"Oh, I would love to get out of this dreadful place," she said, shaking her head, "But I can't leave without someone of equal power to Ciara helping me free. Did you know you needed another Ennuller to come along?"

"We had some idea; this was primarily a reconnaissance mission. But required, you say? Why so?"

Tam blinked at the pigeon-Narrator. "What?"

"Well, technically speaking it's a form being controlled by your brother. But essentially the same thing."

"Well, I'm not an expert in how this all works, but it has to do with them breaking whatever power doesn't let me leave -oh, and yes, I can't physically leave- or basically bullying Ciara into setting me free."

She held out the pigeon she'd been carrying, and looked between it and the Narrator. "My- my brother?" She looked back at the bird in her hands. "You mean Shoe?" she said quietly.

Shoe began bobbing up and down excitedly.

"Fascinating!" said Bacon. "I would ask if you remember the exact wording of the curse, but I don't know if I'd understand it any more than you would..."

"One brother, signed, sealed, and delivered."

She chuckled sadly. "I do not, unfortunately."

Tam stared at the small bird in her hands. "Shoe?" she whispered.

Shoe nodded. Hey, Tam.

Tam hugged Shoe close, and tears began to fall from her eyes.

Shoe felt his own tearing up.

"Hey!" said Erif, moving his sword to face Wrath. "Shut up!"

And with that eloquent utterance, he charged, weapon raised.

[Uh,] said Bacon. [I didn't think of it. Oops.]

Wrath raised a hand, and a gust of wind blasted into Erif. With another hand, he held aloft a ball of flame, and twisted the smoke to cover everyone’s eyes. “Ista. I am nearly finished.” The fire went out. “The world will be mine.”

Erif’s sword disappeared, the thread cut.

Another pigeon flies toward Tam, hovering steadily in the air, speaking in clear tones: "Hail and well met! Thou mayst call me Natsu. Bacon is not the sole Narrator here, for I too doth possess such powers, and I have chosen to lend thee mine aid."

His wings flutter as he continues, "After long deliberation, and after countless centuries spent in silent witness to the unfolding of events, doing naught to intervene, I have at last resolved to partake in these happenings henceforth."

The pigeon’s beady eyes glint with an otherworldly wisdom as he nods toward the gathering of his feathered companions. "Once we depart from this place, and perchance defeat the Ennuller, if such be their intent," he glances meaningfully at the others, "I shall regain mine powers and be able to render thee far greater aid in full measure."

Natsu tilts his head and speaks once more, "But know this, Tam, the path we now tread is fraught with peril. The Ennuller’s power is vast, and their purpose veiled in shadows. Thou must steel thyself, for what lies ahead may test even the stoutest of hearts."

The air around Tam seems to hum with an ancient force as Natsu’s words fade, each syllable heavy with the weight of centuries.

Erif let out a shout as he was blasted backwards.

"Remain calm!" said the inspector as he groped though the smoke. "It grows stronger with your emotion." Chairs and tables had begun to melt and stream into the figure, causing it to grow ever larger.

[I thought you were going to escape,] hissed Bacon. [You're in actual danger if Ciara catches you, remember?]

[Bacon, you truly believe this is my real body?] Natsu scoffs, [I'd have thought you'd have realized at this point that my true body lies elsewhere.]

"Well then, we will simply need to take your advice and find an Ennuller. Unless you have any other ideas? We couldn't reason with Ciara, could we?"

"Ah, yes, lets just find another Ennuller, easy peasy," Natsu laughs, "For your information, they aren't the easiest to find, mush less convince to help"

He pauses for a second before continuing.

"I do know someone who could help, with the right price, that is"

"His name is Quagmire, and is an Ennuller. However, he left the ranks of Ennullers after 300 years of working for them. He now wanders around as a mercenary for hire. The catch is that he doesn't deal in money, but instead uses a power he was born with, the power to create unbreakable promises between 2 people. These promises can be quite dangerous, however."

"About 74 years ago, I had hired him to deal with something, and have kept tabs on his location since then."

"Well, we've encountered three so far! But you're right about them being difficult to convince. Anyways. We'd best talk about this away from Ciara's base. You never know; she might be listening in right now."

"You might want to keep one of us here," suggested Bacon as they walked. "Pretend we're a pet, or something. That way we'll maintain a point of contact."

Fun fact about Ennullers! They age/live at a tenth the rate of normal. So 300 years would be equal to 30 years of aging.

"True."

There was a metallic clanging sound, and Sentry stepped out of his nook. He looked between Tam and the pigeons, clearly confused.

"Not right now," she said to him, stepping in front of the not-pigeons slightly.

He shrugged and retreated back into the room.
