You are a pebble in the wave. Let it wash over you, pass you by.

After a few minutes, Shoe finally managed to calm himself down.

"I suppose. Hmm. It's a shame the Great Wizard isn't available to make another prophecy. I imagine it's in need of updating."

"Yeah." Subversion cocked her head. "Maybe I could update it. Prophesying doesn't seem too hard, right?"

Selppaenip frowned. "Why are you giving it to me now, then?"

"We are required by our laws to make available to you all evidence regarding the Great Wizard's trial, even if there are parts of it that we would rather not anyone know."

"So..." asked Nogard. "Are you going to throw us in prison now?"

The Great Wizard looked over at him. "Hm? Oh, no. We won't be letting you run off until the Great Wizard's trial is done, just in case a conspiracy does come to light, but for now the evidence indicates that you really didn't intend to intervene in our meeting."

Gail looked up, alarmed. “Prison?? I don’t even know what’s going on! Are we doing something wrong??”

Examine yourself. What do you see?

Selppaenip looked at the envelope, puzzled. "So... am I allowed to read this or not?"

The Brave Adventurer sighed in exasperation. "I made the accusation after accumulating enough evidence to prove reasonable suspicion. Proving his guilt requires much more stringent proof."

Hacob looked at him. Much as he disliked it, that was good reasoning. "Look. If you're right, my bad. I'll apologize for my part in this. But I don't think you're right."

"Yeah. If we count you as an Ordered light being, then the last time all four powers were present like this was around the time when Nameless failed to kill the Witherlord."

"Well, I guess we can just hope that doesn't happen again. Almost makes me hope that I don't count as an Ordered Light being. Almost."

What do you mean, what do I see?

The consultant was somewhat perplexed. What can you sense about yourself? About your soul?

Shoe sighed. Okay. Hang on.

What are you looking for? :P

Well, depends on whether you want this to work right away or not.

The ostensible purpose of the exercise is to help Shoe sense the flows of power within him.

*blink*

Could you . . . go into slightly more detail about what both sides of that would entail

Nonetheless, an act of remarkable bravery. I'm impressed. The man smiled. I imagine you'll be interested in learning how to defeat withergeists, then?

Allow yourself to enter a meditative state. Let your thoughts and worries become Silent. Simply... listen.

Tenth nodded.  Yes.

Well, perhaps you want Shoe to struggle with this, in which case he would have difficulty or not be able to sense anything at all.

Or perhaps you want Shoe to succeed; in which case, he would detect the nullite as veins of ordered-dark power running through his soul.

Well, we'll get to that part eventually- I promise! But first, we have to work on the basics. Here, follow me.

He opened a hole into the Void and stepped through it into an empty, doorless room.

Now, I saw on your report that you have very little natural control over your own soul. Is this true?

Tenth followed, then hesitated at Charles’ words.  That was supposed to have been fixed by the doctor. I had an impure dose of Nullite.

Well, it wasn't exactly fixed, was it? Merely restrained. And it sounds like you were powerless against it.

Ah, okay, that makes much more sense. Thanks. XD

I . . . I don't know, Shoe said at last. There might be something there, but . . .

He sighed, trying again without much more success.

Cricket nodded, outside of the room trying to think. Acceptance. Who was he, truly, man or Enuller? Was there a difference? Could he be both. Then Prisoner spoke to him, in urgent, clear tones.  Run, Cricket run! Do not let his lies destroy you! he said, whimpering.

Then Cricket heard the voice. SO THE HATCHLING HAS FOUND ITS WINGS, HAS HE. IT DOES NOT MATTER. IT WAS INEVITABLE YOU WOULD DISCOVER THAT HALF OF YOU. I CAN STILL CRUSH YOU BENEATH MY THUMB. RETURN HOME, CHILD OF LIGHT AND DARKNESS, FOR MY HUNTERS ARE CLOSING IN.

Cricket fell in agony, unconsciously Enulling everything around him. Then it all stopped. He poked open an eye and looked at Bacon. "Bacon." he muttered weakly, still rattled. "The voice spoke again."

Beosta didn’t think there was much to see in her soul. All she saw was the backs of her eyelids.

You are sure you are focusing properly?  Make sure you have cleared your mind of all other distractions.

The consultant's voice was patient, but his finger-tapping betrayed his true emotions.

He may have a certification, but that doesn't make him a good teacher. :P
