The young woman managed a small smile again, shaking Tam’s hand.

"Nice to meet you, Faunus! Now, do you know why you are important?"

She blinked, and then raised an eyebrow at the question. “Is this a rhetorical question? Because I honestly have no idea what’s going on. All I know is I hate sand, and now it’s in my hair, and between my toes.”

5 minutes ago, The Halcyon Girl said:

“Excellent! Nice to meet you!” She shook her hand with much vigor.

Faunus grimaced at the vigor the woman showed, holding on tightly to her glass of water in the other hand, trying not to let any spill.

"Pleasure to make your acquaintance, Faunus. I'm Subversion." A cool breeze began blowing softly through the shade of the awning, making the temperature quite comfortable. "How did you come to be in this desert?"

She eyed this, Subversion character, mouth downturning in a slight frown, acquaintances are they now? Very well then.

”I don’t know, at least, don’t remember. Why would you care anyway?” She said, bristling slightly, overwhelmed at all the people talking to her at once.

Hmm. Well, it's likely because you've never done anything like this before. Now that you've formed a vortex, pull the rest of the dark energy into it and compress it.

He sighed. Alright. Give me a minute.

He did his best to recreate what he'd done before.

There was a sort of creeping feeling, and the pool of energy grew larger.

Okay . . . almost there.

Then she froze Bacon in a block of ice, chuckling to herself softly.

Subversion eyed Fanas back, lips thinning. What's wrong with acquaintances?

"Perhaps I was worried for your safety." Subversion said indignantly, her shadowy dress billowing in the breeze. "Am I not allowed to be concerned for a woman who appears almost dead from dehydration and lost in the middle of a desert?"

Faunus’ brow rose again, her green eyes alight as she stood up to face this woman. “Alright, Princess, first of all, I can take care of myself, thank you very much.” She said, giving Subversion’s shadowy dress an amused look, as her own waist length strawberry blonde hair took flight in the same breeze. “And I don’t look nearly dead from dehydration.”

As she stated this, her appearance of looking dead from said dehydration went away, the sand shedding from her hair, knots in it untangling as it weaved itself into a nice braid. Her ragged clothings turning into a simple green dress, made for riding, her pale freckled skin losing the burns from the sun. And the whole time, Faunus seemed unaware, for when she glanced down, she started, and her image flickered for a moment back to the sandy wretch.

Subversion's eyes narrowed. Who are you calling princess, you... you...sand-covered... something! She folded her arms across her chest. "You don't? Well Fanuas, I think that if I had been lost in the desert without supplies, the closest living person at least fifty miles away, I would be more grateful to the people who showed up and rescued me."

She stepped towards Faunus, eyes glinting coolly. "Perhaps I should teach you a lesson in manners. It might help keep you from annoying your rescuers so much that they decide to abandon you the next time you're trapped in the desert."

Fanuas? We’re onto pathetic name calling now? Her mouth curled up in not so nice smirk as she raised her chin defiantly meeting Subversion’s gaze. “I was not lost, I knew exactly where I was going. And excuse me, I didn’t ask you to come here and ‘save’ me.”

Taking Subversion’s challenge, Faunus returned a step towards her, those normally lovely green eyes cold, “Manners? Please, I can already tell you don’t use those.” She said with a nasty scowl. “It wouldn’t be my first time being abandoned anyway.”

She then paused slightly, brow furrowing. Where did that last part come from? Faunus couldn’t remember… anything. But that one hurt, being abandoned.

The temperature under the awning dropped by at least twenty degrees. Pathetic NAME CALLING?! Subversion's hands tightened into fists. "Perhaps I should abandon you here. Or maybe, since you like the heat of the desert so well, you'd prefer to be left somewhere a little hotter? I hear the volcanic regions of Embryar are lovely this time of year." Her eyes glittered darkly.

"I suppose I shall excuse your rudeness, on account of your current state of distress." At least for now.

"Enough messing around. Once you've accepted who you are, you must also accept that this power is now just an extension of who you are. After that, you'll be able to effectively control it as if it was just another limb. First, attempt to just move the power into one area of your body. We'll progress to more advanced techniques once you are able to control it."

Cricket nodded. He focused, trying to seek the power, trying to understand it, letting himself be swallowed by it, embraced by it. Prisoner made it easier, his scattered memories showing how to use the power effectively. Then his arm turned a shade of darkness, not driven by fear or anger, but by calmness.
