I must ask. Was your misspelling of dyslexic intentional?

Yes, although I realized later I forgot the e and that was unintentional.

Bat eventually just shut his eyes and ignored it.

She took a deep breath and nodded. She lifted her hand a little, but stopped herself. Had she just been about to take his hand? Mushy brained idiot.

She started toward her father, who stood slowly. She had a hard time meeting his eyes, but when she did, they were... soft.

She ignored the way her heart jumped with excitement. "Father," she began, "I wanted to ask---"

Before she could finish, he stepped forward and hugged her tightly. She gasped, tears welling in her eyes, and hugged him back.

But... but it wasn't quite as nice as hugging Shoe. Shoe never felt... almost rigid, like her father did.

She felt him move and dismissed it as unimportant---

---until something blunt and round hit her spine.

The others saw Hidel pull out a dagger with a ghostly looking blade that rippled in the light. Before anyone could react, he stabbed Beosta in the middle of the back. Beosta crumpled. A golden tendril of what looked like mist rose in the air above her. Hidel dropped the dagger, catching Beosta's inert body with the utmost care.

A golden tendril? Hmmmmmm

And what exactly is a Husk again? Gosh I ask that alot.

Asher nodded and grabbed alot of the adari and chucked it at the beast. All those years of baseball are coming in handy now. oh dear hamingja please let this work.

Sorry. I’ve kinda dumped my book lore upon you…

Imma give a spoiler as well as a “too long didn’t read.”

Spoiler

So basically there are two things. The Casts (Adari), and the Strands (I don’t have a name for this). (Disclaimer: this only really applies to those born as part of my peoples)

They two are both present inside most every human being, and, for most of those, are present in equal levels. Since they are most of time equal, they cancel out.

In a few cases, the two are imbalanced. This occurs for the children of other imbalanced, but can also occur if they ingest some of the material.

If the materials are imbalanced, then the host gains a certain amount of control what the materials do when electrified, as some of the material is free.

When a human dies, the two materials will use this (and a third material released by their death) to destroy eachother. But when it is imbalanced, there is a little bit left of one; so there is only one of the materials in their body.

This is how the last group, those who have only one material in them, occurs. Their power attempts to imitate them, to be like them. For the Adari, it is bad at mimicking motor function, but good at mimicking their thoughts. It effectively mimics their brain exactly, so they are really the same person.

For the other, it is good at mimicking motor function, but incredibly flopping poor at mimicking their thoughts, because it is so inherently aggressive. So the dead of that material turn into bloodthirsty zombies. These are called Husks.

The problem is, when those who have one of them die, they have nothing holding the material back. No opposing material. So… they are so much stronger. And when a Husk attacks one with an imbalance favoring the Strands, they easily overpower them. And not only overpower, they kill them. So now there are two Husks.

Thats why I call them zombies, because even though they don’t infect each other, they quickly multiply.

There is a tiny bit more, but I shan’t be going into that m, (unless I bring Nasriel into this…)

A Husk is what happens when someone who can command the Strands dies. They become infinitely more powerful with the Strands and are controlled by the Strands, they no longer have free will, they only seek to destroy.

The dust cancels out a small area of the Strands, and Pyk gains that much ground. It is just enough for Pyk to envelope the Husk in the Casts, and for him to win. Gasping from exertion, he thanks Asher.

Charles nodded slowly. Very well. Meditate on that for a little while. Call for me when you have an answer.

With that, he vanished.

Tenth looked down. Who was he? Wriulin had always been quick with an answer, quick to assure him and his fellow Testers that they had purpose. That they were working for the good of the world.

But...

He had never even known what that... good... was

What was the point of those suits he had endlessly tested?

He looked at his hands. What was the difference he had made? How had his testing changed lives?

Heyheyhey!

Must I tell you of Hasratha?

And Wriulin, the Ruler of the Hasrathans.

And Drin.

These were even before the blue-purple fog! 🤪

Shoe stood and whirled on her angrily.

Why did you just STAND THERE?! he roared. You're a NARRATOR!! WHY DIDN'T YOU DO SOMETHING?!

He didn't seem to have heard what she said at all.

“I didn’t know he was gonna do that!” She folded her arms. “But if you’re gonna yell at me, I guess I’ll be on my way.”

She waved her hand. A white door appeared beside her, a leash wrapped around Livetha, who tried to skitter away before Gaiou grabbed it, and the golden tendril coalesced into a small golden sphere just like what Gaioh’s soul had looked like. It still orbited Livetha.

Lady Bug vanished.

“Great,” Bat griped. “The only useful one is gone.”

Gaioh hit him.

Aw but it’s so sweet that he’s so upset ❤️

Wait did Lady Bug take Livetha with her or did she leave her there?

Thanks, my small brain will ask about this a few more times before I remember it 🤣

Asher nods just looking back and forth between where pyk is and where the husk was. “ja ye ye hesin heimurin er forvirrandi og undarligur” hehe google translate that took so long it find the right language. Asher was speaking in their native language. I mentioned Asher has an accent at some point right. Is Faroese btw. Asher walked to him. “Are you alright?! You got stabbed and then alive and then magic?” They were shocked so they were not speaking English well.

Grumble grumble why cant we have proper lore time!! Gtg for dinner.

sad. But ok.

[Another language... interesting...]

Pyk nodded. "Our magic is a bit contrived. Stabbing myself gave the push that was needing to make sure there wasn't anything holding the magic back. But now..." He extended a hand, and a blue-purple fog lifted. "...It is only a question of what I understand. You see, if I leave something out of the instructions, it doesn't put it in for me. If I forget something, like, say, make sure this doesn't accelerate too far, it may generate plasma. It can be very dangerous."

“Incase you’re unaware, I’m not omnipresent. I’m not that large, thank you very much. You have no idea how to talk to a woman, do you? First the whole rhetorical thing, now you’re declaring me fat.” Faunus said, crossing her arms over her chest, that one eyebrow still raised, expression flat. While that twinkle was still in her green eyes, the rest of her seemed unamused, although there was just the smallest twitch at the corner of her mouth, the barest upturn of a smirk.

I mean... I don't think that's the kind of thing that can be copywrited, and a lot of people use similar things. I promise I didn't copy you; I haven't been paying much attention to anything but Bea and Shoe tbh :P
