"Well, you've found me out," Bacon said with a sigh. "I'm actually not that good at solving problems! Fortunately, I know people who are."

This revelation utterly shattered his worldview.

That depends. How hungry are you?

"I am here to meet with the Great Wizard!" he announced.

"Well, even good people can stand to lean things about themselves. Remarkable, really, how much we can miss that goes on literally inside our brains."

"Well, this horse is," said Bacon. "So it's clearly possible."

The breadmunks pranced by with cupcakes. Confetti rained down. A song played very faintly.

"What's up, Cricket?" asked Bacon. "How would you rate that summoning?"

¨Well why am I on it?! I mean... why did it pick me up???¨

"Oh! Of course!" she said cheerfully.

"Two things real quick; actually, three. One, when he wakes up would you tell him I'm going with Cricket to see the Dreamsmith; sorry if he freaks out. Two, maybe don't tell him for a bit just because he definitely won't be feeling good . . . anyway; and three, would you give him this phone? He's gonna need it."

“Yeah, sure. Good luck— don’t die, please.” She paused in case there was anything else.

Sequence looked down at his ankle again, still rather worried. "Yes. The party is over. Can you get out by yourself? If you tear up your invitation it'll return you to wherever you were before you arrived."

Sequence nodded, snapping her fingers and whispering some indecipherable words to Cardinal and Fuzzy, who hurried off in separate directions.

The knife spun in a few circles, then faced the woman again. "Update: it is time to leave. Please tear up your invitation to return to wherever you were before you used it." The knife then drifted off somewhere else hastily.

“One of Sequence’s minions or something, I guess. It’s all over there if you wanna go look. But yeah, party’s over.” She went back to Shoe, considered for a moment, and then tore up his invitation. He’d probably be upset waking up on whatever ground he’d wake up on, but she’d rather he be away from… whatever it was that had scared Sequence so badly.

For the lunch room of a secretive and powerful organization, it looked surprisingly... normal. Food was available at the back of the hall. Ennullers sat in groups or alone at tables around the room, eating and conversing quietly.

A few Ennullers appeared with torn invitations, evidently returning from the party.
