a knife in the back, coughed, shifting slightly.

Atreides shook in anger, and ran towards her with inhuman speed, his form blurring as he slashed with his spear of light. As he ran, he casually tripped Perseus, who fell.

Moni ducked the spear of light, reaching into her pack and pulling out a shield. "Not even worth using your sword on am I? Maybe you think that just because I don't kill people, I'll let you kill me?"

"I... suppose I did keep the Plotblades from notice. But if I had told a few others, like my old student the Valiant One, then I could have prevented all the suffering that has since taken place. Adventurers are dead because of me and my actions."

The throwing knife was ineffective. its something to do with the fire... and the fact that you are dead... don't worry, the explanation makes sense.

[Working up a translation... Oh no that's not true. My calculations show that your unique situation makes you perhaps the only one able to kill the Husks!]

@oOklA thE shInyYyy

Not like that, you need to cut someone with it, and then they will see the illusion. Don't worry, since it is technically an illusion itself, it can kinda go through anything.

"Idon'tknowwhatyou'retalkingabout," she mumbled.

I think I really do.

Gaioh eyed him and took a step to the side.

"If you had told others, it would have gotten out sooner. There was no good solution for you. And, callous as I may seem when I say this, adventurers die a lot. They die on most adventures they go on, including this one. They would have died, with or without your actions."

Well, the illusion usually lasts for some five minutes. Wouldn't want the others to be tooooo mad at me.

"But the adventurers who died would not be dead. Perhaps others would have died, perhaps they would have died. but that doesn't mean that I am not responsible for those deaths."

Only by cutting them again. People were getting mad when one of my creations got out of hand, so I had to tone it down.

They almost stopped, but cades voice rang in their head. Don’t listen to Cade. Asher just stared at them. Their brain torn between attacking and not.

The Scribe was getting annoyed. A note dropped next to Asher.

It felt like getting struck by lightning. It felt like... like...

Well, it felt like what it was. It felt like her favorite person she'd ever met had said she was his favorite too-- which he hadn't strictly said, but it was close, right?

"I really do love you. I really do." It was so scary to say, but the words tasted so amazing it was absolutely worth it. "You're my most favorite person. Thank you."
