I miss warm rain. 🥲

All the rain out here in Utah is cold. :(

Speaking of which . . .

Hah! Love it! XD

Shoe shrugged. I think she'd have been proud of you.

She looked away, eyes stinging from... from raindrops. "You don't have to say that, Shoe. Thanks, though."

Pyk gave a slightly bitter laugh. “You could say I’ve had some adventures. I am mainly a scientist, but before that, I helped bring down a gang. But the government supporting it… they are still in power.”

Ista nodded. “A bit frustrated with Onyx. Didn’t go too well.”

Sequence sighed, nodding understandingly. “Governments… Awfully odd those things are.”

”So I heard.” Sequence said. “Well, Onyx has a lot to deal with, I’m sure. Maybe we can try again in a few dozen pages, if you still need him.”

He nodded.

I never really knew my parents, either.

"They would have been proud of you," she told him. "No question."

He chuckled. Thanks.

He sat on the ground. It was a little bit wet, but he didn't care.

Beosta hesitated for a second, then sat down next to him. "How are you doing?"

I'm doing well, I guess. A little wet, he smiled, but well.

Do you want my cloak? I don't mind the rain.

You keep it. I don't mind.

How are you doing?

I'm fine. Just... thinking a lot. She looked out at the lake. I really can't fix everything, huh? No matter what I do, Gaioh's life will never be the same. And... that man...

Shoe, I  think it might be a good thing he's gone. She turned her anxious eyes to him. Is that bad?

He blinked at her.

I . . . I don't know. Maybe, he said after a moment, dread building in his chest.

She stared at the ground as they walked around. "I . . . that's a great question," she laughed nervously.

"I'm . . . not sure, truthfully. It's only been a week and a half since Ciara died . . ." she shuddered.

"Well . . . having responsibilities doesn't necessarily trap you, right? Or are you talking about something else?"

"I don't know, there were so many expectations. My father expected me to be a model of him, and I just wasn't. So I ran away."

"What questions do you have?" The tv spun on its stand to face Perseus, revealing the fuzzy outline of a man's head and shoulders. "I am the security system of this house. Answer, or I will evict you."

Subversion smiled. "I'll be at the trial, so I'll see you then. I might come to visit you before that, we'll see how things go."

"A mysterious voice told me to ask her about Endings." replied Perseus, " I believe it is the key to saving my people."

She looked away, shame crashing inside her like waves. I... I'm not saying I would have killed him. I don't think I could have killed him. But shouldn't it be Cricket's choice? After everything that happened? The thoughts kept coming, tumbling after each other like rocks dumped into a river. Maybe we could have held a trial for him. I just... for what he did, I... feel like an execution should have at least been on the table. Not in anger--- the way Cricket did it wasn't right. It wasn't. But he did a lot of bad things and he was trying to kill Cricket. So... so can we blame him?

"I see. Must've been pretty bad."

"I had no friends. Everybody was too afraid of me." he said, reaching a hand up to his violet eyes. "I was strange and different. They were just too scared. For good reason" he added, bitterly.

He looked away and shrugged. No. I don't think it should be Cricket's choice to end a life.

As for everything else . . . I don't have a good answer. Maybe.

"Who should choose, then?" she said softly. "Not me. I know that. Not me. But... somebody has to choose."

Did @xinoehp512 die, or does Xino have a life?

Said not in a mean way in a genuinely curious way.

"I'm not exactly sure, but from what I gathered, someone fused part of an Enuller's soul onto my soul at birth. I'm not sure who, or how, but it happened. He's scared, though, Tam, he almost seemed scarred. When the hunters attacked, he just shut down. I think the hunters' master is the person who fused us together. I truthfully have no idea though."

He shook his head. I don't think anyone should choose that.

"But... but what about self defense? Or terrorists? Or... or..."

She went silent.
